I Saluut these guy's for their Tolerance with the public. To be a guard watching Quietly on horseback or standing can be extremely hard. Specially if you can go and drink water if thirsty. or you felt a ich or something. You just had to stay. Lucky they brought water for the horse the other day..

They are on duty in the box for an hour then changed over so water is not an issue in winter in a hot summer they will bring water out for both horse and Trooper . So Reggie is a gelding Venus a mare , they are bought at around 3/4 years old then carefully trained once they pass training names are suggested by the Troopers and a favourite chosen , using the alphabet for each pass out , next letter is Z , so Reggie will be around 9/10and Venus about 7 .

So far she’s done as she was told and stayed away. (That was after the boxmen decided on a common strategy and simply pulled the horses away from her when she went to touch them.) Things are certainly more staid now, around Horseguards.

I still see people not understanding why these royal king and queen guards are there? They think these guards are weak and, show pieces. In fact they are from royal Army military, very few are selected to perform these duties, it's a grueling job: standing still for lengths of time, heavy clothing even during the hot summer months. I'm former U.S. Army, retired and, honorably discharged: much respect to each one of these 💂♂️ guards, may God bless them all!

I've seen other people who also have visibility, also be reprimanded, like Chinese members of the communist osrty who misbehave in much the same way, etc. All of us need to be clear and careful about what we say, and what our motivations are regarding tourists who act inappropriately, whether they've git high visibility or not. I've seen some comments here that border on something of questionable, selective reasoning. I'm thinking hard about it too.

Back in 1993, when I was in the US Navy, my ship pulled into several ports in the UK. When we were in Rosyth, me and some shipmates went and toured Edinbourg Castle. I don't remember which of the Household Regiment was on Guard duty that day, but they were completely professional. We took a train to London and got to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham, and I saw some of the horse guards at one of the other castles. Fortunately, didn't witness anyone mocking the guards are acting like a fool. It was all well done.

And I've seen these Guards put down some REAL bullshit behavior too. And, uh...this ain't it. ... I think the funniest thing I saw was one of them slap a child while saluting the Queen.
I have so deep respect for the military 🪖🎖️ doesn't matter if they're Canadian or British or American...I get so mad 😡 when groups of whatever you call these group of disrespectful tourists are....those people need to control their kids...and those adults need to grow up and show respect!!
It's really odd the issue these Hasidic Jews have with the British military given that they are exempt from military service in Israel and it would not even exist without the sacrifice of British and Commonwealth troops in the Levant in WW1.

I totally agree with you, John. Those two groups were totally disrespectful. Letting their kids use the courtyard like a playground. The other group jeering and trying to “make the guard laugh”…..This wasn’t the first time I’ve seen this behavior from this particular sect.

Before anyone starts clutching their pearls and claiming anyone is being anti-Semitic they need to ask themselves why it’s always Hasidic Jews who are appallingly disrespectful to the guards. They should remember that many of them wouldn’t be around at all if it wasn’t for the heroism of the Life Guards in 1945.
The other group are just as disrespectful. But kids never learn respect if the adults just let them do whatever they want cos it’s easier to just stand around nattering rather than so their job and ensure their kids behave. They looked appalled that the police had to intervene and do their job for them. What would they have done if the guard had knocked that little one over cos she’d got under his feet.
Some seem to think it’s a theme park not a working military facility and the guards, while they may be wearing their ceremonial uniforms, are active front line troops. It’s about time that was made clear to tourists before then set foot on MOD premises.

I was really upset by their behaviour and because I’d seen groups of this religious sect also act in this distressing bullying way I decided to find out more about them.

Why do they choose a lone guard stood on his own to ridicule and encourage their children to ridicule?
Does it make up for the ridicule that they themselves may have suffered?

I’ve never seen any members of this religion myself but I have seen them on various YT videos and cannot recall even one situation where they haven’t been rude, mocking and/or disrespectful to others! I know next to nothing about their faith teachings but I DO know disciples who are taught to behave this way to the rest of humanity are simply not Godly. God teaches love and to not be mocking or judgmental and to accept others.

I agree with you 100% It's always the same "group" be it different people, who blatantly disrespect the guards. I really would have expected better behavior from them but that goes to show you judging a book by its cover can leave you shaking your head. And the kids, obviously they have not had any discipline. I'm appalled at the lack of respect in our society, in the world for that matter. Sorry for ranting but I'm the daughter of a WWII Marine and I can't tolerate disrespect of veterans or military. As someone of Jewish ancestry I’m ashamed by the group’s behaviour and attitude towards the Horseguards. I remember my Great Grandmother who was a very strict Jew, children were seen and not heard and we had to be on our best behaviour and manners. No way were we ever allowed to behave like those kids.
I met a lovely Jewish family last year, they were taking their 3 little boys to the beach , I showed them which bus to get , it happened to be the bus I get home ! I sat and talked to them on the way , the boys were obviously excited but beautifully behaved said thank you to me and the driver . They were a pleasure to meet I hope they had a wonderful day out .
Nothing to do with their race! We have many disrespectful louts in this country who think they are above the law and can do what they want! Seen many families who have bad parenting skills and the fault is lack of discipline and boundaries by parents whose children are arrogant, entitled and self--centred. It was Canadians and Brits from the 11th armoured division that liberated Bergen-Belsen, specifically, members of the 63 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery. As far as im aware, the 11th armoured division has never served at Horse Guards. I think youre getting confused in that the Life Guards fought at Normandy, and did join the push through France to liberate Belgium, and they did eventually join the 11th armoured division, but that wasnt until 1952.
Their disrespectful conduct does not reflect on the soldier but on themselves. Their behaviour is ignorant, rude and totally unacceptable.
These are front line troops when not on parade duties!!!
I worked at the Imperial War Museum Duxford for some years and these people would often visit in huge groups. They were rude, arrogant, argumentative, and disrespected both the exhibits and staff at the museum. I personally have no time or respect for them exhibiting this unacceptable behaviour whilst in our country.

About time these highly trained soldiers are treated respectfully! Last summer was disgusting as tourists treated them like they were Disneyland characters.
That's the problem, thanks to Disney copying their uniforms many think that is exactly what they are, actors portraying soldiers and not real at all. It makes me wonder what the Disney employees (in the US as I've heard behaviour at EuroDisney is much better) have to put up with.
