The older man at the gate he seems to be there most days looking out for the soldiers & horses... they should give him have a seat inside only for him he clearly is British and properly serve in the army of this country... bless him.

@@bmom4451take it away with them, are you joking? There is no need to just drop stuff higher and yon. Try dropping rubbish in Singapore and see how you get on! It is just rude and thoughtless to expect someone to have to clean up after you as if you are a helpless baby.
@@bmom4451it has nothing to do with “clearing up”. In WhiteHall, you are in a politically sensitive area. MoD offices and HQ, Downing St, The Houses of Parliament, St James Palace, Clarence House, and Buckingham Palace are all in the area. The reason they don’t have rubbish bins in the area is because bins provide great hiding places for bombs. It’s happened before so they’ve been eliminated. This means if you have rubbish, you need to take it with you. Not exactly rocket science.
The old gentleman is a former Lifeguard who has worked Horseguards duty for many years. If he was offered a seat he would refuse it. He is very steeped in the traditions of Horseguards and sitting would be an insult to the guards as far as he is concerned. 😊
There’s no doubt that ORMONDE is the STAR of HORSE GUARDS. He earned the title KING because of his personality that if you let him be, he will let you be. Today, he’s cool, calm & collected.
MONTY, on the other hand earned the recognition as the horse of Trooper Ethan Jeffrey, Winner of The Best Turned Out Trooper at the recent Princess Elizabeth Cup Competition.

The iconic red phone boxes were designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. It was a quiz question recently.
I remember, as a kid, if we’d managed to save the princely sum of the 4 old pennies needed to make a call we didn’t know anyone with a phone to ring - so we often opted for a bag of chips instead.

I agree with the gentleman you were talking to. I too look forward to seeing your channel every day. There are other persons that posts things, they either don’t talk or they don’t seem sure of what is happening. You tell us of the city on London, the history of the horse guards and their regimens. I can’t help feeling a little left out when you are not there.

I may be wrong, but I think the Guards got the notice to keep Ormonde on a tighter grip. If you see older videos, it is a loose grip on reins. Still love Ormonde😊

Good morning! It is the Queen Victoria Day long weekend we celebrate here in Canada 🇨🇦 It signals the beginning of summer camping and mini getaways. I love seeing your morning London tours before reaching the horse guards 😊

@@TalkTalk44 Here Queen Victoria Day is always the 3rd Monday in May, so never the same date….just like Mother’s Day 2nd Sunday in May and 3rd Sunday in June for Father’s Day
When the new horse comes in and the guard seems to peer straight into your lens I always think how scary it must have been to be charged at when used on battle grounds.
Same with during the trooping when a Captain or other rank of each troop leads the horses round the corners of the horseguards their sword out to the side pointing straight at the audience. Looks glorious though 😊
Nice to see the two beauties in the sun. Even though Ormonde is kept on short reins, it's nice to see him more relaxed in the sun. By the way John, have you ever noticed that the horses recognise your voice and listen to you? Especially with the animals that are there more often, I've noticed how they look at you and listen to you.
I started to notice it a lot more recently as new horses began to arrive that I hadn't seen before. To them, I didn't exist! 😂😂

Honestly John I watch both shorts, and the longer video. But I prefer the longer ones like your because you tell us interesting facts about the horses and troopers. Buska i enjoy as well.
I also watch a lot of different history documentaries, new boats reviews. Not a complete fan of silence. Keep up the good work a short walks before horse guards. You've got a great way of presenting.

13:05 Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (1880 to 1960) designed the red phone box (1924). It didn't stop there he designed Waterloo Bridge, Bankside Power Station (now Tate Modern) and Battersea Power .He redesigned the chamber of the House of Commons after it was bombed in WW2.

The gates were closed because the Household Calvary (The King's Life Guards and The Blues and Royals), and the bands were practicing Trooping the Colour, for the upcoming official sovereign's birthday, in June.

John, the Fleming response in horses is a response to unfamiliar smells and tastes, stallions do it to detect a mare in heat, and lots of horses do it around drinking water and playing in it. x

Something different: you made these great videos of the Tower of London some months ago. I love your little strolls before going to Horseguards, but many beautiful sites in London are too far away to include it in your regular videos. Is there a possibility for you to do another video about some important spot in London in the future?
I certainly hope so. The consideration is always the weather, followed by proximity to Horse Guards.
The telephone box at the junction of Great Smith Street and Victoria Street is just as good for photos of ‘Big Ben’ and not so well known. Takes in the Abbey as well.
Your Trooping the Color filming idea would be perfect, just watching.
I watch your videos as soon as there is a notification to my phone 📱, then I sit down & enjoy and have a good time watching it.
