    just a thought i had that might help with the environmental storytelling of nether portals--if lighting a nether portal with a crying obsidian block in it caused the portal to explode, and convert another block to crying obsidian (or crying obsidian into air). doing so could give an advancement for "something went wrong" with a picture of the crying obsidian block. that might make it clear that you're meant to remove crying obsidian from portals to allow them to function.

    I like the ideas of having crying obsidian being a valid portal block and there being a painting but I think they could also have a little fun with making crying obsidian a valid portal block in that they could add a random chance that that portal would switch off randomly after returning through it so the first time is guarantied to work but on return there a chance for the connection to fail needing relit

    Hey, I have noticed that you have hearted and replied a lot of positive comments but don’t address any negative comments so I decided to make a more formal one that perhaps you will be more inclined to reply to perhaps. If not, this is for anyone else who scrolls down here to read.
    1. Minecraft is not a progression based game. Now looking at your channel, you seem like one of those TH-camrs that will just beat Minecraft and do nothing else in the game. While that may be fun in its own sense, this is not the main goal of Minecraft. Most people play the game to have fun and not primarily to beat the game. A lot of people do not go to the end or even the nether at all as they just want to explore, build a house, and even just hangout with friends in multiplayer. They may not know or even not want to know if theres a nether biome and will still enjoy Minecraft. In fact, I don’t think Minecraft not having enough hints or guides *in game* a problem at all.
    2. Minecraft doesn't need a fixed progression. There are various books(official even), youtube videos, and people to teach people about Minecraft. Why do you need to ruin the fun of you joining Minecraft for the 1st time with a friend and they show you the game. Various people watch Minecraft youtube videos in which they can learn anything they want to about Minecraft. Something I really enjoy about the game is how it's so delightful to discover things. For many years I had no clue about fireworks and the feeling of figuring out how to craft them and using them is something that I will always remember.
    3. An addition of things to “help” with the “broken" progression will just be a hinderance. IF the portals had no crying obsidian or if crying obsidian could be used in the portal structure, that would probably just make speed-running easier, make crying obsidian harder to get, and would just feel like the game is trying to push progression on you. The ruined nether portal was not just made for someone to get to the nether its also just there to add decoration and liveliness to the game. It annoys me that you think that it should be a painting or something as you dont explain how someone would find a painting and check every single painting orientation for that one and also paintings are not made for “progression” or anything like that. they are just made to look nice. Honestly the wither one is just a nice decoration and the fact that it “teaches” you about building the wither is an afterthought.
    4. Who cares? Mojang shouldn’t care as they should focus on adding features to the game then spending time “fixing” something that never needed fixing. They already are getting hate about not adding enough new features(I disagree. Mojang is doing a good job) so why should they add things that only a small fraction of people would ever use and only probably use once?

    This is a good video. While the suggestions for fixing the problem may cause their own issues, none of them are outright terrible. For the first 2 (basically acting the same) it encourages people to use the ruined portal. While this is a good thing, they are technically meant to be broken and unusable. More flavor than anything. For the painting, it's just a bit too obscure. If anything, I would replace the advancement from a flint and steel to either the whole portal or an obsidian block.

    I think you just completely missunderstood the point of Minecraft and how a new player would play and what help they would need.
    First of all, if you were a new player, you probably bought minecraft because its a sandbox game that allows you to build cool stuff. And then a new player, assuming they have never seen a minecraft video on youtube, wouldnt even know the nether exists, nor would they care. Why? They arent here to go to some whacky dimension, they are here to build cool stuff. The way someone would get into the nether in the first place, if they really had no idea it exists, would probably be them not knowing where to get quarz, googling it and then coming across the nether dimension, looking up how to get there and then would be able to easily build a Nether portal. And then, what would they even do there? Evil is everywhere and they would probably be discouraged and never go back and just keep building their base.
    There is absolutely no point for a player playing the game normally to go to the Nether. But youtubers nowadays seem to propagate the idea that you have to "beat minecraft". But thats not the point. Minecraft isnt a block game built around beating the enderdragon. Its a sandbox game that happens to have an endboss.
    I have been playing minecraft since like 2011 or 2012 and just recently beat the enderdragon in a survival world for the first time ever. And only because a friend who had also never beaten it before pushed me to do it.
    Stop this Nether and Enderdragon beating nonsense and let minecraft players build their stuff.

    • @masterjbt
      @masterjbt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KEKMaster3000 i didn’t say the game was broken, I said the progression was. You shouldn’t have to look it up if you wanted to beat the game or reach endgame gear

    • @KEKMaster3000
      @KEKMaster3000 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@masterjbt the progression is completely fine. In 2012 we had to look up every crafting recipe and virtually nobody complained about it. And now it suddenly an issue when the game basically hands you everything on a silver platter?
      And as I said, its completely fine playing the game without aiming for endgame gear or any of that shit. This is the nature of minecraft. Minecraft is not a game of progression. Nobody should be aiming to fight the enderdragon. The only progression that matters is the progression of your house build.
      And I think there might be 2 kinds of new minecraft players:
      1. The person that knows minecraft from youtube and saw tons of videos of people beating the enderdragon and going to the nether and stuff. This player will not have trouble getting to the Nether beating the enderdragon.
      2. The person that heard about minecraft and wanted to try it out but hasnt seen any gameplay. It is unlikely that this person would even know or care about the enderdragon. This person likely bought minecraft because it is a sandbox game that allows you to build stuff.
      And not everyone needs endgame gear. When I was a kid I just always used an iron pickaxe because I found diamonds to be too expensive. It was fine.
      And I also dont think looking up stuff online is an issue in general. Thats something that you basically have to do for almost every game.
      Honestly I'm mostly bothered by the fact that they keep adding tutorials and infos and stuff. That takes away all the fun of experimenting, finding out stuff on your own and even looking up stuff. As a kid I sat at my PC and specifically learned harder crafting recipes by heart even if I may never need them. Nowadays you just open the stupid crafting book.
      It was fine before, it is fine now. People can look up stuff, its not an issue.
      (Sorry if I was incoherently rambling here.)
