    There's basically 2 types of filipinas:

    You hit the nail on the head.... professional/career-oriented filipinas have very little time for a relationship. It could be frustrating for an expat, who has so much time to kill. Potentially bad match. The commute to/from work, working through the night (as many do) is really hard and leave them no time for dating. They work so hard and so many people count on them.

      Not all professional, career oriented, working women are the same. It depends on the person.
      It's a matter of setting up priorities and time management. Some women are busy working but still have quality time with their significant other.
      I work on night shift and on ldr but I take time to talk via VC minimum 2hrs after my work.

    There are people who never experience boredom.
    I’m not implying that we are “special” in any way, just that we don’t get bored.
    I have never needed to be “entertained” by anyone and am perfectly content in my head.
    That may well explain the relationships that you, yourself (as someone who experiences boredom), are unable to comprehend.

      My comment was in response to Chad’s bewilderment of “odd” couples, who do not appear to have anything in common and lack the ability to be able to communicate verbally without limitations, leading to his boredom comment.

      "Bored people are boring." ~ unknown .... You may be content in your head due to the fact that you've got some things upstairs to keep you occupied, conversely, "she" is forever bored because she has ZERO upstairs. The average IQ here is in the very low 80's, and they age like milk. Be very careful before hitching your wagon to any of these fine ladies.

    Hi Chad. David here. Fellow single, professional Canadian living in Japan, approaching retirement age, but super active in sports, fitness and hobbies and contemplating a move to the PHs. As you have discovered, meeting the ‘ideal’ Filipina is not necessarily as simple as we are led to believe. Of course, ideal differs for each of us. I have been thinking of some of the exact same issues. I have not been to the PHs yet, but I can easily imagine what you’re talking about. I enjoy intelligent conversation and even require it at least occasionally. My imaginary, ideal Filipina is motivated in both her career and personal life. Not having a ‘career’ is not necessarily a deal breaker. Being able to relate to each other on different levels is important to me. Ultimately, I wish to meet someone who will enhance my life. I’m not interested (at the moment) in acquiring a dependent that needs rescuing or taken care of, but perhaps that’s our role as men that has been lost over the decades in the west due to the women’s liberation/feminist movement (?). Lots to consider.

    A very good observation Chad about typical Filipinas. But you’re right, there are many Filipinas too who are career oriented and exposed to Western culture. Of course when you go to the rural communities that there are those who think that foreigners are their shining armours who could scoop them out from poverty. Your videos just caught my attention and started smiling to myself by listening to your perspective about Filipinas and interviews with foreigners marrying and settling to the Philippines.

    Always...and I mean always protect yourself (as in assets, etc. do a pre-nup).
    Just because she is a traditional, conservative pinay whom you would think "She will never leave me, she loves me so much !!! because I love her too, and she knows it"
    You bring her over to the west. She links up with the Pinoy community there. Has alot of conversations with them (most assuredly behind you back).
    At the 2 year mark into your marriage, she divorces and dumps you like a bad habit. (new immigrants into the USA must stay married a minimum 2 years, [i think] in order to stay in the country)
    She then immediately starts dating a man of higher socio-economic status than you, and later marries him.

      It's like bringing a kid to a candy store with no limits. Most of them are "upward mobile" and will have plenty of opportunity to trade up. On top of that, our divorce laws reward her with half of everything you've worked for. Pre-nups are NOT a sure-fire way to protect your assets as they're often challenged in court. If her attorney or the judge thinks that your pre-nup wasn't "fair", it'll get thrown out.....

    It's always a tricky subject to tactfully comment and generalize about another culture. I did come to a realization about the Philippines and it was that people seemed to just cruise along and not be particularly ambitious, but happy to do that. In lot's of ways that's what makes the Fils fun for the westerners I guess. We can go there with our money and be seen as this saviour type and leave our work work world behind. I think the problem comes when you start thinking " well, if they were just a bit ambitious and this and that" if they were they'd have a different culture and it probably wouldn't be that much fun for us anymore.

    • @ChadFosterExplores
      @ChadFosterExplores  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey there thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. Yeah I agree I hear what you're saying it is a tough thing to tactfully explain, main thing is it's not one type of person here there is a wide variety that's what I was trying to get across and there's something for everyone and everything has pros and cons Just as it would anywhere in the world depending on what you're looking for. And I guess it's a mix of being objective with some of my subjective thoughts mixed in. I didn't mention it in this video but the group that I was describing as being non-ambitious tends to be the group that are money focused and more selfish often not as wholesome and I think most foreigners are looking for someone a bit more wholesome, caring and looking for a quality connection of give-and-take. I'm doing a follow up to this video to go into more detail about it with an Expat here who is married to share his thoughts on this. Anyway thanks again, my goal is to try and help share some insight to those who are just looking into doing something like this but I'm always learning and want to provide solid info to help people in a positive way that's my goal anyways... and of course without spreading negativity or anything like that (about the culture) I was worried about that a little bit with this video.

    • @garyzies3486
      @garyzies3486 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChadFosterExplores Well said! Watch out for the non-ambitious "money focused" girls. They are usually great actors and storytellers. The focus is to extract as much money out of you as they can and kick you to the curb once you're broke. Beauty and youth is their main asset and many foreigners fall for illusions. There are many variations of the "long-game". Many want to go to "your country" so they can "grow" with you. Often, a foreigner winds up as a stepping stone to a better life. Once they arrive in a "first-world country" they have options they've never dreamed of. It's like a kid in a candy store without limits. On top of that, you'll be in constant competition with other guys who're lusting after your girl. She'll have plenty of options to "trade up" and western divorce laws allow her to be rewarded for dumping you....I've seen it happen too many times.

There are beautiful traditional or beautiful career oriented SE Asian women in many countries - some countries have much better infrastructure and less drama - but most men go to Phillipines and complain of infrastructure when they don’t know they have good choices. I’m a slow traveler and fully enjoy the experience of cultural richness and variety of choices available.

    If you're looking for a wife find a Filipina who does not belong to the poorest of the poor or if she is know her background well especially her family and personal values. I came also from a poor family but my parents taught us well to be financially independent so I will not be a burden to someone else. I studied hard to achieve my dreams, so as my siblings.
    Find someone who is at least a middle class, who has an education(including her siblings), a Filipina from a family of professionals, someone who has a career. That way you will not feel that her family is a burden. There are tons of quality Filipina out there, and most of us want good relationship than money.

    Hey Chad, nice video. I spent 3 months in Negros talking with hundreds of people and I observed the same dynamics you are talking about; the most successful couples I've seen are the one where the young Filipina enter completely the frame of the older foreigner, no doubt about it. The reality is that very often, these younger women have nothing much in common with the older gentlemen for all sort of reasons; often the socialising is done in private set ups like homes or public venues like bars or restaurants where the foreigners and their girlfriends talk to each other in their own language. Personally I will try hard to have my gf sharing my same hobbies but I would facilitate her meeting with other girls as well

Some of the career woman are sacrificial when they have a family they are willing to give up their career. Sometimes also it deals with a family upbringing. In my book the women simply can´t be younger than 25, thats my bottomline. She has to be somehow involved in a role of responsibility, taking care of family or gardening or even work/ study. I just don´t want to meet someone lazy. I might throw some books her way to find some topics we can talk about. Even if it´s book that I don´t like but I need conversations on a weekly basis where we can share our views. In my opinion it´s impossible to know someone without discussing on two opposite fronts. Disputes on a harmless topic can improve the relationship ( not just romantic relationships).
    I am 31 right now and are starting to travel into the PH at the age of 35 and see for how good it feels. Hopefully the PH are exactly what I am expecting it to be :P

    Hay Chad. I am just starting to talk with a few girls now on a dating site. I will be in the Philippines early March. The girls that seem interested range from early 20s up. I am a very healthy and a good condition 67 years old. I am a runner so stay in great shape. But my concern is if the girl is too young, will she stick around when I am in my 80s or 90s. I am almost thinking someone in there late 30s or even early 40s may be a better long term fit. Can you go too young? WOW a couple of these young ones are smoking and seem pretty mature for there age.. But kinda scarry.

      Hey there thanks for the message and yeah that's a dilemma for sure, there's a lot of factors that go into it obviously each person is different and you can base it on some signs you're getting from that person as to their intention, honesty values etc. generally speaking I think if they are really young and really hot You're rolling the dice big time but it doesn't mean it can't work. The other thing to consider is most younger girls want to have kids, it's actually a good way to build that sustainable connection but most older retired guys aren't looking to do that. I made a video recently about a guy who married a 19-year-old and they have a child and she's very supportive of him even after a stroke. My recommendation is older not going too young someone with the more maturity and compatibility etc.

      You find many 60+ windowed Filipinas too. Many of them are available and would give you all the love and care. As someone who just turned 40 I can say we don't have much in common with people aged 60+. Most of our parents are your age.

      You will be a prime target for gold-diggers and scammers. Many of them are on dating sites and are licking their chops for guys like you....trust me! Be super careful and don't think with your little head!

      @@garyzies3486 Im heading there in March to run a marathon and then it might be better to meet women face to face rather than a dating site. Its just too hard to tell chatting online. Im not worried about getting scammed for money, just the intent of the woman to be in a long term committed relationship. I have narrowed my interest to women from about 38 yrs to 45 yrs. Loads online so in person when I am there it shouldnt be hard to meet some.

    What the heck are you people wasting your time together.......nothing in common. I think that's the point you were making Chad. That is the reality that guys have to think about. I like 70s music. How many 22 year old Filipinas care for that music. I am always telling my 18-year old to stop looking at his phone during breakfast. Would I enjoy a younger Filipina doing the same? Probably not. Your point are well taken. The fantasy and reality can be two very different things and guys have to think critically about their choices, and also consider the quality of life for the girl who might not be finding real happiness. Financial arrangements can be the road to unhappiness.
