Hi vian
My main reasons for buying the OLED model were that I liked the white joycons (though they do slide a tiny bit out of place in handheld mode) and the fact that the screen was bigger and had more vibrant colors, of course I don't actually own a regular or lite switch to compare it to, but I had the money to spare and figured I'd splurge a little since it's actually my first console I've bought for myself. I think it was well worth it
He said I’m the video the batter wasn’t different but the oled has a better battery life so not sure what he meant
@@aplayz752 IT's the same battery but on the OLED it doesn't matter if you play on low brightness or MAX, you get the full 5 and a half hour battery life. On normal Switches you get 3 hours on high and 5 hours on low to medium brightness

NB during the 3DS days: I hate the names of the redesigns, these models aren't not going to be new in like 12 years! This is so stupid!
The reveal of Nathaniel Nandy was more exciting for me than Sora
One big thing that the lite has over the switch is that it physically feels more stable while the the removable joycons on the base switch feel flimsy and very easy to brake.
They did fix this on the OLED thank god. Much firmer hold between the joycons and the Switch on the OLED model.
I'm the kind of person who barely uses their Switch outside of docked mode, but the times I have used it in handheld mode I didn't really feel like it would break and that it was flimsy. Yeah, I felt the joycons wobble a tiny bit if I, like, tried to make them, but while I was just focusing on my games I never noticed it.
I'm not saying this doesn't happen of course, if there's been enough people saying this then obviously its a thing that some people experience, but I feel like that's more of a "your mileage may vary" thing, like a defect that some Switches might have rather than "this is a universal thing".

There are rubber bumpers in the dock to protect the screen. Also, Nintendo includes a screen protector with the new case. It's not even noticeable once applied. (Props for including the original screen protector too as the case works with both.)

I see many times that Nintendo tries to do a definitive version of a console but it well always had one flop from the original version, it happen's every time
Uhm, that's just not true.
The New 3DS XL had a significantly tougher shell than the regular 3DS XL, games like Monster Hunter do look notoriosly better on it, and it has a thicker stylus, which is actually pretty nice.
I don't even have to explain why the GBA SP is an upgrade, but you can make it even better with an IPS screen from Aliexpress, they're really worth those $50.
The DSi Menu made it feel like a portable Wii, which was great, and its XL version introduced a screen size that became mandatory as I grew older, not to mention its shell design.
And the GBC actually introduced colors to the existing GB catalog, I have to assume that was crazy, since I didn't exist back in those days.

@@desh206 even the PLAYSTATION line up, had FLOPS as well... not to mention the PS2 had 4 versions, the fat one who ate CDs, the SLIMMER one who can cook an egg... heck even the recent PS5 v2 had a recent downgrade, by making their water vapor cooling a milimiter smaller... and the fans are smaller to, means temps will get higher... while NINTENDO on the other hand make slight upgrade in their revisons... and still NINTENDO gets flack for what they do.. lol.. even the joystick drift was already a sony thing...

I was about to say the same thing.
I got the Tears of the Kingdom OLED recently because my launch day Switch has been absolutely struggling to run newer games because of its age and hardware, and I gotta say it might be placebo, but games have been running a LOT better. I like the upgrade, and gave my old Switch to a friend of mine who didn’t have one.
The SNES lineup on switch may be bad but Mario’s picross is a hidden gem that’s really addicting
Another good one is popin twin bee it has an amazing ost and fun gameplay

Yeah, and I still hate that I bought it. My sibling wanted it so we got it, and after playing it even they regretted buying it. I still hate that this half-baked game at 60 dollars still outsold Mario Odyssey, an actual good game.

Honestly, as long as you have a regular switch that works well, there is at least no reason to rush buying one. Unless you are frequently playing in handheld or tabletop mode, then the improvements might be worth a purchase, but still

4:52 I bought it because my regular switch was scratched and couldn’t dock. I remember it where I was playing mario maker 2 on the switch in i think 2019 and the screen flickered, I also remember that it was a vertical level in mario maker but thats not important. Then maybe a few months later, the whole screen shut off when docked, and I don’t know when but I theorized that it was because it was scratched but I couldn’t prove it until I got my switch OLED and actually I proved it. So when it was my birthday in 2022 i got a switch OLED and it docked and now we are at today August 27th and i am happy

I finally got my switch yesterday. It's the standard, but I still love it already. But I do need a micro SD already as well.
I got the standard one to over 3 years ago I’m not upgrading to the oled it isn’t worth all that money if you already own one
I like how it took Nathaniel Bandy less than a day to make this when it came out
Some points you made in the video summed up my thoughts exactly. The only reason I would ever buy an oled is for the better battery life (I've had my switch since April 2017 and it still works fine) and/or if something's wrong with my switch and I can't get it fixed.
The good amount of features seems to be features that should've been dealt with day 1 and it's more fit for those who mostly play handheld. Since my switch is almost always docked, oled is not worth it for me rn.

2:59 actually won’t be an issue since this model uses a glass screen which is harder and more scratch resistant than the plastic screen on the regular switch which is why the scratches were there plastic can scratch each other but plastic can’t scratch glass
Jerry rigs show that the glass is actually under a plastic cover
So the switch oled will still get scratches if your not careful
plastic knifes can scratch a glass screen

I have Zelda joy cons and they don't drift at all. The only problem is that when I hold straight up on the left stick, my character in a game moves slower than it's supposed to, as if I'm barely pushing it. But it's only straight up, any other direction Is perfectly fine, even when it's up but a little bit off to the left or right, it's just fine, it's only when it's STRAIGHT UP! I haven't noticed it do that when they're unattached, it's when in handheld mode, so I don't know what to do.
i had the 3 hours battery life switch before upgrading to the oled moddle and the lan port bigger screen and better battery (in my case) is worth the upgrade. so if you have a 2017 original moddle and haven't upgrade since this is very worth it

I got one from Argos and the switch itself is pretty good. I do think handheld mode is best on it. If you don’t have a switch and you got you hands on one it’s a perfect switch for you

1:09 Well… 720p on a 7 inch is around 200 PPI wich is very sharp and you won’t be able to see the pixels, most monitors don’t even get anywhere near to 200 PPI.
Do you remember the days with the DS and 3DS (and the XL models) where the resolution was so low that you could literally count each pixel ? But I agree with you to keep the screen as sharp or even sharper than the 6.2 inch one they could’ve put a 900p 7 inch screen on the OLED model instead. 1080p would just drain the battery in only 1-2 hours since the internals are already power hungry, generate a lot of heat but are also weaker than the newest smartphones wich are at least 1.5x more powerful than the Switch.

So I have found the Switch OLED a very worthy upgrade from the launch edition switch as it has the better battery and better screen. but if I had a V2 I would not have bothered with the upgrade. but I do agree with you. this is not really a worth while mid life upgrade unlike the ps4 to the ps4 pro.
