Sarah Jeffery brought me here...Twoset violin brought me to Sarah...Classicial music for relaxation brought me to Twoset Violin Quarantine had me looking for relaxing music...wow Covid..well played...
The recorder predates current art music practice and follows its own. Embellishing the composition with ornaments was just what was done. Heck what do you think the second half of this piece is anyway? It was van Eyck showing off on the spot, he was blind and the tunes he played in the public square were written down by someone else.
Playing this piece myself and knowing how demanding it is I can only say- I admire your playing so much! 😍 and also amazing that you found your own beautiful and authentic interpretation 💙
The melody here is called Daphne in a number of English sources eg Playford's ''Dancing Master'' of 1651. So interesting that there was a common resevoir of popular. tunes from the British Isles and the Low Countries. Beautifully played here.
Van Eyck's Der Fluyten Lust-hof is a collection of popular music from many genres of the time (and I believe some of his own compositions, but don't quote me :P)
A variation of the melody appears in the Dahlhoff collection from Westphalia in Germany (1767-1799, Volume I, Number 131) as „Daphnus“. I love how these tunes travelled.
There are many different types of Renaissance recorders, can you tell me which recorder you are using. I know it is not a soprano ("descant", lowest note C5). So is it an alto "treble", lowest note F4), tenor (lowest note C4) or a bass (lowest note F3).
Deja Entendu! Rather disappointing actually that Lazarevitch should choose this old war horse to put through the paces again, and if truth be told a rather disappointing performance, wherein the statement of the theme is unremarkable and the "presto" divisions are a legato blur of burbles. Others have done better by it, including Bruggen in his classic recordings.
Très, très beau! Merci beaucoup. J'aime beaucoup ce style de jouer. Avec le 'legato' quand il faut. Je veux vous demander quelque chose. 'Doen Daphne d'over Schoone Maeght'.
you're so nice switch player ! I saw your movie of playing flute traversiere, this time renaissance recorder ! I am switch maker of flute traversiere and oboe. I also have you tube channel.

This is what I'm going to send to the next person who tells me the recorder isn't a real instrument

Fantastique François !! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Magnifique Merci.
Nice to hear the use of traditional ornaments. Beautifully played.
To much ornaments...
eduardo faria No, that’s just the good use

And some non-traditional ornaments! I think I hear the Irish/folk influence here.
@@victotronics that’s what I meant - maybe I should have said trad.
Best of recorder playing. It's my favourite recorder piece from Jacob van Eyck
Me too!
@@ErnestoValt Moi aussi!
Wow! I want to be able to play that well. Really beautiful

He's so amazing.
Am i right in thinking that historically that kind of recorder would have been most common and in key of G?
Bravo bravissimo
Wow. Fantastic. And inspiring me to get practicing. Thank you so much for your playing. Just wonderful
Maravilhosa harmonia musical ao ar livre.
amazing
Beautiful flute, I must say. Not to mention the interpretation, of course
Bravo ; c'est magnifique
How is your day François Lazarevitch?
Just discovered the setting of the tune by Giles Farnaby in the Fitzwilliam virginal book.
is it a Ganassi in G?
Beautiful, by the way this in not Utrecht, were the componist lived

magnifico!!!!
Delicioso gracias
Incredibile, meraviglioso!!!

Is Francois playing a G voice flute? It sounds a-moll, not the original d-moll.
An amazing performance and sound! Who is the recorder maker (and the model)? Can I buy the recording on a CD or download?
hola¡ que flauta es esa...?
flute Ganassi
Tak takhle by to mělo znít ❤️❤️❤️❤️to znám
Does nightingale sing on an alt ganassi?

What kind of recorder is that???
Vanessa D A wooden one.
It seems to be a Ganassi renaissance Alto recorder. The maker is very hard to guess, I have no idea.
@@tapsarautanen I'd guess it was made by Ernest Meyer
mmmmmmmmmmmm delicieux!
This is like the 1600s version of Marty McFly's performance of Johnny B. Goode from "Back to the Future".
Amazing! But some of his performance seems to be his own interpretation/improvisation, not the original as written down in "Der Fluyten Lust-Hof".
The pieces in Der Fluyten Lust-Hof are transcribed improvisations in the first place :)
omg
Overkill :D
Uncle Jaap approved!
Nice a bit to much echo though.
funny song
Le playback le fait marrer 😂
assez discret quand même ! à quoi le voyez vous ?
Deja Entendu!

There are relatively few recordings of Daphne readily available, so not sure what you're griping about.
Sublime !
