    Looks like a better option than the old Deep Kurled Power bar Ex

      Yep, a bit tighter TPI and the stainless won't rust like the EX did.

    I have the black one, which I'm in love with! I also got the Helios and Hades, which I also love. I'm very impressed with Rep's new barbell line-up!

      Ha! I'm uploading an unboxing for the single black diamond bar in all black right now. The black on black looks great! How are your sleeves holding up?

      @@GymCrafter , they're holding up great! I've had all 3 bars since the summer, and the Duracoat still looks fresh. I'm looking forward to the new unboxing!

    We have a red and black half rack but we still might get the OD green 😅 it looks gorgeous! I want the stainless for longevity.. but that green though 😮

      Yeah, I got green because it matches my brand colors. The finish is really nice!

    Love the green bar!!! Looks great. I too hate "ribbed" sleeves, just don't dig the sound.

    Would love to see a detailed comparison of this and the old REP power bar that you reviewed!

      If I can think of enough differences to warrant a separate video, I can do that. But the short version is the new one is better in every way it can be better. There's just no comparison. Anyone asking if they should upgrade, the answer is yes. SS name brand barbells go for almost retail on FB marketplace if you are willing to deal with 10 asshats for every real customer. In the end, it's only a few bucks to upgrade.

    I'm very interested in this bar. I would love to see this bar with the gold titanium sleeves like fringesports' midas bar which is my go to bar right now even though it is an all purpose bar and not a power bar.
    Nice unboxing video

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I don't see Rep doing gold or titanium any time soon as it's really hard to apply evenly and it's not the most durable finish either. But you never know!

    Best video overview of this bar I could find. What if I want the most aggressive knurl? I have a power bar EX but want something even more so now, I’m a sicko

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on what you mean by "more aggressive". If you mean more grip, the American Barbell Chewy bar wins hands down. If you mean sharper and will tear up your hands more (which doesn't mean more grip btw), then I've felt two bars sharper than the EX. One is the Ohio Power Bar Aggro edition, the other is a Texas power bar that I don't know the model of. All I know is that I refused to use it because of how much it tore up my hands.

    • @kozmo7
      @kozmo7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GymCrafter haha gotcha. Well I sweat like crazy and Florida is mega humid so I am even looking for something more aggressive than the rep power bar EX deep knurl if you can believe it!

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kozmo7 Best way to fight sweat is with chalk. The sharpest knurl in the world won't help with wet hands.

    • @kozmo7
      @kozmo7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GymCrafter gotcha. Well, I use chalk and I still slip with the Ohio power bar or the rep deep knurl EX. It’s the amount of weight I do plus the copious amounts of sweat.
      If I had a bar that could really dig deep into my calluses, it seems like that could work. Is the chewy bar ultra grippy you’d say?

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@kozmo7 It has the most grip of any bar I've ever used. You can check out Brandon's reviews of it on the Basement Brandon channel too. I believe he now has 2-3 of them and it's the bar he trains with as a competitive powerlifter (among a few others). Another possible solution is to use straps. I usually never recommend them to clients unless there is an unusual issue where grip is a weak point that can't be overcome with more strength. I also sometimes move people to a lower weight, but longer eccentrics, more reps, or pauses. It induces the same stress on your muscles, but uses a weight that doesn't overcome your grip. Hope that helps!

    You said the sleeve collar indicates where it was made. Is this bar made in Colorado?..

    • @carps_gym
      @carps_gym 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. It’s designed in Colorado. That’s where the Rep headquarters is located. These are imported bars from China, but still look high quality.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good catch. All Rep products are designed in CO, but made in China.

    I have the 20 TPI Chewy. I'm curious on the Double Black Diamond knurl comparison to the Chewy. Presumably the DBD is more aggressive with the mountain. If that's the case, how much? Thanks

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      THey are both aggressive bars and I wouldn't all one "more aggressive" than the other. While the double black diamond uses the sharp points of its mountain style knurl to give grip, the Chewy bar uses the design of the knurl instead of its sharpness (hope that makes sense). As far as overall grip goes, I think the Chewy bar wins here, but it's close. For me, if they were the same price, the Chewy bar is the clear choice. That said, if budget is a concern, go with the Rep bar and don't give it a second thought.

    I only have 1 power bar, a rogue SS OPB. I want a 2nd one. I do like the volcano knurling on the OPB, wish it was a little more aggressive.
    Im trying to decide between this bar, the black diamond, or the chewy bar. What do u think?
    For training, i powerbuild with evolve ai.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If the OPB isn't aggressive enough for you, the black diamond isn't a good choice. The double black diamond is more aggressive, has tighter tolerances, better spin, and nicer aesthetic touches than the OPB. If budget isn't a concern, the Chewy bar is still my favorite. It's knurl is truly unique in that it's just as grippy as mountain style knurl without all the little sharp point digging into your hands.

    Your comparison of Duracoat to e-coat is inaccurate. 2:18 E-coat is paint that is applied via electricity. A better comparison is black oxide, which is a chemical process that bonds oxygen to the iron.

  • @MrPanthers23

    I got the SS DBD. I love it for deadlifting and squatting. For benching heavy, the knurling actually hurts the base of my hands a little, bc i dont have callouses there. Ive ended up benching with my rogue OPB, and squatiing and deadlifting woth the rep DBD.

    • @GymCrafter
      @GymCrafter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great insight! An aggressive bar has limited uses unless your hands are more callous than skin. I love having two bars, one all around and one for heavy power lifting. I think that's an ideal setup for most home gym folks who train with a barbell. Thanks for the comment, it really helps when other people see actual owner's feedback!
