most people dont know that Seth Macfarland actually speaks fluent German, accent and all. is why he was able to nail Johann so well!
He also based the accent off of Simon from Die Hard: With a Vengeance.

The hellboy movies with Ron perlman had the right kind of humor at the right time without being too cringe or being out of place in serious moments. Perlman absolutely nailed it. One of those actors that just makes everything he's in better.

Man.... i was reeeallly hoping that the new hellboy would be better then this hellboy,but jesus they made me love the first 2 hellboys more.

Whoops his ass why yelling in German and then walking off singing like a total badass. Wanted too see more of him in hellboy 3 but, that's never going to happen.
The real question is: Why the hell did Johann carry a towel? Does he shower in the suit?

Possibly it's to keep the suit clean, and he may also get joy out of it. Since as a gas he no longer has to, but it makes him feel more human.
This and Hellboy I are 1000x better than Hellboy 2019

I met Ron Perlman (Hellboy) at GalaxyCon Raleigh. He's very nice and awesome.

In the comics he was a regular human professionsl medium but during a seance trying to reach the afterlife something went horribly wrong and a fire broke out, killing his body and all others involved in the seance. Due to his expertise in the subject he was able to maintain his spectral form until the BPRD built him a suit. I presume the same or similar goes here.
