How many people do you know who can drive well enough to safely handle a rwd with that power on a road?! It’s just yet another 0-60/0-100kmph nonsense to sell a car which could be better spent on build quality and battery tech.
@@MattyThomas86 The Born VZ is a Cupra Born with a very handy 326bhp. This has been achieved not by the usual EV route of adding a second motor for AWD, but simply a stronger single motor.
Great to hear they have further improved the handling. I think the 200hp ID3 and Born are already both very fun to drive. Looking forward to the ID3 GTX too.
Mark. Haven’t seen you that animated for a while. 😊. So pretty sure this really is a good car. The front looks really good and great paint colour. Great review.
Looks like you really enjoyed that drive Mark. I think the Born was always a better looking car than the ID3 but now with those bucket seats and the extra power they are like night and day. Cupra are right to leave it as RWD it just makes it more fun to drive and yes you will be harder on tyres but why let that spoil the fun. 😂😂
I remember when the born was launched it was branded a hot hatch. Yes now it finally is. I know when the first generation Ev’s came out there were critics saying there is no hot versions but with this and higher up the price point the new Hyundai 5N things are looking up. As they say Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Great review - nice to see Cupar unleashing the sportiness 😊 used to love my Seats and would be happy to go back to them (I know it’s Cupra but it’s still Seat) for this beauty
Hi,I have a Cupra Born V2 e-boost which is very fast in Cupra mode ,however I have to have the car in B mode rather than D mode as I cannot trust the brakes when decelerating as they seem really weak in D mode, are the brakes uprated in the Cupra VZ?
Has anyone noticed this delightful footnote on the 2024 Cupra: “Maximum power determined according to UN GTR.21….Availability of maximum power requires a specific high voltage battery temperature of between 23-50ºC and a battery charge level greater than 55% to deliver around 170kW for 58kWh (62kWh Gross) battery, and temperature of between 23-50ºC and a battery charge level greater than 85% to deliver around 170kW for 77kWh (82kWh Gross) Battery. Any deviations from the aforementioned parameters can lead to reduced power output and even to the overboost not being available at all.” Nice. I’d like to know how the driver is supposed to achieve these conditions out on the road!!!
Looks good in that colour, and I'm with you, the seats look stunning 😁. I have a 58kwh V3 in RED, other than the software, which is just OK, I really like the car. Does the VZ come with the new version 4 software - and will VW ever get OTA updates working ? My preferred option would be rear wheel drive, but with VW's latest more powerful and efficient motor. That would still be plenty quick enough on today's roads. You are a lucky devil 😂.
I don´t think that power and looks is enough.... I would prefer that manufacturers would split the model alternatives to: Comfort Can´t deside Sport I, for one, would absolutely prefer the comfort orientation. I don´t give a s*^t about two seconds faster around the Nurburgring. I want a comfortable car! Maybe 22" rims looks better, but 17-18" is by far the more comfortable choice.
Hey Nobby thanks for the video, any plans on reviewing the Hyundai ioniq 5 n it appears to be a proper hot hatch ev and will definitely put a smile on your face
This is a similar price to the VW Golf R so preference is electric or petrol, lots of similarities, I own a Cupra but leaning back towards a petrol engine, seems slightly more fun 🤔

You don’t mention whether they’ve fixed the biggest problems with the existing Born … the terrible drive selection control, the buttons on the steering wheel that you touch accidentally and the unlit (at night) temperature and volume controls under the main screen.
I have a Born, I love the drive selector. The haptic buttons on the steering wheel are fine. Heating lights are now lit. It has the V4 software and hardware which has preconditioning for charging and a better charging curve.
@@ISuperTed I just ordered the refresh edition of the ID.4. I didn't realise this was coming out and I love it's size and it's got the big battery too and seems like they addressed the 2 seat issue with the large battery, now looks like 3 seats. It's a lovely car, no doubt

Cupra be like “ESP-OFF”, reality is that it’s still constantly intervening and the ESP light is flashing AT YOU. Really irritates me even in ESP-Sport on my ‘22 eBoost 77kWh, I hoped it would be really OFF in ESC-OFF
According to most reviews those cars all drive badly as soon as the road is no longer straight. Good handling and steering is the most important thing in a hot hatch.

Definitely not dual motor . It’s a single RWD 326bhp
It doesn’t have 371bhp. If I said dual motor it’s because I had just filmed a Tavascan.
