Great illustrations of Instant Center! I finally understand. I'm the original owner or my Fox and have gone on so many forums in effort of trying to understand instant center in relation to upper and lower control arm geometry. you made it simple. So many people spend their hard earned dollars on suspension mods and not understand what they do and what to adjust.... me included. I've recently installed the upper relocation kit you mentioned in efforts of getting better than 1.7 60's. I haven't cut my stock rear springs yet though. Like you, I have strange shocks and struts but have left the front full loose and rear mid (good ole 90/10 & 50/50 mentality). Maybe I should change as well. My car has run a best of 10.40 at 127 with a DA of 4000. I feel it has more if it just hooked better.
New to your channel. I have a 85 foxbody sbf. All solid rear bushings and motor plate setup. We are working on getting my 60’ down it’s spinning at the hit. My brother come across your foxbody rear suspension videos. I found this really helpful. Thank you, I’ll be following your channel looks like you have a lot of good information.
Hi great stuff much appreciated all tips and tricks, I have a question can I run 430 gears in the 1/4 on a 275 60 15 mt street tire without running out of 4th car is pretty stock gt 40 heads long tubes dumped.. thanks
Great video, this is something I’m really needing to work out on my car. Hopefully this stuff clears up and I can experiment with it. I live about 45 minutes away from Bradenton haven’t gotten to run there yet.
great video .great video!!...bone stock 302 with a 100 shot of nitrous,Toyo 255 50 x 16 drag radials.j@m adjustable lower control arms..I ran a 13:81 101mph..I think I had the car sitting high in the back..should I have lowered it as much as possible..thank u
Hello love the videos. I have an 4.8 LS swapped 1987 foxbody hatch. I have rear suspension upper and lower UPR control arms and Team Z drag springs with strange adjustable rear shocks. So my question is are you still using the quad shocks?
Did you also remove your quad shocks? If so how would that effect street driving..being removed would that cause more wheel hop.? I do not have a bunch of power just trying to learn a bit more than you suggested.. to witch I will be doing your video was very helpful thank you
Size tire are you running on the back. And also what size wheel are you running, cuz I've heard the width of the wheel can play a big part on a drag radial (depending on it's size)
Great info, thank you. Im curious, you reference big power cars would benefit from a different setup. What would you consider a big power car. 8-900hp ? Also how much of this would change with a stick car?
The main difference is the shock setting. Low power cars like mine 500 can run the shock full loose so you get max separation. You risk tire shake when it unloads with higher hp cars. this is where a double adjustable shock would come in to play. There are a lot of factors depending on your combo. I could go on and on.lol!
I had that setup as well on a previous car. It works well out of the box. All I did was play with the ride height and set the piñon to -2.5. If the rear is to high you have to lower it. Depending on the weight of your car there springs may not be right.
Personally I would stiffen that frontend up as long as you continue to hook and your rpm comes up fast enough. All excess frontend movement beyond keeping tires from spinning is wasted ET.

Great explanation and video. Really good info 👍
Hey thank you so much for this video.Very informative
Your welcome👍🏼
Good simple explanation. Now mark the side of a Foxbody showing where you want your instant center base on rwhp
Amazing quality content video!!

430s might be to much for the quarter.

See you out there. 👍🏼

Don’t over do it. 1 coil cut of stock springs is about perfect.

No

Yes. If you have aftermarket uppers and lowers, wheel hop shouldn’t be an issue.
Size tire are you running on the back. And also what size wheel are you running, cuz I've heard the width of the wheel can play a big part on a drag radial (depending on it's size)
8 inch wheel. Yea a lot of people like to stretch the tire on a wider wheel and yes that does work well.
@@fox-body Are you running like a 275, 26 in talll drag radial then

Would a rear sway bar work as an anti roll bar I’m assuming not
It’s not the same. Sway bars work different.
Great info! I have a team Z grip 1 setup in my fox. They did the geometry for you and you can't change it, only pinion angle. Any suggestions?

What's your 60 foot with the car?
Nice video bro! What are you running on the front of your car?
Personally I would stiffen that frontend up as long as you continue to hook and your rpm comes up fast enough. All excess frontend movement beyond keeping tires from spinning is wasted ET.
Lowering the rear have the same effect on independent rear? Like my SC300?
Would i cut 1 coil off on stock v8 rear springs
Yes
Great info! Love the car, I'm thinking of swapping a 2JZ into a notchback after my Coyote hatchback is done. How was your swap?
It was pretty easy. A lot of info out there on jz’s.
Where would I want my IC with 500 rwhp , 3500 stall, 275 radials, foot braking?
Foot braking 500 hp on 275s should hook up pretty good. But I would cut 1 coil of stock springs.
@@fox-body I’m using MM springs, 1.5” lower than stock.
@@petejoseph8257 those might work. Typically lowering springs are not good for drag racing.
Thats awesome ,you don't use a airbag?
No
That was my 'shocked' thought too...
Your best 60
Mid 1.4 with this car. Low 1.2 with my race car years ago with a similar setup.
You’re on radials making 400 hp talking about “tire shake”. Lmao 😂.
Not too strong on the listening skills are ya
