- Hi guys,
After installing the DCS lithium batteries into the 200 in January 2021, I thought I'd let you know how they have performed so far. Without telling you the details on here (watch the video for that) Lets just say Im pretty happy so far.

DCS, very bold behaviour. Tut tut
Come on I bought these 3years ago before all the stuff going on these days. Mine still worked fine when I sold the car with them in it. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
I bought a 200 amp lithium battery for a camper just last week. In doing my research I found out DCS go around suing individuals who had poor performance and said so. There price was ok but that info put me off as I would have said so as well if I had problems. So I bought the Renogy pro 200amp. THEN I found out DCS changed their warranty mid stride and allegedly tried to hide the proof. I feel like I dodged a bullet.
Hi mate, I don't blame you. I purchased the batteries 3 years ago before all of this was going on and this clip is 2 years old. I am aware of all of the current proceedings and hope it all ends well. I can only go on my experience with these batteries which at the time of selling the car were still working fine after 3 and a bit years. I did not do a capacity test on them so I don't know how they were but they did everything asked of them in my situation so that's all I could hope for. I'm not sticking up for DCS but I'm not bagging them either as I said in my personal experience I had no problems with them. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
Be good to get another update and review including a capacity test to see how they are handling life under the bonnet of the big rig.
Hi mate, I would like to have done that but unfortunately the 200 is gone. I can tell you that although I dont have any numbers to show, the batteries were physically fine and I was still getting plenty of start power after 4 days running fridge and camp lights without topping up. Sorry I cant give you better info than that. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
Once you go lithium you never go back
Thanks for sharing I’m sure a lot out there will get some good info off this clip
👍👍
Thanks mate. Cheers Steve
Good episode Steve I love how your fridges on a diet 🤣🤪 I've changed to lithium for my auxiliary battery. A Alibaba special have my 65 litre fridge working 24/7 👍
Nice mate, Im loving the lithium life. Cheers Steve
It's on the list. Thanks Steve. Cheers Jim
Thanks Jim, I love them. Cheers Steve
Real good setup there Steve. A lot more involved than mine, but then I don't use mine for more than overnight.
Thanks Scott Ive been loving them so far. Cheers Steve
Hi Steve - thanks for the video. I have the DCS180 setup in my LC300 and am finding the 'feedback' on SOC very problematic. When first installed it would hover up around 95%+ with bi-weekly driving, LC parked on street and 300W solar on roof to keep it topped up in between. 40l drawer fridge permanently on. I then managed to run them down until the BMS shut both batteries down as my camper was not on an ignition disconnect circuit (since fixed!). The SOC when 'woken up' was obviously 0% but what surprised me was it took 25 hours of driving before I was any SOC above 15% until, after an overnight stop and hitting the freeway in the morning it 'suddenly' was back at 96%. I have since started parking in a garage and after a week (with Victron load disconnect manually disconnecting fridge etc loads) the BMS again shut both batteries down. In the two weeks since I have seen Bat 1 SOC come up to 13% and Bat 2 remains showing 0%.
What has been your experience with SOC readings?
Thanks Flying Deck
Hi mate, thanks for watching and reaching out. I have had the DCS batteries for about 3 and a half years now. I honestly don't look at the SOC very often unless I feel that there's an issue. I have never run mine flat so the BMS has not shut them down (more good luck than good management I think). I can tell you that I have NOT seen SOC over about 90% for quite a while now, but as I said I don't check all that often. I still use the 200 for touring and camping duties and have not ever had the load disconnect activate. So my personal experience has been great. The lowest I have ever seen was 28% on 1 and 32% on the other. They were back into the 90s after about 3 hours. I hope this is of some help. Cheers Steve
Good story for someone that is looking at which way to go
Thanks John hopefully it helps someone. Cheers Steve
Good one Steve. Can you do one on the double swag stretcher and 23zero swag. Cheers
Great idea mate, I will do that for sure. Cheers Steve
great clip Steve Thanks, these batteries look like they are coming down in price and more competition is entering into market.... the sizing chart for your t-shirts is that correct sizing ..looks like they a like yank sizes.and can you exchange if I get it wrong.
Hi Carlo I would probably go1 size bigger mate. These batteries are rippers. Cheers Steve
Good summary Steve. Although I’m running a different brand lithium to you, I will never look back. Lead is dead. I’ve since replaced the lead battery in my motorbike with a lithium unit, and my ride on mower battery just died. Guess what’s going in it😉
Yeah Terry, once you go lithium you cant go back hey! Thanks for watching mate. Cheers Steve
G'day Terry.... are you aware of this? Stefan Fischer is being sued by DCS for defamation........ not good. th-cam.com/video/STcKvMuYdf4/w-d-xo.html
wow , i just saw another reviewer is being sued for deformation for giving his review , hope your alright , regards
Thanks mate, but I think I’ll be ok, seeing as I like the product I’m safe lol. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
The problem with lithium under the bonnet is that after 3 years (which coincidentally is the under bonnet warranty period offered by DCS) the capacity nose dives. I speak from p[ersonla experience - after 3 1/2 years, down to 65%. They just don't like a very hot environment.
No argument here mate, I wouldn’t do these again either. With that said they are still under the bonnet now and they are 3 years old. I did these at a time when very few had experience with this style of setup.
My opinion is they are not ideal but will do the job required. Also I still have not done a capacity test on them. I expect they’re nowhere near as good as they should be, but they have lasted their warranty period so at this time I can’t complain.
I’m not defending these batteries but so far they are still doing what I require. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers Steve
Very nice sharing my dear respected friend full support and Big likes from Ahmed Ali Nizamani 💕🥰💞
Thanks very much for the kind words and support mate. Cheers Steve
Haha. 20% of 200 is not 20 but 40amp hours. It just happened to be the first part of your review I landed on. I’m thinking of buying these batteries but today I heard a few bad things with handling heat but still trying to weigh up and decide
Im no mathematician lol. I have had these under the bonnet now for over 2 years, trouble free. Cheers Steve
What about now? Be good to see a full capacity test on all batteries. Especially base on some other popular youtubers results.. Turns out, they are no good.
Yeah I’ve seen those clips too. I will get them tested at some stage soon. Cheers Steve
Will be interesting mate
7:30 If an AGM "only gives you 50 % discharge" , wouldn't that be 100%?? If that is ALL it gives....ALL is 100%.....
Fair enough, I'll give you that. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
Junk batteries
I have seen and heard that but now at over 3 years old mine are fine. I’m aware of all stuff going on at the moment and accept they’re not the best but as stated I was happy with them when fitted and are still going strong.
I guess time will tell. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your point of view. Cheers Steve
Well they come with brackets now.
No actual battery tests?...
Man you must have failed year 5 maths.... thats some weird +×÷%🤣
Never mind you could still do the budget for the liberals 🙄 🤣
A 200 charge rate is not 100amp...
A good bms for a lipo4 should stop before 100% it achieves little but stresses them the most.
You missed the cost saving of all the bits and bobs not needed. Let along easy and speed of charge.
A good bcdc 50amp one is over a 1000 and they also hate heat and slow charge. Let alone cost to be wired up right...
Fair enough mate, Never claimed to be a maths guru. Just a guy telling you my thoughts. Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
