15 years ago my hubby surprised me with a tiny baby parrot called a parrotlet, they are the size of a finch. He passed from old age last year at 14 years old.
@Sqrlyshrly A perfect gift..one that you remember..l lovebit when they put thought into 🎁 gifts..its shows they love you and care what makes you happy..
You got THAT right! My ex would give me things HE wanted with the excuse of us having more time together as he would teach me how to use them! Yeah right, THAT part of my "gift" never happened.
Hi folks, when is "Horse Plus Vets" coming back? Now that you have both Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina on staff full-time, obviously there are lots of vet procedures being done. It's understandable that you have to blur out some of the more non-family-friendly procedures, but many of us grown-ups and older teens enjoy learning so much from being able to view the full procedures.
Black Beauty now looks absolutely stunning. Again, as he got even more beautiful you clearly see the good care and love for animals at Horse Plus. I really hope he gets a loving forever home where he can have the happy life he so deserves.
@dianasherrill6154 they did a DNA test on him. He's lipizanner, akhal-teke, and another middle eastern breed that's small but tends to be black or bay. Lipizanners start black but turn white as they age. Also probably where he gets the neck arch and mane. And I think the metallic traits of the akhal-teke is what makes makes the blue shimmers in his coat.
Oct 2022 we found 2 dogs at the city shelter that needed to be adopted together. A 2 yr old male & a 3yr old female, both anxious & penned together. The shelter did the spay & neuter, applied a tattoo on each, as well as micro chipped & initial shots. They are small, female was 20 lbs & had slightly enlarged nipples, the male was 25 lbs, needed total body clip, as coat was thick & matted. My guess is they were breeding mill dogs & not handled much. Now a year later, they are still a challenge on being social with strangers, but are fine with the 2 of us, although for safety, we are medicating prior to vet visits, as they are not behaving well, being very protective of us. I can do the grooming without there being drama. The last vet visit found both tested positive for Lyme disease immunity, which we treated with appropriate med. We do have a 14 acre farm & they were both found with ticks after walks, so them testing positive did not surprise me. With the treatment they received we should be fine. Both were negative for heart worm & will be treated monthly, year around for three different types of worms. Prior to getting these two dogs, we had been adopting senior or disabled dogs. When these dogs passed wanted to continue to adopt and found these two. We feel very blessed to be able to bring them to our farm and hope that over time they will become more social & less intimidated meeting new people. We know we have our work cut out for us, but are really enjoying them and they seem to be enjoying being here with us. Please adopt if you are thinking of getting a new pet. So many dogs are euthanized because people want “pure breeds”, then start breeding them, just adding to the problems. Is it really worth the money? JMHO
No. It's not worth it. I get so mad when I see people that come to buy Xmas trees and don't want to pay the price yet they have a Cane Corso female pup and small children. And are talking about breeding her. It drives me insane. There is not a big call for these animals except by those that just want to look special. And the animals suffer. Same with pits. Over bred for no reason except wanting to look tough in most cases.
@@barbrice721 My oldest brother and his wife lost their dog & she insisted on getting a $2500 toy mix breed puppy, that has been the worse decision ever made. She’s a biter, shredder, absolute hazard, right from the start. I swear the breeder saw my sister in law coming a mile away & sold the worse one out of the litter. From her behavior, although she is less than 4 pounds, that’s full grown, she’s worse than the huge dogs people seem drawn to! When I told her we spent $200 for both dogs at the shelter and all that that included, she could not believe it. (Spay/neuter, shots, microchips, nails trimmed, male body clipped) . Yes, we do have to socialize them, it’s just my husband & me, no kids, so they are over protective. The vet did give me meds to calm them down for visits & that did help. I do the grooming, tried to take to a groomer & that didn’t go well. I have to body clip my pony 2 times per year due to Cushing’s disease, so I’m not intimidated by the dog. When it’s just me I don’t have to give anything, but I’m glad I’ve got backup if needed. Fortunately it is only the male that grows the heavy coat, the female has a very fine, wispy coat, we named her Phyllis Dillar , that who she reminds us of. I’m glad the breeder took these two to the shelter, neither would be good blood lines to continue, but I’m pretty certain Phyllis had at least 1 litter, her teats were still elongated with slight swelling around them. At the shelter they were in a run together & had to be adopted together, so there was definitely something up. If separated they get anxious, unless they do it on their own. Now my sister in law has it in her head that she should hold off on spaying her dog. Supposed to be dangerous & unhealthy. Hard telling where she heard that from. I am old school, spay or neuter. Don’t risk an unwanted pregnancy, especially in such a small dog, it could kill her. Thank for letting me vent. God bless!
@@barbrice721 I get very frustrated with folks that spend hundreds to thousands on purebreds. I’ve got a relative who has spent thousands on some toy breed, that she can’t train & there are constant issues with biting, etc. With the adopting of the 2 we adopted, they are a mix. I am guessing on the male a poodle golden cross, as he has such a thick coat, but is only 25 pounds, now a 3 yr old. The female is wire haired toy breed cross, only 20 pounds, now 4, We were able to get both for $200, which included spay & neuter, microchipped, all shots. We were able to adopt together, which was needed. They are very dependent on each other. It will be 2 yrs this Oct that we got them, they are adjusting very well, on leash they now go out to the barn and see the pony without barking and they are much better behaved on the leash. People have to figure out their priorities. I would also find it frustrating that folks won’t pay full price for your trees, but have no issue spending money on a pure breed of dog. Folks don’t appreciate the work that goes into raising quality trees, it’s not a plant and forget about them until it gets big enough to cut. But then farmers as a whole are under appreciated for the year around job that it is. Hope you have a good season and thanks for replying to my comment.
I am always amazed at the depth of knowledge and talent that a good veterinarian must have. A different set of data for each type of animal. Plus a love for all creatures.
Dr Lydia is one of those very interesting people, worked in Africa, familiar with elephan rectums, cat penis sizes, and did hunting/jumping style riding, extremely intelligent yet extremely kind/compassionate with her animals. To the crew that does the editing, I just want to say great job!!! You leave those less desirable to TV moments in, making it feel like we are actually there, and not that everything is edited out. Great job the the entire team really.
What a genuine and wholehearted video this week! Between the most resilient animals, the absolute amazing & selfless staff, volunteers and the adopters ready to give these animals the homes they've always deserved! ❤ Found myself smiling over and over from start to end. ❤
Dr Lydia, I personally wouldn’t have you (attached quickly) any other way. As far as I’m concerned you are our Mary Poppins….perfect in every way!! We are so lucky to have you!!!!!! There a few others at HP too. So you can now answer to Mary and feel confident that you are answering to the correct name !!!
Seeing the Dr's working together is wonderful, I love them both! So glad Fiesta is doing so good, hope she doesn't have any more attempts at being an Olympic Jumper haha 💜
I’m so happy to see this!! I’ve looked at rescues in the past from the US and was excluded from applications because I’m in Canada. This is wonderful to know about! Congratulations on the continued improvements to your facility; the changes in vet care and stabling is amazing. I’m appalled by the roadblocks you keep facing with local beaucracy. Keep up the good fight!!
I always look forward to Thursdays episodes. So kuch good stuff happening at HP. Love to watch the vet procedures and the explanations from Dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina, they seem to work so well together. I will miss seeing black beauty leave, he's so pretty to look at. Im happy for all the animals that find new homes, hopefully forever homes. Thank you all HP staff for all your hard work and dedication to the animals. God Bless you all 😇
Huge shout out to Angela and Dawn. They are always working so hard behind the scenes. Kory's mustache is coming in awesome! Jordan, Hi nice to see ya. The young girl that adopted Sissy, her smile could not get any bigger. Fabulous! I hope the Canadian adopters return, it would be a first. The best part was the magnificent valentine's gift Troy got for his girl. Ralph is going to be a treasure. One thing I was really shocked at was that none of the Horse Plus family adopted Black Beauty. Peace.
I wonder what happened to have Fiesta stitched up with catgut. That’s such a sturdy and aggressive material. Really impressed with Dr. Lydia, Dr. Gina and your whole vet barn! I would love more in depth episodes about the veterinary care but am very thankful for every video you give us 🧡
;lovely show guys and beautiful animals who need a better home and I am glad that everything is looking ok and lot of love is glad shared with an animal and what lovely people from Canada - again sharing the world wide message -- please adopt
Black Beauty is an Akhal-Teke! Very rare in the US. They are from the Mid East - but then you probably know this already. They can do dressage or anything the Hot Bloods can.
3 colors cat and blue eyes, so beautiful, sadly I’m living in Germany so it’s too far away for adoption, but I wish him lots of luck 🍀 to live with awesome people soon 🍀💜💚💖💚💜
I'll miss seeing Black Beauty. I would love to have been in the position to adopt him, but was enjoying him long distance. Maybe we will get to see him one more time as he gets ready to head to his new home?
I have only recently started watch this channel, and have seen the newer clips, it’s such a blow for the team to lose Kory, obviously he has to pay his bills, and you can’t live without money. I know he will be successful in the future, he seems genuine, and I’m sure you need to be to train untrusting animals. Hope to see him come back and visit.
I feel so sorry for Fiesta having those stitches that were the wrong type put in and having them create more misery down the line in her life as this very same thing happened to me and I had to be lanced with a scalpel with no freezing and flipped over so the poison would not enter my body or I could have died before making it to a hospital to have them removed there.
Cudos to Troy, now THAT‘S a Valentine‘s Day gift! 😊 Black Beauty is getting adopted, how exciting! All of the adoptions are always so sweet. And I am really looking forward to see the Costa Rica Video! My aunt has lived her last years in Costa Rica and just recently passed away. Great episode, thank you so much!
I am glad about, and solidly behind, your efforts lobbying in DC. The current laws, with regards to our equine population at risk, are inadequate and the results are shameful. In America, we should be able to do better than we are. Cheers for Godiva-->Persephone! Cheers for Ralph! Cheers for Sissy! ...and cheers for adoption appointments for Fiesta and Black Beauty! ...and Bowie or Pilgrim and 'a cat'!!! Cheers to HPHS!
Troy is such an intragal part of HPH. I love to watch him with the horses. And he’s mechanically inclined. Keep him around as long as you can. Also, I believe you go to the “Hopi” Nation in Arizona to do veterinary work but I’ve been hearing it pronounced “happy” and “hoppy” on your videos. The Hopi People pronounce it with a long “o” and the “e” sound on the end. Like Hope(y). (just in case you go again). From Diane in Arizona. Love all you guys.
I love having seen the progress of this organization and channel! Keep going, please!! ^__^ Dr. Gina, I love your Mononoke tattoo!! Cory, I like your ECV tattoo!
Thats what these neglected horses need and thank god for the vets that volunteer their time the more the merrier they also need more scientists to dicover all kinds of problems horses have, such shivers, a pill to take for colic and all kinds of things eye transplants, hearing aids, oxygen masks, all kinds of stuff etc. When people have knee problem where bone on bone they give a foam of the rooster combe its a foam that raises the bone off the bone i bet they could use that on horses also its worth a try. From SB from Brooklyn the horses that get put down should be donated to vet science it will other horses to stay alive much longer with the help of vet scientists. From SB Bklyn. NY
What a fantastic episode guys ❤ This was so positive and upbeat, so much happening and lots of animals finding forever homes. I can’t wait to hear more about HP’s campaigns and the outcome. 2024 just has to be the year for the equines in the USA and if anyone can do it, it will be you guys. 🙏🏻❤️
The horse blanket thing really depends on the coat your horse has and if you shave it. Taking it of at 4.5 degrees Celsius (40F for the weird ones out their ;-) ) can be low, but 15 C is high enough for most shaved horses Having a blanket on does conserve energie when it's colder, but that's mostly usefull when you should be feeding your horses more
Sorry. I just couldn’t resist. It’s pronounced (Hope-ee) nation. Hop-ee nation is a little off. Please take this in the light to which it is intended as a gentle bit of help. ❤ Y’all are awesome.
G’day HPHS Teams Supporters & Co ;-) Congratulations another exceptional episode! Congratulations Troy fiancé & family welcoming Ralph into your family 😽 xo Tawnee & Jason I can see you both living and working in the big smoke for a while, until you get the status quo changed for the betterment of all, not only locally, nationally, but internationally! Much kudos! You have one of the best teams on the 🌏 planet, synergy is terrific! Congratulations to all the wonderful adopters may you make many memories together! Love watching exceptional volunteers eventually becoming part of the team. With many source blessings with truth clarity love light laughter happiness joy fun play creativity adventures abundance wisdom wealth health and may peace be with you all! Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 xox
Great show and yes eventually I would like to get a horse shelter hero t-shirt I will use it when I barrel race. I am so happy for all the adopters that got their animals. Tawnee good luck in Washington DC I hope you get everything that you strive for because you really need to fight for all of the injustices that are done in Tennessee. 💕🐎🐾
I would think plucking that hair out would hurt like crazy. I know they’re asleep, but I wonder if it would hurt when they woke up. I think shave me is much more humane. That black and white cat is gorgeous so different the color. I’d love to have it.
How come the Amish are no where on your slaughter chart? Especially under race horses. They go right to the track to get spent but usable Standardbreds all the time. Please add them to the chart.
MY AUNT IS THE ONE WHO ADPOTED FIESTA!!!
That's awesome! Hope she's doing well.
Dr. Lydia is like a talking veterinary textbook!
She certainly is gifted with a wonderful teaching ability.
My boyfriend in high school gave me a kitten one year and a husky the next. My mother said: "Why can't he give you candy and flowers like a normal boy!" But that guy GOT me!
Finally a man who knows what his wife would love for Valentine’s Day that’s not flowers or chocolate lol

Totally agree plus just having a dog makes your home less of a target for thieves etc so it makes her safer. It's a perfect gift.
You got THAT right! My ex would give me things HE wanted with the excuse of us having more time together as he would teach me how to use them! Yeah right, THAT part of my "gift" never happened.
Black Beauty just hits different doesn't he. When he prances into a room, he owns it! So much flair ❤
you can really see the Akhal Teke blood in this guy. He is gorgeous!
Elegant, sublime, and very intelligent!
The cat who got shaved 😂 his face be like ‘you took my clothes off, that was not part of the plan, I’m naked’. 😂😂😂
Lol

I love seeing Dr.’s Lydia and Gina working together! What great teaching images.
Love the doc!
The two what I would call a dream team. A very worthy replacement for Dr. Nancy, who is also a fantastic vet.
I'm a little concerned that the microchip is contaminated!! Call the manufacturer. Love your video.
I know he's not an arab but black beauty looks like what I imaged while I read all of those Walter Farley books
Black Beauty now looks absolutely stunning. Again, as he got even more beautiful you clearly see the good care and love for animals at Horse Plus. I really hope he gets a loving forever home where he can have the happy life he so deserves.
I think he is a Friesan corss. Look at those ears.
Gorgeous horse!
@emmawilde152 the other breed was Caspian! Such an interesting and beautiful mix of such rare breeds.
Yay. It's Horse Plus day. ❤
Dr. Lydia front and center!
Black Beauty’s ears are adorable
Horse Plus is changing the world for each animal that comes through their doors!
Omg Dr. Gina needs to take that cat home. I can tell they’re both in love 😍
I live in Australia but i will ask my parents if i could one day donate to help you guys improve and help more and more animals in the future❤❤❤

“She’s 13 so of course she’s going to choose the prettiest one” 😆😆 He’s no fool lol
Hopi is pronounced ho pee. Long o.
A perfect Valentine’s day gift!
Was just looking at Black Beauty. His ears almost look like those on a Malwari horse where they are curved,…he is so beautiful!
We can't contribute alot each month but if we win the lottery......
🌺I just absolutely love Black Beauty’s ears!!! He’s so different and handsome!!! I wish that I could adopt him…🎠
I love having seen the progress of this organization and channel! Keep going, please!! ^__^
Dr.
I just adore your vets!!❤❤Actually all the staff at HP. You all do such amazingly great work every day. Bless you all!!
Where is the trainer, Lyric?
The horse blanket thing really depends on the coat your horse has and if you shave it. Taking it of at 4.5 degrees Celsius (40F for the weird ones out their ;-) ) can be low, but 15 C is high enough for most shaved horses
Having a blanket on does conserve energie when it's colder, but that's mostly usefull when you should be feeding your horses more
Sorry. I just couldn’t resist. It’s pronounced (Hope-ee) nation. Hop-ee nation is a little off. Please take this in the light to which it is intended as a gentle bit of help. ❤ Y’all are awesome.
Glad Fest is all healed up
WOOT! Im from Canada too!! Thank you for all your hard work guys!!
Thank you to both vets great job 😊

Congratulations Troy fiancé & family welcoming Ralph into your family 😽 xo
Tawnee & Jason I can see you both living and working in the big smoke for a while, until you get the status quo changed for the betterment of all, not only locally, nationally, but internationally! Much kudos!
You have one of the best teams on the 🌏 planet, synergy is terrific!
Congratulations to all the wonderful adopters may you make many memories together!

Look at that puppy with the three big dots on its back that is so cute. I would love to have that one.
Great episode. Thanks for sharing. Thank goodness you Dr. Lydia found those sutures.
You do really great work. Keep it up guys.
Lining up and waiting.
Loved the show today, it's wonderful that so many animals are being adopted, the vets are a blessing, actually you all are a blessing. ❤❤😊
Great episode. My favorite part are the adoptions.
Tawnee, you are so very talented :)
I think Godiva couldn't have found a better forever home! ❤(R)
Thanks for another interesting episode!
Love Doc. Lydia so amazing!❤
Nice adoptions! (Is Keith being punished? lol!)
I would think plucking that hair out would hurt like crazy. I know they’re asleep, but I wonder if it would hurt when they woke up. I think shave me is much more humane. That black and white cat is gorgeous so different the color. I’d love to have it.
💜💜💜💜💜 you guys!!!!!!
luv black beauty!!!!
Love watching. So wish I could adopt a puppy but can't right now. I will say, Dr. Gina is my favorite to watch though.🙂
Great video guys.

I just love seeing adoptions and all the kitties too Thanx for all you do everyone ❤
How come the Amish are no where on your slaughter chart? Especially under race horses. They go right to the track to get spent but usable Standardbreds all the time. Please add them to the chart.
