    Well done guys! If drain and fill bolts don't come out easy don't put torque on them. You can easily crack the aluminum case. Fluid is ATF+4 only.

    The hardest part of this job is drilling out the sheared bolt holding in your transfer case skid plate.

    Before we get “staaarted”. Those gas tank skid plates always rot out.

    ALL certified ATF+4 is SYNTHETIC. It must be so to meet Chryslers ATF+4 spec.

    Manual says to use ATF +4 but they used regular old synthetic transmission fluid. I mistakingly used Valvoline max life synthetic (red bottle) and am thinking it was wrong but others say the transfer case just needs lube and dextron VI is fine. Not sure what to think.

      You should use what is recommended in your owner's manual.

    That was very helpful since I am considering buying a jk crd , I know you don’t get the diesel jks in America but what’s your opinion about the 2.8 vm motori ? I am worried about the reliability of the motor since my current Jeep has the 4.0 which is literally a bulletproof engine

      I have a 2008 JK with the V6 it's not bad. They are not too bad to work on but the neutral safety switch was bad in it when I bought it. Something mr. used car lot guy didn't inform me about...not happy. Steve and I did a video on it...it's pretty involved to replace it.

    How many miles did you have on your Jeep when this was done? My 2016 only has around 55K miles on it but thinking I may as well do it along with the tranny now so I know it’s good for many more years. Only thing I change regularly other than the oil is my diffs which I’ve done at least 3-4 times now as they are so easy to do especially with the room underneath with the lift and 35’s. Thanks

      The transfer case fluid should typically be replaced every 30,000 miles.

  • @BenedictHudson

    do you wan the fluid warm or cool when doing this?

    After how many miles did you have to change it?
    And what type of oil did you use?

    • @jakealcazar3805
      @jakealcazar3805 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You wanna aim for every 30,000 miles with trans and transfer case changes, and every 60,000 for trans filter and gasket.

    what do you do if the 10 mm plug is corroded and doesn't want to come off? That's my problem. Same with the differential plugs.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Try to hit them with some PB Blaster penetrating oil. Usually this will help to break them free.
