    23 years as a line tech and I have never seen tin foil used for that. I have always cut up an antifreaze jug. Awesome!!!!!

    I changed the transmission fluid in my 6 speed manual using a tool I purchased from Amazon and only a little more than 2 quarts drained out.
    I pumped in about the same amount of Royal Purple Sychromax oil. I thought I'd have about 3 quarts out, but it was a little more than 2.
    The Sychromax from Royal Purple is working out really well.

      What was the product ID for the part on amazon? and what was the weight of the sychromax?

      They also meant manual transmissions with high miles on them.

    FYI - no need to cut off the 17mm allen wrench socket. Just turn it over, drive it out with a pin or bolt. Comes out easy, then you can put it back in when done.

    for a 17m hex bit, i bought the metric hex socket set from harbor freight, then used a punch to press out the hex bit from the socket ;-) can then press it back in when done

      It will be too long as the area is very tight and decreases as the plug unthreads, making it almost impossible to pull out of the plug. My approach was to purchase a 17mm Allen hex wrench and paid to have it cut to a length that would provide enough room to wiggle it out of the plug hex, about 1/4” past the wrench radius tangent point. Works like a charm😊👍!

  • @96limpfold
    @96limpfold 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just a tip you can hammer out the 17mm Allen from the socket and just put it back in when your done. Dont destroy the tool.

    Instead of cutting up bit sockets, etc. to make a special tool, just unbolt both exhaust manifolds at engine from the catalytic converter y-pipe (the part that is in the way). There are two bolts on each manifold. I did this and had enough room to put the whole bit socket in there. couldn't fit the ratchet though. Just turned it with an open end wrench.
    Also be sure to use fluid spec to MS-9224 due to the sulfides and brass.

    MOPAR NSG 370 - NV3500 is impossible to find in Italy.

    Mopar recommends changing your trany fluid every 30,000 miles ... Not changing it can lead to synchros going bad, abnormal wear and can eventually lead to terminal break down... Sounds like you need new fluid and may have a synchro going out!!!! Use amsoil synchromesh and see if that helps! Good luck man pm me if you need more help or have other issues

    for anyone with a jk/jku that has watched this wondering how they will get to their drain plug w/ the exhaust in the way... I bought this, and used a 17mm wrench. It is small enough to fit under the exhasut pipe. worked perfect. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AM0Y450/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Is that normal to have that much metal and shavings on the magnetic plug?

    • @boris9305
      @boris9305 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, depends on how often you change the smaller the interval the better because if that plug is clogged up it cant catch the shavings. only time to worry is when there are big shards in it, which is usually a result of not servicing.

      Doesn't need to be supported, the transmission doesn't rest on the skid plate.

    ive been thinking about doing this myself. i have 125,000 on my '07 jeep wrangler jk. recently had anew clutch installed. everything has been great - but recently ive been having - for lack of better words "skidding or jumping" hesitation when im putting her into 1st gear. this only happens when the jeep has been warmed up and driven for awhile. do u think maybe the tranny oil has just run its course and needs changing? thanks for the tutorial and any info you may have.

    I've had several knowledgeable jeep people warn against changing out transmission fluid after high miles of 90,000 or more. They say it may cause slipping due to wear and fresh oil. I was told it will cause transmission problems in less than 2 years. It's ok to add. Never change completely.

    • @hisaddle
      @hisaddle 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are talking about automatic transmissions. TH-cam search how manual transmissions work and you will see there are big gears in there connecting. An automatic transmission works totally different, fluid pressure pushes on clutch discs to engage gears. Google and TH-cam search these different things. Hope that helps.

    What in the ever-loving fuck was Jeep doing when they did this. I'm not an engineer, but it seems like they could have just added like 1 inch of pipe to each side of the exhaust to put the crossover part further down and this job would be way easier. Easier plug removal, easier fluid drain.

  • @jerryemt2001
    @jerryemt2001 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Poor designing by Jeep on where they put that drain plug.

    • @blusky7072
      @blusky7072 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Difficult but not overwhelming. Buy the special wrench from Jeep or fabricate one yourself. Find a hex nut that is 17mm across flats and have it welded onto a 1/8" or 1/4" piece of flat stock.
