Home run guys! Because of these high quality tutorials I was able to complete, with confidence mind you, fluid replacements on my transfer case and front/rear differentials. The dealer wanted $500 parts/labor. My total investment was $100 which included OEM fluids, Royal purple, hand pump, metric socket set and torque click wrench. Thanks again!
Yet another awesome video! Looks like I'm going to save a ton on my maintenance!! Thanks guys. These videos are the best, especially for newbie wrenchers!!!
Great video. Its refreshing to watch someone who makes an informational dyi video that cuts straight to the point, and has no fillers. Also great explanation without going on and on. Plus the beginning that shows exactly the items needed to accomplish the task. Bravo!

Thanks for the how to video! This really means a lot to us do it yourselfers. With the cost of maintenance being sky high, this really helps the wallet. Do you by chance also have a how to video on Transmission and Differentials change? Huzzah!
Happy to hear our video was helpful to you. The automatic transmission on the JL and JT are designed to be serviceless. As in, you shouldn't need to service them for at least 100k miles. That said, I have not seen a need to service mine. As far as differentials go, I do have a video for older JL's that come with drain plugs and you can see it here th-cam.com/video/QxHlBYnKRsQ/w-d-xo.html. I will have a newer video coming out soon that covers the newer differentials without the drain plugs soon.
Awesome! I’m motivated now because you showed how easy it is. At 22,500 on our Wrangler. I’ll do the Transfer Case when I do the fuel filter at 30,00 on our Ecodiesel.
Thank you for the video, good as always! Question on the transmission oil of JL? What’s the recommended transmission oil change given the “lifetime transmission oil” claim from FCA?
Very clean video. I like to work clean also but after my hands get a little greasy i always wash them before i touch my tools because i like to keep my tools clean also! Haha. I wash my hands pretty often while doing maintenance.

As always great video. Timing is almost perfect as I have 25000 miles on my JL. To keep the assortment of automotive fluids from staining the garage floor, I use large cardboard (in my case the Gobi roof rack box) as a spill guard. It also insulates me from the cold concrete. The jeep is due for an oil change so I might as well do the transfer case too before I hit some trails this week. Looking forward to more videos like this.
Have you ever tried to use Royal Purple max atf instead of ATF+4? I did this for my AW4 in my XJ and saw significant improvements. It is rated to replace ATF+4.
The all new 8-speed automatic transmission is considered to be "serviceless" as in, you shouldn't need to change the fluid in it for 100k miles or more. This is why it has no dip stick. The 6-speed manual does require fluid change once every 30k miles but there is no filter.

The 4L is part of the transfer case and the D is part of your transmission. They are 2 different things and have separate fluid. The transmission is sold as being "serviceless" and should not need any changing or at least, for 100k miles or so.
Turned into a cluster. Trying to take the skid plate bolts off, one of the welded nut plate inside the frame broke loose, now I have a loose bolt that rattles!
@@wayalife as a newbie I should have done the research. Taking a skid plate off is a hit and miss. Luckily this was the first bolt. You should not advise taking off the skid plate.
@@donausmus4281 In the over 25 years that I have been doing this Jeep thing, I have NEVER had an issue with removing bolts. Skid plates are purposefully designed to be removed so that you can service your Jeep and replace worn components. The fact that you had trouble is an exception and not the norm. Sucks that it happened to you but that seems to be more a case of poor quality control at Jeep than an error to do.
@@wayalife I concur. Not sure what to do. Bolt needs to be cut off somehow and a nut rivet installed. Afraid to take the other bolts off though. A 2022 Gladiator!!!

Great video as always. Dumb question: Does the transfer case fluid cover both the levers used to change 4L and the lever to change to D?
The 4L is part of the transfer case and the D is part of your transmission. They are 2 different things and have separate fluid. The transmission is sold as being "serviceless" and should not need any changing or at least, for 100k miles or so.
Turned into a cluster. Trying to take the skid plate bolts off, one of the welded nut plate inside the frame broke loose, now I have a loose bolt that rattles!
Sorry to hear that.
Can you use the teflon tape on the bolts that I have from the diff change?
Yes. But again, you need to make sure that it's the yellow or chemical resistant kind. But, the paste is better.
Can Teflon tape be used like in the differential video? Or is it better to use the paste like in this video?
Yes, tape can be used so long as it's the chemical resistant type. Paste is better though.
Great content!
