I bought this bike 1 week ago! Getting it delivered when I get home in April. Can not wait to get on it! Got the QS, KTM My Ride, MSR and ergo seats, tank pads with the akra slip-on for starters =)
RJ how do I convince my Mum into letting me get a bike? My Dad's alright with it as he used to ride himself back in the day but my Mum is threatening to put sugar in the gas tank if I was to get one.

So, she said: "I don't care what you say about bikes! I don't want you dead, they are too dangerous even more off the motorway" I wasn't planning on going on the motorways, where I live is a small town but there isn't any narrow roads or anything like that
The "stay tuned" means he changed :p it's probably only waiting for a service to install full akra exhaust system, maybe different tires, braking and clutch levers, a shorter tail and blinkers.
personally I don t understand why no orange in this ktm, yes the bike is better.. but the appereance is more like a kawa z1000.. where is the ktm orange style????
Yup, it also doesn't fit in with the rest, along with the lines of the light pod, it seems as if someone plucked them off the shelf and chucked them on. There's no continuity.
Just bought one two weeks ago, it's a lot of fun, fast, easy to control, under normal riding conditions it gets around 55 miles to the gallon in rain mode .
RJ mines being delivered tomorrow! in black. It's the most excited I've ever been about getting a new toy! Not gonna get much sleep tonight! 😁 thanks for the great videos.
I used the KTM Centre at Hemel for warranty work and servicing when I owned my 990 Superduke, great guys, great service. The new 1290 looks awesome, thanks for the vid :-)
"would I change mine to this? stay tuned" What a tease RJ my bet is your tempted and if the deal is right its' gonna be done. ie if the dealer will give a good px price and swap over all the mods from your bike (mainly the exhaust) to the new bike them maybe it will happen.
Woooohooooo new bike on the horizon. The engine braking is a good reason to change, I use it a lot but when it's too harsh it's a pain in the butt. Wider bars are great but hard work filtering
I'm on the fence about upgrading my current 2015 SD to 2017 since I put a lot of mods on the 2015 already. I do like the new display, up/down quickshifter (I only have up QS) and cruise control.
I wish they would have kept the plastic shrouds on the subframe under the passenger seat, it just looks incomplete. Other than that (and I like the orange frame on the black), I think it's an improvement. I do prefer analog tachs, but with all the other upgrade on the electronics I can overlook that.
You never blurred speedo. Front end/headlights remind me of when I arrive home and one of my dogs knows it has done something bad, head and neck down and eyes up.
Are bikes becomming TOO good? It takes away a lot of charakter, if a bike is flawless.. and maybe makes you a little bit more careless with your driving.. dont know if thats a good thing.. thoughts?
l,erwgpü3,ü2342 RJ actually talked a bit about this in his S1000XR video, he says it "feels *too* perfect", it takes the rider further away from the experience of riding and he didn't like it. I agree with him completely. As for safety, it has its ups and downs so I have mixed feelings but I absolutely do not want to feel less engaged with my bike because of things like quick shifters, traction control, ABS etc.

The safest I ever felt on a bike was with a racy tires, worn down tires no tc and no abs and 120bhp instead of the 48 I was alowed to ride.. I dont know whats more important.. a good driver performing well or a bad driver on a machine that performs well.. Easier to drive = faster = more risks, tho.. hard thing..
Must be missing something, my 1290 night still blows everything away, I havent yet felt unhappy with the setup. What I do like is the quick shifter option and headlight, I wonder if I can switch to the new light on my v1.0? All round its a good thing that KTM are continuing to invest in the model line.
Hey RJ, i was wondering if you could do some more rides on 125cc bikes as im really interested what your point of view is on them and which ones you prefer and why. Especially bikes like the Yamaha Wr125X, Husqvarna Smr125 and KTM Duke 125 (so yes supermoto's and nakeds)
Best look around yourself if you plan on buying one. Plenty of reviews online and i suggest looking at as many bikes as you can. I did this recently with the 250-400cc class of bikes and came up with about 10 bikes i was interested in and rounded it down to 3-4 i would buy. Then Money becomes the issue.
Hi. please tell us more about "less brutal version of 1.0" it´s when you twist the throttle? less aggressive acceleration? I am really interested into a 2015 SDR. thank you
I like the mirrors on this one. I know it's not popular to like mirrors on a bike, but I always feel a bike with no mirrors looks like a fly with wings pulled off... Now, I agree they should also look the part and I must say, they really go well with the rest of the look... Especially with the cool dash.
ElectroMoto I think the dash is ugly as hell, but I really do love the mirrors. Coolest stock mirrors I've ever seen although I guarantee RJ will put the Rizomas on it if he gets it, haha!
So you can lower the ABS setting on the bike? That would be fantastic, the ABS on my bike is to powerful its basically what happens to you RJ, exactly what you were saying about it.
How good is the SuperDuke when it comes to long distance rides? I have kept the same bike (my first bike) for 9 years now and I want a new bike. Though I want my next bike to be my dream bike.I basically like Streetfighters, so the KTM SD is an option for me. Though I also wanna do very very long distance road trips. How will this fair on those? If the KTM SuperDuke can handle it and can carry a good amount of luggage, then I think I'll head for the KTM. Ducati Monster was also on my list, though I can't really choose between them right now.
If I bought one of these, I'd probably get rid of that horrid headlight for a first gen one, which is much nicer looking. I'm also not entirely sold on that new dash unit either, but I'd have to live with it a bit first. It's nice that they've updated the bike and refined it a little more though.
lewis hendry my best advice is start off on a small bike and work up to more powerful machines as you gain experience. I sympathise with your mum even though i have spent my life riding and crashing bikes. Really the safest place to ride them is on the track where there are no cars trying to kill you
I would love to have one but it's hard to let go of that much money and I still have one of the old 950sm's that I've had since 06. I just can't part with it.
Hey RJ... big fan here all the way from across the pond, Nicaragua to be exact. I have the KTM Duke 200 and I love it. But I would like to see you make a video review about your thoughts on this little fun bike. I'll soon get my action camera so I can start making my videos as well and I'll be sure to give you a shout out there. Cheers, keep riding!!!
RJ, rumour has it that Sinnis offered you bikes to test ride? Is it true? Obviously they have a new range on the way with the Euro-4 rulings, I think it'd be really cool!
could someone confirm please was this exhaust setup Akra end can and stock pipes and stock cat? boy I loved this sound (and looks) boy I need to seriously consider test riding one of them
I tought the new one will use a WP Balance Free Front Fork like the new 2017 BMW HP4 Carbon or 2017 Kawasaki zx10RR, the prototype 1290 superduke version 1.0 use a tube at the front fork.
As a long time owner of a KTM, can you shed some words on Reliability ? Plus: are KTM's tricky, meaning they need constant care of The engine and so so ? Thanks for your videos, always a real pleasure to enjoy them. ( My eyes are en The new 1090 Adventure but have some concerns ... )
Do you think it's worth it to pay the extra money to get the 2017 model or get a good deal on a 2016? I can get a 2016 special edition for $14,000 or the new 2017 for $18,000.
RoyalJordanian Thanks for the quick respose, huge fan. I am considering the new model, and was thinking of taking it on medium/long (1500-3000 km)trips, and haven't had the oportunity to test one yet. Would you think it would be a lot worse that your bike? (Wind protections wise)
Schwabenrider of course it's a naked and you should take it as it is, but given the headlight design of the 2013-2016 mo, it had quite a decent wind protection, being praised for it's confort. The new model having the "face" redesigned would affect the wind deflection.
I own a SD 1290 R 2017 and also ride the 2016 mod. The new dash is better than the analog. It give you som much info from the electronics. The new SD is better than the old one.
1.0 has Orange frame, I think I'll stick with the 1.0. Love me some orange! To be fair, I'd recolour mine anyway, to matte colours (I love matte), so I could get the 2.0.
Nice short review RJ. The 2.0 also has cornering ABS isnt it, guess you didnt get to test that out :) And the speedo is same as the 2016 Duke 690. Wouldve been better if they had the bigger 6.5 inch screen like in 2017 SuperAdv1290.
thanks for the video bro I fucking loved its instrument console it's so cool like its a phone or something just wish that was a little bigger. just wish they would have put it more orange in it plus it's exhaust note is so good can you tell me how much it cost?
Hey RJ, that bike feels like it can handle highways with no problem. Do you suffer from the lack of windshield? Btw, in your opinion, would you like to see a exhaust valve system on bikes? Like the Armytrix but on bikes. I would love to develop that on my engineering senior thesis. If there isn't any around ofc.
I think the no plastics on the tail thing is just beautiful. Whoever came up with the idea of showing all that subframe is a genius
Old Ducati style
I bought this bike 1 week ago! Getting it delivered when I get home in April. Can not wait to get on it! Got the QS, KTM My Ride, MSR and ergo seats, tank pads with the akra slip-on for starters =)
Enjoy :)
I think I'm in ❤
Waiting for you to get this fully loaded :)
650ib you and Rj my top 2 vloggers. This would be the odd one out of all your bikes but a good choice👍🏿
B.J. Porte Thank you!
650ib get one..👍🏻
20 grand though... I found one for 17 grand.. still too much for a motocycle.
RJ how do I convince my Mum into letting me get a bike? My Dad's alright with it as he used to ride himself back in the day but my Mum is threatening to put sugar in the gas tank if I was to get one.

Love this...I've noted that down!
RoyalJordanian is very cool (the bike)
I'll try that now! cheers

Got mine last week. Extraordinary. I'm coming from a ducati diavel. Fit and finish on KTM is so impressive.
Hshsbs Iamgod u already Drive the 2.0!? Ist the sound with Akra nice ? Which Country r u in ?
Can you make video on 2017 ktm 390 duke
or the 125 duke
Rhys Yes or duke 125 👍
Poon Magar he's not gonna do either since he doesn't have either
Ryan M. If He loves he's fan 😍 he will definitely make video 👍
Poon if he sees your comment there is no way he will do it. "If he Loves his fans" Lmao...
Stay tuned means yes!! :P
thought exactly the same
I think the analog display looks better on this bike
Shaquille S Yes ;)
I hate this one so much, really ugly.
I love the display, but it doesn't fit at all. It looks like one that should be tucked away in the fairings of a sports bike.
it looks like a tablet
The "stay tuned" means he changed :p it's probably only waiting for a service to install full akra exhaust system, maybe different tires, braking and clutch levers, a shorter tail and blinkers.
I love to watch you and Snowcat, you are both different ends of the spectrum, and you both love and promote your bikes.
personally I don t understand why no orange in this ktm, yes the bike is better.. but the appereance is more like a kawa z1000.. where is the ktm orange style????
ItalianDuker
According to their website it is available in 2 colours, one of which has an orange frame, the other one fully black.
Ed van Andel orange and white and black, in italy we say that is the arlecchino's bike
ItalianDuker
Just missing the bells...LOL
That dashboard looks...wrong, it's like a smartphone on the handlebars
Exactly
Yup, it also doesn't fit in with the rest, along with the lines of the light pod, it seems as if someone plucked them off the shelf and chucked them on. There's no continuity.
Agreed. I also don't like the rev counter; it looks a bit too Windows 95 to me.
I wonder why they didn't go with the orange KTM theme in the software instead of this - as you beautifully put it - Win95-esque theme.
it does stand out a fair bit - think I need to see it in real life
Oh man cant wait for the 790 duke!!
nhilal tell me about it! still hoping it's released by the end of the year and not 2018!
which all models comes i dont care..RJ and nuda are made for each other...
Yes RJ is getting this. Like if you agree ;-)
Just bought one two weeks ago, it's a lot of fun, fast, easy to control, under normal riding conditions it gets around 55 miles to the gallon in rain mode .
God damn it sounds awesome, don't expect anything less for RJ's amazing and loud collection
You are the first person on youtube to give a full ride and review :)
RJ mines being delivered tomorrow! in black. It's the most excited I've ever been about getting a new toy!
Not gonna get much sleep tonight! 😁 thanks for the great videos.
Congrats. Enjoy

RJ you forgot to blurr speedo
that dash alone would convince me to buy it. amazing machine.
awesome RJ... i have a Superduke too and i am so excited to ride it in Spring...
realy nice new Intro... wish i had a intro like that
WTF??? The BRAND NEW SUPERDUKE!!!! crazy dude
Would have been good if KTM had finished it off with a Black Spring rather than a White Spring.
I don't fancy the black but i love the style changes. First thing i noticed was the display and its so much better.
Absolutely gorgeous. Love the look, the sound, the attitude.
I love the new look on the superduke 10 out off 10, plus the new electronics makes it even better
Woooohooooo new bike on the horizon. The engine braking is a good reason to change, I use it a lot but when it's too harsh it's a pain in the butt. Wider bars are great but hard work filtering
Defintely staying tune where RJ would get it😍😍
No point changing it unless you got a really good deal I think. Could always change your 1.0 bars to 2.0 if you wanted
Nice video, what ever happened to the GS1200 interest ?
Still there, need to figure out if I will have the time and place to enjoy it for what it's designed for.
"stay tuned"
That's a yes
WOW beautiful bike. I love this modernist look.
I'm on the fence about upgrading my current 2015 SD to 2017 since I put a lot of mods on the 2015 already. I do like the new display, up/down quickshifter (I only have up QS) and cruise control.
love that headlamp. it's more like it was on the prototype they showcased a couple of years back.
"Would I change mine to this?!.... Stay tuned..." damn it RJ! you like to leave people on a cliffhanger ;) amazing 2.0!
RJ does the bike turn off automatically when the person with the keys walks away from it?
I guess it will after a while, didn't try it.
I got a good chuckle at the ending
me too! as soon as he started talking i hoped for an ending like that :D
Bcus of u RJ, i bought myself the exact superduke. Ure an inspiration!
I think the new 1290 more optimized and the LED head and electronics really impressive
Are bikes becomming TOO good? It takes away a lot of charakter, if a bike is flawless.. and maybe makes you a little bit more careless with your driving.. dont know if thats a good thing.. thoughts?

Thank you for the ride & review. You do know your bikes for sure.
Don't you think guys that the speedometer is awful on the 2.0 ? seriously the one on the 1.0 was gorgeous ! What do you think ?
Must be missing something, my 1290 night still blows everything away, I havent yet felt unhappy with the setup. What I do like is the quick shifter option and headlight, I wonder if I can switch to the new light on my v1.0? All round its a good thing that KTM are continuing to invest in the model line.
Without a doubt you would upgrade if your mods can be transferred. Display is great but I miss the analogue tachometer.
Wow! It looks amazing. Nice video RJ!
those final words...
we already know what's happening
Yeah .. He's totally getting a Tuono Factory .. No jk maybe we will see a 1290 2.0 on the channel.
RJ next time you can use Ivinghoe Beacon National Trust Car Park for walk around with a nice view around 😉 if take again from Ktm centre.
Between this bike and your BMW S1000Rs, which do you prefer?
It looks so great. I can't wait to test ride it!
Weird in the video I keep looking for the front wheel, or at least to see a hint of it.
I think RJ is certainly gonna change out his old superduke for this beast. I'm waiting. 😈
RJ, did you locate the drill bit owner that damaged your tire!
nice bike man. i love your vids. keep that work on
RJ NEW BIKEE !!!!!!!!!! CAMON
love your video Mr RJ the bike looks so good, and you were in my neck of the woods hemel

Hi. please tell us more about "less brutal version of 1.0" it´s when you twist the throttle? less aggressive acceleration? I am really interested into a 2015 SDR. thank you
maybe it's less brutal because it doesn't have the akra mapping and the SAS removal kit?
This bike, my garage, three months. It shall happen
Rj could you please do a second ride on the mv agusta dragster..I own a brutale 800 and i would really like to hear your opinion on mv agustas
cheers.
I like the mirrors on this one. I know it's not popular to like mirrors on a bike, but I always feel a bike with no mirrors looks like a fly with wings pulled off... ElectroMoto
I think the dash is ugly as hell, but I really do love the mirrors. Coolest stock mirrors I've ever seen although I guarantee RJ will put the Rizomas on it if he gets it, haha!
That is a likely scenario indeed :D :D
So you can lower the ABS setting on the bike? That would be fantastic, the ABS on my bike is to powerful its basically what happens to you RJ, exactly what you were saying about it.

Ducati Monster was also on my list, though I can't really choose between them right now.
And i have to wait till April for my Beast 2.0, i preordert it in the week of the EICMA Show in Mailand :(
If I bought one of these, I'd probably get rid of that horrid headlight for a first gen one, which is much nicer looking. I'm also not entirely sold on that new dash unit either, but I'd have to live with it a bit first. It's nice that they've updated the bike and refined it a little more though.
RJ do you ever ride around St Johns Wood? Maida Vale? Want to meet you one day. :D
lewis hendry my best advice is start off on a small bike and work up to more powerful machines as you gain experience. I sympathise with your mum even though i have spent my life riding and crashing bikes. Really the safest place to ride them is on the track where there are no cars trying to kill you
That bike is a f'ing beast. There's just something about the headlight, almost makes it look like a moped... but the bike sounds and performs amazing!
Yes they did as many others do, it's rare for me to agree, only if there is enough demand or the bike interests me.
Ah I see, you're probably too cool for them anyway! Cheers for the reply!
RJ ,, what camera / mic setup are you using?
could someone confirm please was this exhaust setup Akra end can and stock pipes and stock cat? boy I loved this sound (and looks) boy I need to seriously consider test riding one of them
Great review RJ. Did they miss a sticker on the front rim????????
Is it me or is there some sort of echo when RJ is talking about the bike?
I tought the new one will use a WP Balance Free Front Fork like the new 2017 BMW HP4 Carbon or 2017 Kawasaki zx10RR, the prototype 1290 superduke version 1.0 use a tube at the front fork.
for those who haven't seen the prototype of the 790 duke it looks and sounds 10x more badass this bike is mine when it comes out for sure
Great video RJ.. STANDARD!
Sounds amazing!
awesome bike and great vid RJ !
Hi RJ, could you tell me how's the wind deflection compared to the 1.0? Is it similar or better?
Worse
RoyalJordanian Thanks for the quick respose, huge fan. I am considering the new model, and was thinking of taking it on medium/long (1500-3000 km)trips, and haven't had the oportunity to test one yet. Would you think it would be a lot worse that your bike? (Wind protections wise)
it's a naked what do you expcet?
Schwabenrider of course it's a naked and you should take it as it is, but given the headlight design of the 2013-2016 mo, it had quite a decent wind protection, being praised for it's confort. The new model having the "face" redesigned would affect the wind deflection.
Calin Cobalas got your point. Just saying you can't expect much wind protection on a naked.
Anyways have a good one mate
I own a SD 1290 R 2017 and also ride the 2016 mod. The new dash is better than the analog. It give you som much info from the electronics. The new SD is better than the old one.
Hi RJ!!! Have you experienced a keyless fail on this bike?
1.0 has Orange frame, I think I'll stick with the 1.0.
Love me some orange!
To be fair, I'd recolour mine anyway, to matte colours (I love matte), so I could get the 2.0.
KTM is Fantastic. I love this sound...
Ah KTM Hemel Hempstead, I was there a few months ago browsing
Looks like RJ going to get another bike!!!
Nice short review RJ. The 2.0 also has cornering ABS isnt it, guess you didnt get to test that out :)
And the speedo is same as the 2016 Duke 690. Wouldve been better if they had the bigger 6.5 inch screen like in 2017 SuperAdv1290.
Love that bike. What about the mt 10?? Test drive that crossplane
Is the display in mph or kph? nice channel! Greeting from peru! :D
thanks for the video bro I fucking loved its instrument console it's so cool like its a phone or something just wish that was a little bigger. just wish they would have put it more orange in it plus it's exhaust note is so good can you tell me how much it cost?
Is it yours, the new SDR? btw Nice Video. Love the sound.
Nice ride RJ, lucky you get to ride it, we don't get it here in the states for about another month.
Most bikes these days have exhaust valves. It's a naked so your on your own with the wind.
