Check out part 1 to see Alexander's military campaigns in Europe, Arabia, and India: • What if Alexander the ...
Alexander the Great is one of histories greatest questions. He conquered most of the known world by the age of 32, before he died. People throughout all ages, from Julius Caesar to Napoleon, admired Alexander for his military accomplishments. In this video, I will answer how the Macedonian empire could have gone if he Alexander the Great lived longer.

Which scenario do you think was more realistic? Which one did you guys like more? Lastly, do you think his empire could have survived for hundreds of years into the future?

Sadly i think that the first one, Empires need time to consolidate themselves and expand well, like Rome did in it's begginings, there is no garantee that Alexander's succesors would have had his sheer charisma and military talent. It was an incredible video though.

Alexander wouldnt be able to conquer india tho atleast not entirety of it.but the rest of the conquests except maybe the bosporan area and crimean area is plausible.
I dont think he would go that far up iberia, italia, illyria and dacia though.
After his death it depends if he can have a successor who is as good as him or is good enough ig but its a 50/50
Either the empire will collapse in a few decades or 1-1 and half centuries like the mongols or maybe his successors will be able to consolidate and macedon will stay on top for centuries to come till collapsing eventually.

You are the perfect person to what I need. Imagine someone with the power to go back in time, but can only exist back in time as a past life and he can only go forwards in time through reincarnation. Now you are still limited by certain things (you cannot make people understand something that is beyond their capacity, meaning even if you knew about computers, you couldn't make Ancient Egyptians create them even if you were the Pharaoh, in fact you probably shouldn't as people more likely to rise against you if you share ideas they see as possibly evil) and you cannot make yourself an heir to any empire you made in a previous life, chiefly because you would likely have children or need to have children to keep the timeline in tact for those people that need to exist. So you can make an empire but you will always have to work against your self from a previous life. And you cannot go any further back in time than Ramesses III. I'll give more specifics but it is an interesting build. However, I only have a bachelor's degree and probably no where near as studied as you are as making the premise solid would be a good play on my part and then I'll let you work out the details to how time would progress from Ramesses III to FDR in between we have Marco Polo, Genghis Khan, Charlemagne, Napoleon and other individuals.

I don’t think that it would collapse. Scenario two the more interesting one anyways. There’s how young Alexander remember he was 32 when he died. So he’s 37 when he finishes the conquests. It’s not unrealistic to think that he could live for another 30 or 40 years. At that point, there’s been 2 generations that have grown up in the system with a third well on the way. it would’ve become the norm. Yeah, I don’t think it’s gonna fall apart.
They probably also want to completely encircle the Mediterranean. You probably also see China become rival to the east.

I think the worst case scenario is definitely the most realistic. The empire seems completely over stretched.

@@Videntis.HistoryI thought Alexander would have pushed most of the Greek population out of Greece and Anatolia and force them to live in the conquered lands and intermarry with them I wasn’t expecting this scenario where he moved everyone. I think the second scenario would happen Alexander wouldn’t be hated I think he would still be loved and people would look up to him but the empire would lose some territory.

What about the great library of Alexandria? That huge collection of knowledge could have produced science and technology far better and a lot faster than in our timeline, since it would have been part of the unified empire for centuries. Maybe some tech from there could have helped the empire to thrive, by solving some of its problems.
Also, being adjacent to China and having incorporated India would have certainly brought forth in a few years knowledge and technology that took centuries to travel to europe, such as iron melting, crucible steel production, the decimal number system and algebra, crossbows, gunpowder, silk, ceramics, and so on.
When the huns would have stroken, the Macedonian empire would have been far more technologically advanced than the Roman one was at that point, especially on a military standpoint.

As of religious rebellions I think jews would be a pain in the ass since they did have many rebellions against both the seleucids and Roman's the maccabean revolt for example but other religions would be easy to govern since polytheistic religions tend to be more adaptive to new gods.
If the empire wanted to move its capital I think the Eastern most point it can get is Babylon but in my humble opinion I don't think it would be moved that much to the east maybe it would be a new city in the Eastern Mediterranean like Alexandria which in our time line grew to be the new center of Greek culture and even Egypt was the last major stronghold of Greek culture before being conquered by Rome.
And as huge lover of everything Greek it's a fact that everything will come to an end but I don't know how this empire would end maybe the non Greek parts will gradually get independent leaving out a national Greek state which what I think the Eastern Roman empire would've become if it survived which was becoming more and more Greek OR the whole empire would collapse with multiple Greek states OR the empire can get divided just like Rome did with Greek ruling class just like what happened to the Macedonian empire in our time line.
I just also wanna point out to a minor mistake where you showed the Eastern Aegean coast (the Anatolian side) to be hellenized which is not the case this area was colonized the earliest by Greeks before any other region so I would count as hellenic not hellenized.
And as always that was a great video. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work 🎉

2:10 - Interesting to note that you're describing the Maccabean Revolt. A civil war between Hellenic Hebrews, on the costal cities, and Traditionalists, in the hilly land in the east with no navigable rivers, that spiralled into Antiochus invading and losing.
4:30 - Interesting point. Persia used Greeks coins for trade in the west but kept a barter and commodity tax system in the east. After Alexanders conquests and minting of coins in the area the "silk road" increased in volume of trade as it was now connected via exchangable currencies.
6:45 - Yay, Indo-European! This always made me think that integration of the northern half of the empire would be easier, from a linguistic standpoint.
7:55 - I find the lack of Nubian wife disturbing.
13:30 - Vercingetorix was the King of the Belgae, the nation furthest from the Med, and only became leader of the whole Gauls during Ceaser's invasion. Before that Gaul was ruled by 3 states; 2 of which were republics. One of the reasons Ceasers gives for wiping them out was the danger posed by their advancement. Also, I feel like they would have pushed to the Carpathian's for the minerals and defense; then fight the Celts because you KNOW they are raiding the border regions! This kinda makes me think that the centre of the European area of the empire will be around the Danube/Pannonia; albeit, over a process of several centuries.
Also Alexander's chief engineer apparently called, and drew up plans, for sculpting a giant statue of Alexander out of Mount Athos after his death. Never got funded.

This is genuinely a significant second part, Mr. Nostradamus. I mean it, for every detail is explained, and imagery on what could have happened with animation mixed with scenes from Bannerlord games is a superb way you're improving and fits well with the story. I prefer the second scenario, where the migration in the Macedon Empire gave the people more options to go and find a new life in many cities. This empire is acting more like the United States of America but in the ancient world, which I love, and both Alexander the Great and Alexander IV are now considered Emperors is a terrific way of showing they have become a tremendous imperial dynasty that might make the Roman emperors jealous for their accomplishment. This Macdeon Empire was more stable and used its resources to develop domestic projects to improve the citizens who lived in the empire and had enemies to fight because those lands did not have any valuable resources. Those locals on those lands were not a problem to the Macdeon Empire, and is there no need for the local tribes to unify against them; what you said is accurate, and the possibility those tribes, along with their families, would probably move there and start a new life to bring good fortune and the start of with trade to following neighboring tribes onto different nations.
And I would love to see a part three to this video, for this series is an absolute masterpiece and is way better than other alternate historian channels ( except for Monusier Z, Possible History, and Josh Sullivan, they are my favorite alternate historian TH-camrs) who should take notes on how to do it but not in a criticizing harsh way but an encouraging way to make their audiences feel more entertained and should try to listen their audiences of new ideas they never heard of before. I'll repeat this, this is incredible and does this channel. No matter what anybody says, always be passionate about what you do best. Always stand tall with pride and accept who you are, for where that makes you unique!

My suggestion will be either Alexandria or Alexandretta that replaced Antioch as the new capital. By the way, you did not mention one thing. It's about Christianity. How will the Macedonian Empire react to the rise of Christianity? How will the current Macedonian King react to the peoples on the streets are saying that he is not divine but a mere mortal like the rest of them? Heck, will he even invited Jesus to have a conversation with him in the capital? How will it turned out? And which part of the Empire is the most likely place where Christianity will grow very popular? But most importantly, will Christianity becomes one of the factors to cause the Empire's downfall like how it became one of the factors that brought Rome's downfall? After all, the more and more the peoples kept hearing about spiritual rewards in the afterlife, the less and less they cared about an earthly empire. Not to mention that many women ended up taking the vows to preserve the virginities and chastities for religious reasons as well, thus causing the massive decline in the population with the birth rate thet kept getting lower and lower.
Also, when will you do a video about the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania?

    • @Videntis.History
      @Videntis.History  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thats a lot of questions so here is what happened. Alexandretta would become the empires capital in around 50BC. As time rolled on, Macedonian Hegemons would be viewed more as mortals than gods because the greeks would have not deified them, and the culture was hellenic. The more barbarian cultures would have seen them as gods at first, but as they became more greek, that practice would fade out. I have no idea if Jesus would be born, but if he was, Christianity would spread more to the east than the west. I have to disagree with your statement that Christianity was a factor in the fall of the Roman Empire. Your argument shows a lot of misconceptions about the era. The were a variety of factors for the fall of the empire that I went over in my video on the Roman Empire and I do not think religion was a major part. After all, if not for Constantine the Great, the first Christian emperor, Rome would have fallen much faster and the Byzantines may have never survived into the 1400s. The idea that vows of chastities caused a massive population decline is completely false. I have never seen any historical evidence or verifiable numbers to back that up, but if you have proof, I am willing to change my mind. I do not know how Christianity would have mixed with the hellenic empire, but I think it would have become very prominent by the 5th century if it ever existed. I am planning on making a video on the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth in the next month or so, but it depends on a few factors. I am glad you thought out your comment, and I hope my response makes sense :)

@@Videntis.History According to the TH-camr known as Maiorianus, he named his channel after the last man capable of saving the Roman Empire, he stated that Christianity is not one of the major factors. Yes, this one is true. But he also stated that the Roman government never attempted to prevent women from taking up vows of chastity before. After all, it was a common way of escaping the arranged marriages. And the last lime I checked, no women like arranged marriages unless they are in it for money. He also stated that, alongside with reasons such as the debasing of the currency, the civilians are not allowed to bear arms and the troops raised from the Germanic tribes only remained loyal so far as long as the Roman Empire paid them handsomely, the citizens of the Empire also have no interested in fighting for an earthly empire anymore because of the spiritual rewards in the afterlife that awaited them. So yes, Christainity did not destroy the Roman Empire. But it's more of the Roman citizens used it as an excuse to not make themselves looked bad because saying "I don't wanted to fight for the Empire because I did not get paid enough" sound really selfish and bad. This has some of my own opinions that I interpreted on my own after watching the videos from Maiorianus' channel, of course.
You can go check out his channel and watch some his videos. And you will be surprised with the ones such as "Why the late Romans wanted their Empire to fall" or "How the hero emperor Majorian almost restored the Western Roman Empire" for sure.

Honestly it seems far more likely this sprawling mess ends up divided into 3 large empires roughly united, by everybody being Alexanders children, and the realization this empire is too big to govern as one unit without better transportation and messaging speed. Basically roughly India/Pakistan, Egypt/Middle East, and a Mediterranean/Europe.

Greek alphabet would have been the norm, instead of Latin, and Christianity which was written in Greek, would have a larger reach of influence. Instead of Romance languages, we'd have thousands of Greek-derivated language all over the world as the primary language, just like we have the many Romance languages that showed up after Rome's fall.
