I think that after Baldwin I, Coptics would desire their own state, look what happened in Byzantine-Sasanian war ( the last one ), where Coptics revolted against Rome when they heard of approaching Persians. Overall nice video. Crusades are wrongly demonised by novadays historians in my opinion, I mean no one was 100% good or 100% bad but still. Liked the video. I have a cool suggestion: What if Theodoric the Great succeded in his plans of restoring the Western Roman Empire or what if Amalasuntha was never usurped by Theodahad? I really liked your Vandal video and more about this time period on these ""barbarian"" kingdoms would be appreciated. Goths, Suebi etc. And if you want a break from alt-history, I propose potential Polish-Vandal link video ( it seems unlikely at the beginning and I was thinking that too, but as I gathered more and more evidence, I got conviced. ). Keep up good work! 👍
@@Videntis.History So basically Theodoric the Great secures throne for his dynasty in Visigothic Spain ( he was only a regent irl ), asuring his family to survive there, by promises of reconquering recently lost by Alaric II - Aquitaine ( which is realistic as Franks always were broken up amongst different Duchies such as Austrasia & Neustria as soon as one King dies ), having his daughter Amalasuntha inherit both Italy & Hispania, and considering that Amalasuntha was on good terms with Justinian ( as she even agreed on raising her son, Athalaric, in Roman virtues, yet he died as teenager due to alcoholism ), Romano-Gothic/Western Gothic Empire might not have fallen that early. Years pass by and as Eastern Rome looses territories to Arabs ( with Africa which Belisarius still very likely would have conquered in 500s ), Tariq could not conquer Hispania due to manpower & resources that this Romano-Gothic Empire would have as well as loyality of the people ( as Theodoric the Great, Amalasuntha & possibly their succesors would be loved by Roman citizens ), resulting in Muslim expansion to be halted likely at decisive battle ( let's say in Carthago Nova or Portus Magnus ). Then Gothic people over time would likely convert to Chalcedonian/Nicaean Christianity, abondoning Arian faith ( which did occur in Visigothic Spain by 500s AD ), giving more legitimacy to Amal/Amaling dynasty. I pressume that this Empire would have survived till Normans would arrive, having ravaged Italy and conquered it while rump state in Hispania would continue. As centuries would have passed, perhaps around 1500s Amalings would have lost Spanish crown and be replaced by a Norman or French royal family. Thank You for considering my scenerio(s), I love Your videos!!
What distortion are you talking about about a group of deviant killers in a war against Muslims who killed innocent people and destroyed and raped him under a lie in the name of religion? Despite this, the Muslims were victorious in the end and liberated Jerusalem. The campaigns against Egypt and North Africa failed, and the Ottomans confronted them in Anatolia and the Balkans. The situation turned into an Ottoman invasion that terrified Europe for centuries.
@@Altier77 It is your point of view ig. History is written by victorious ones. Now Europe is secularised, with many Muslims and Secularists. That's why Crusades are demonized. And I agree the first EVER crusade called "people's crusade" was just a peasant mob which slaughtered, killed, r*ped etc. etc., tho when led by actual monarchs & knights, crusades weren't harmfull for locals ( with a few exceptions like 4th crusade ). I repeat it, neither side is "Holy" and I agree at SOME points with you, tho not in all. Both sides commited crimes, no one talks about how Seljuks massacred pilgrims or did not allow them to be at all, yet everyone talks about how "crusades were bad and wrong". There are both extremists & moderates on all sides always.

Really well done video Videntis! You've done a great job of showing the cultural, religious, and political consequences of this alternative scenario. I'd love to see a video about what would have happened if the Kingdom of Naples had become a colonial empire. How would it influence the history of Europe and the world? How would the Neapolitan culture have merged with those of other populations? How would it deal with the challenges and opportunities of colonialism? What do you think?
@@Videntis.History The video showed us how the Normans conquered parts of North Africa and the Middle East. It would be interesting to see how Naples, under the rule of Aragon or the Bourbons, could have expanded its colonial influence.
yeah i have a 21 part 8ish hour series on charlemagne thats the most in depth on youtube, im still trying to figure some tech things out though and how to release it, but should be out sporadically over the next few months
Could it be possible that a 2nd part is made? And also, could it be a possibility that with this timeline, the roman empire has a chance to be reformed, mainly since the Roman Empire of Jerusalem exists
Do you think that it would be realistic for Jerusalem to ever conquer Baghdad, even if only for a short time? After all, the city was relatively close to the crusader states in Northern Iraq, and the city would be very enticing for the Christians given its immense wealth and the blow that would be dealt to the Muslims with its capture. Also, do you know or like Jabzy?
If they succeded I think we are basically looking at a completely Christian mediterranean sea, the devide between the western world and the eastern would be from Anatolia and the Levant to the East, ofc that's not even mentioning how northern Africa would end up being christianized as well. Truly fascinating...
“For the grace, for the might of our lord In the name of his glory For the faith, for the way of the sword Come and tell their story Gave their lives so boldly Come and tell the Swiss Guards' story again”
Polish duchies would unite much sooner, as it was an ambition of the prince Henryk Pobożny, who didn't manage to do this as he was killed in the Battle of Legnica, 1241. So a more centralized and western Kingdom of Poland would emerge, probably seeking more expansion into the western than the eastern direction. It could become a stable major player, as the nobles would not get so much influence on the country.
I feel like for the best scenario for the Crusaders, they would have to work with the Roman Empire, and also not betray them, raid them on the way there, and none of the demands Alexios made of the crusaders were ludicrous, or outlandish. I know it's a an absolute perfect scenario for Catholic Crusaders specifically going beyond the Crusades specifically. I also HIGHLY doubt any crusader would be willing to call themselves the Roman Empire with the real Roman Empire being so close, the H.R.E existing still, and of course the fact several locations were expecting to become part of the Roman Empire again. That being said, I expect the H.R.E might do what they did to Russia in our timeline and decree them the Third Rome. In our timeline the Mongolians made a marriage alliance with the Romans, so I imagine that they would likely do the same here, perhaps combining with them in order to move down into the levant so Rome could relcaim their territory.
the byzantines were the ones who backed out of their deal with the crusaders, not the other way around, so it would ridiculous to expect them to pay tribute when you failed to support them during battles
Great video. I think that overtime the cultural differences would cause Jerusalem to split into a Sicilian, Egyptian and Jerusalem Levantine kingdoms. With the Sicilian kingdom remaining one the wealthiest places in Europe it could easily unite Italy much earlier and Egypt and the levant would be fully integrated wealthy parts of the Christian world since the mamluks would never razed and depopulate that region. Islam would be relegated to Persia and northern India. Also with the Mediterranean as a united economic entity southern Europe and North Africa would be as , if not more, wealthy than Northern Europe
I feel like Frankish knights would have absolutely decimated the mongols wherever they could actually catch them, similar to how the crusaders had huge advantages against the more lightly armored Muslims
The optimal timeline: All the Crusades were succesful and all the new crusader states were stable and happy and everyone got along and and there is no dispute over the holy land whatsoever in the current day
This video was very thought-provoking and creative. I enjoyed watching how the history of the world would be different if the Crusades had achieved all their goals. It was fascinating to see how the Crusader states would have expanded and influenced the politics, culture, and religion of the Middle East and Europe. It was also intriguing to imagine how the relations between Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other groups would have changed. I wonder how the Crusades would have affected the development of science, technology, trade, and art. How would the world look like today if the Crusades had gone perfectly?
First thing first: Videntis, thank you very much for liking my previous comment,I Felt honored.😁 To answer to your question: Yes the Crusaders behind the Holy true Cross will absolutly crush the mongols, and impress them so much that revolt will start sparkling inside their Empire, and Mass conversion to Catholicism or Orthodoxy will happen among Mongol people and Troops with some Khans leading this movement. As a Result Kievan Rus never falled and start beating the Khanats and other hostile tribes one by one and quickly began to expend North and allways further toward east (taking the role inherited in our reality by moscovia). In the meantime, the kingdom of Jerusalem,Crusader States,Byzentium will team with Nubian Kingdoms and the Ethiopian Empire to launch an Invasion of the Arabian Peninsula. All the Orders of Warriors Monks will play a great Role in this offensive. Ethiopians wanting Even to reintegrate the area of the modern day yemen. Persia will be quickly subjugated by the Byzentium as Well As the Bagdad Emirate by the retentless assault of the Assyrian State in Alliance with the Crusader. Meanwhile with the Earlier Renaissance,European Powers will be push in a discovery frenzy, and the first Navels will land on the shores of America,The HRE wilk definitly take his part of it.
It's a bit off wrt to England and France. Richard's son would be a William or Henry. His nephew Arthur would remain Duke of Brittany. And John's family would be Dukes of Normandy. France would have to exploit any divisions. I'm guessing that Ireland gets a royal title sooner under a King of England & Navarre who's still Duke of Aquitaine too.
YT doesn't like my longer replies any more than comments mentioning websites 🙄. I have a whole outline of how this Ricardian line England Navarre could proceed
I have a question for this scenario, why would the crusaders restore and not destroy the ancient Egyptian wonders and structures. Also of the crusaders restored the ancient Egyptian wonders, why wouldn’t they restore the Roman structures like the northern African aqueducts
europeans had been maintaining ancient structures for a while, especially christian ones and those important to europe, so structures built by alexander would be important to them imo
I gotta disagree with one thing that being that Baldwin I was arguably the best crusader or leader of Crusader states, that/those titles in my opinion fall on Baldvin IV he was the best there ever was
@@Videntis.History I think, if the Austrians had reformed before any escalations, and if Karl the first had taken power during the war. Maybe it would be like what Italians did during WW2 and turned on the Germans? Also the possibility of a sort of US-style Austrian federalism would be neat! I did not put too much thorough research into any of this and since Austria was unstable from the beginning i think I would need to think on this more. It would definitely be quite unrealistic but I do think it would be fun.
The first crusade was indeed nothing short of a miracle. The geopolitical conditions, timing, and sheer luck was just right for the crusaders for them to conquer the Levantine coast.
I think that this battle would be super close, between 180000 mongols and 140000 crusaders. As the crusaders have morale, and heavy numbers and Christ, but the mongols are light cavlary, like the Parthian’s who defeated a powerful Roman army which was heavily armored at Carrne. But I would want the Christians to win.
Historically, Batu should have led his army to Budapest, but in this world line, Bella IV was still the emperor of Eastern Rome, so after Béla IV's defeat in Budapest, the Mongols might invade the Balkans, but they could not conquer Constantinople, but they would plunder the Balkan countryside, and after this westward expedition, Poland and Rus' were the same as in history, and Rome may have made Béla IV's throne unstable under the destruction of the Mongols, and Palaiologo, Rome's proper, and Michael VIII may unite with the Mongols to rebel against the Hungarians

I love the looks of the intro and just the graphics, even if you are not having the best performance right now, this is really promising and your work is just so great you will succeed ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Also can you please do a what if Hannibal Won Second Punic War and Napoleon The Third was successful.😢

I’ve always loved the crusades since I was 6, and all these years later and someone finally explores this alt his (great job)

Suggestion for another Roman scenario: What if Commodus never came to power? Two ways this can go: What if Faustina the Younger married Emperor Lucius Verus instead as Hadrian had intended, or what if Marcus Aurelius adopted a successor instead of Commodus?
interesting
the effects and sound are very vivid
one of the best videos ever seen on TH-cam, please do a second part

@@Videntis.History Hey buddy, can I help bridge the dividing Alt History community you've spoken about?
You know what I was sad that the Carolingian crusade was out voted at first but this is a pretty fun take on "what if the crusades succeeded" so it's wasn't a great loss
i'm dying to see a second part man
Really well done video Videntis! What do you think?
naples under which dynasty? normans? hohenstaufen? aragonese? bourbons?
Normans founders of Sicilian Kingdom
@@Videntis.History The video showed us how the Normans conquered parts of North Africa and the Middle East. It would be interesting to see how Naples, under the rule of Aragon or the Bourbons, could have expanded its colonial influence.

Could it be possible that a 2nd part is made? And also, could it be a possibility that with this timeline, the roman empire has a chance to be reformed, mainly since the Roman Empire of Jerusalem exists
Yeah Roma Invicta

This video is weapons grade copium. And I absolutely love it.
Edit: I can't believe he murdered freddy...
It’s a canon event that he drowns in a River
Barbarossa always drowns in a river somewhere. It's an AH trope!
Why let anything get in the way of a good crusade?
Truly fascinating...
yeah thats what i thought as well

Hello, there are 3 thousand likes on the video with the Macedonian empire, you promised a sequel
Wait why
Also with the Mediterranean as a united economic entity southern Europe and North Africa would be as , if not more, wealthy than Northern Europe
maybe, or the empire could stick together and push further east
I feel like Frankish knights would have absolutely decimated the mongols wherever they could actually catch them, similar to how the crusaders had huge advantages against the more lightly armored Muslims
Here is the Opposite of this video. What if Mehmed the Conquerer Conquered Italy? BTW I like your Mapping style.

This is a much better world in every way than the one we live in now.
First thing first:
Videntis, thank you very much for liking my previous comment,I Felt honored.😁
To answer to your question:
Yes the Crusaders behind the Holy true Cross will absolutly crush the mongols, and impress them so much that revolt will start sparkling inside their Empire, and Mass conversion to Catholicism or Orthodoxy will happen among Mongol people and Troops with some Khans leading this movement.
Meanwhile with the Earlier Renaissance,European Powers will be push in a discovery frenzy, and the first Navels will land on the shores of America,The HRE wilk definitly take his part of it.
maybe, but i could see the byzantines and crusaders becoming enemies
What if the Roman empire survived in the Italian peninsula? (like they defeated Odoacer or something)

Yeah god point, there’s a more detailed version that I couldn’t use because of TH-cam but good to know

The crusaders probably wouldn't win. The Mongols were at the height of their military competence.
Great vid.

I gotta disagree with one thing that being that Baldwin I was arguably the best crusader or leader of Crusader states, that/those titles in my opinion fall on Baldvin IV he was the best there ever was

You should do what if Austria held together after world war one!!
how would that happen?
@@Videntis.History I think, if the Austrians had reformed before any escalations, and if Karl the first had taken power during the war. Maybe it would be like what Italians did during WW2 and turned on the Germans? Also the possibility of a sort of US-style Austrian federalism would be neat! I did not put too much thorough research into any of this and since Austria was unstable from the beginning i think I would need to think on this more. It would definitely be quite unrealistic but I do think it would be fun.
This scenario looks great. Have you considered writing an alternate history novel?
no too much work
The first crusade was indeed nothing short of a miracle.
But I would want the Christians to win.
yeah not sure who would win
The second siege of Vienna was the last crusade.
