Look at them! Being so cute, looking at each others eyes, and holding hands, and getting so close to each other, and that little peck Patrick gave her in the end!! Soo cute, and really fits the song! Love it
I agree with some of the comments that Patrick and Emmy sang it very well together. But when Gerald sang it to her on the bridge towards the end.....there was no comparison to him. He owned that part beyond anyone. I just wish she didn't have to pull his mask off.
They are both stunning people with incredible voices! I loved them in the film and live! And aww when they kissed in the end, omg! They had a great chemistry! 😍
Awwww she was so nervous in the beginning but after they hold hands she calms a bit and beams a genuine smile. And then her voice has more breath support 💖
Gerard Butler does have an excellent voice--it's more on the haunting side than powerful. And Gerard is not the only young guy to ever play the Phantom (eh-hem Ramin.)
@@michaelcastanaga5839 In all honesty, though Ramin has a clearer voice and probably a better range (Gerard can go falsetto, and so can Ramin), Gerard's persona and presence, plus older-sounding voice and acting, have me personally favoring him. Of course, Michael Crawford is my all time favorite.
I LOVE Sarah Brightman and I heard Emmy Rossum before I got the chance to hear Sierra Boggess, who did an remarkably stunning job as Christine but I have to admit that IMO Emmy Owned this song.
Gerard Butler was simply amazing and powerful as the phantom and no one could have performed in that intense, dark and sexy way better! And Patrick was also amazing as Emmy! The whole movie is a masterpiece and an extraordinary tribute to Andrew Lloyd Weber's masterpiece!
It is so discouraging to read that someone here thinks ALW " looks creepy "; the man was born as he is, can't we just accept that ?? --As for Gerard Butler, remember it was ALW & Joel Schumacher who wanted Phantom to be tall, dark, sexy, & masculine, younger than the men who had been playing the role on B.'Way. And, IMHO, he was perfect, with that Scot's accent coming through . Emmy is so gorgeous, Patrick was perfect as Raoul, & the film is a masterpiece. Wolfsky9
This just melts my heart-------one of THE most beautiful duets of all-time, & Emmy & Patrick are perfect. -------------Emmy, you were gorgeous. -----------------------Wolfsky9
the new phantom series is designed to pull in younger audiences by making the phantom into a young upstart cool guy but this is a 180 from the original vision which was so effective where the phantom is a cool calculating experienced and controlling fatherly figure.
Hey everyone! Andrew Lloyd Webber (the writer) chose the cast, so these people are exactly what he wanted. I thought the casting was great! Gerard is not the best singer in the world, but he has such passion and feeling in his voice. He brought me to tears often throughout the movie. Plus, he is easy on the eyes. Emmy Rossum has a great voice! I wish I could sing like she does.
Great! Now I have two songs that touch me so much I get choked up when they're performed. This one (wow Emmy!) and Susan Tilson as Eponine singing On My Own from Les Mis (lucky to have seen this one live in Chicago during the 90's).
I am so in shock. I saw The Conjuring not long ago, and I have seen a lot of Patrick Wilson recently. And today, randomly, I decided to revisit some Phantom film clips. But I just now realized after watching that the two actors are the same man... I never realized that Patrick played Raoul, or that he could sing like this... Oh, what a voice!
Um, Gerard DOES have an excellent voice, so please stop hating on him simply because of a lack of previous "professional" experience with using said voice...you guys are really starting to get on my nerves!
The 3 main character's from the Phantom of the Opera are who made me fall in love w/the movie. I wish that they would have played in the 2nd movie/play.
I think that Sir Lloyd Weber has the last rights to all the Great Airs of the Twentieth Century truly a prolific composer!!! All of his melodies are intoxicating and brilliant.
I think Patrick took her hand cause she was shaking, poor thing. :D And she was only 16-to be only 16, and hit the high notes of a much older professional (i.e. Sarah Brightman) is something extraordinary, indeed.
actually loveformakeup13, she was 17 when they filmed the movie and only 16 when she got the part....just to be specific. but yes that is pretty amazing
@rogerzilla thats why during the show, they have the top E prerecorded, since most singers can't handle that night after night. this is also why the stage version has an alternate christine to perform 2 of the 8 shows a week...
You thought it was odd that Gerard Butler played the Phantom since the character required an older man with an excellent voice? Well, then, he fit's the description! Gerard IS an older man with an AMAZING voice. You don't know what you're saying.
What's crazy about Gerard singing all his parts is that he's not a trained singer. Phantom was the first film he did when he sang his parts, but being from Scotland he has this natural kind of rock tone in his voice as he sings that he used very well in the film
Please don't try to change my opinion. He wasn't the best, but I loved him as the Phantom singing and all. If you're comparing him to the guys who play that role on stage, don't. It's not fair to group him with professional singers. Also, stage and film are two different mediums. Even you're a professional singer, you're going to have people you like and don't like. The Phantom was not a professionally trained singer in the book. He taught himself. Good and bad singing is relative and therefore everyone has their own idea of good and bad singing.
The duet is great.....but I know I ain't the only guy here who notices that Emmy Rossum has a SMOKIN' HOT BODY....she's got the whole package. Sings, beautiful, and got a SMOKIN' HOT BODY....! DAMN....!
It matters not what you study, either way you'll still have your favorites and those who you just don't like. Even if you're a "professional" you still listen with a biased ear, and that, in the end, will never change.
Gerard Butler may not be a "professional" singer but he has such an amazing voice and has much talent as an actor. He has so much passion and raw emotion when he sings that he evokes it within the audience. So yeah, he may not be a "professional" or an "Opera" singer but he sure did one back of a job which is why they casted him and why the movie was so good. And even though he had doubts about pulling it off he did.
@@itburns5756 I never said or implied anything about Patrick Wilson. I simply said that I think Gerard Butler has an amazing voice. Many people have an issue with the fact isn't a professional singer, but one does not have to be a professional singer to have a good voice.
Am i the only one who expacted (sexy) Gerard Butler to jump out at the end and yell "YOU WILL CURSE THE DAY YOU DID NOT DO, ALL THAT THE PHANTOM ASKED OF YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It was because she performed opera professionally ever since she was a child. You should see her in her debut film. Her acting and singing is just too much for words. :)
I'm so fucking shook that this is Fiona from Shameless. I grew up watching the phantom and just started watching shameless and didn't even recognize her !
Same my aunt pointed it out me cuz I started binge watching it and then she did and I still couldn’t believe it at first she was 16 in phantom of the opera tho so she was young but still
I felt my heart melt when Patrick Wilson started to sing....oh oh
Eternelspotlessmind ugh me too i love him so much 💕
I'm a girl btw I just use a fake name 😄
Look at them! Being so cute, looking at each others eyes, and holding hands, and getting so close to each other, and that little peck Patrick gave her in the end!! Soo cute, and really fits the song! Love it
I am so impressed with Patrick Wilson's clear, pitch-perfect voice.
Emmy Possum has such voice like an angel and it gives me goosebumps. I liked her ever since 2004 her talent is amazing😉.
I agree with some of the comments that Patrick and Emmy sang it very well together. But when Gerald sang it to her on the bridge towards the end.....there was no comparison to him. He owned that part beyond anyone. I just wish she didn't have to pull his mask off.
Gerard sang it in a way that was more like he was talking to someone he loved, with such care and tenderness.
right! AND HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE VOCAL TRAINING
AND HE'S DEAF IN ONE EAR! O_o
Anna Baker really wow he's good
Soul0Stealer no way, Patrick sang it way better than Gerard. Gerard ruined that song.
Love Emmy and Patrick. They are both so talented and well rounded in their talents.
They are both stunning people with incredible voices! I loved them in the film and live! And aww when they kissed in the end, omg! They had a great chemistry! 😍

Emmy & Patrick make this one of the most romantic duets, ever. I mean, EVER. OMG, Emmy you were so gorgeous ! Wolfsky9
Does nobody know that Patrick Wilson started off as a broadway singer?
Juliette Veronica I knew he won a Tony award for Oklahoma and the full Monty
Juliette Veronica no clue
OMG andrew lloyd webber is playing the piano behind them and i just realized
emmy is such a beautiful singer, i- i'm just absolutely amazed.
I love how Patrick takes her hand ... so sweet!
Gerard Butler does have an excellent voice--it's more on the haunting side than powerful. And Gerard is not the only young guy to ever play the Phantom (eh-hem Ramin.)
Yeah but there is a difference, Ramin is awful
i respect your opinion, but Ramin is a better Phantom than Gerard
