@@christinedaae7323 He's like the Beast (his personality + the scars/always hidding smt) and Raol is like the prince hahahah But if I had to decide... well is there any doubt about the real choice? 🤭🌹👻
Raoul is the equivalent of Gaston, in my opinion! But, The Phantom is the equivalent to The Beast/Prince Adam! I love The Phantom so much! Let’s Keep Phantom on Broadway!
In the book Christine wears a plain gold ring a gift from Erik. Raoul is extremely jealous and says to Christine that a ring is a promise. Christine never takes that ring off until she puts it on Erik's finger when he dies and she buries him . Only after that does she marry Raoul.
In the book I thought that as soon as the phantom released her and Raoul it said they ran to find a priest to elope, then when Erik died she went to put it on his finger
In the end of the story as a whole at least Christine still devotes her heart to Erik, despite her love for Raoul. I adore the Phantom and Christine together.
The character of Christine in the book is inexperienced in love, a young girl. Raoul is described as a childhood sweetheart, a first crush. Then Christine meets Erik a batshit crazy passionate real man. Raoul is described as a pampered impulsive youth. What's a girl to do . This just gets Christine confused. The reason Erik confines her for a fortnight is she tries to kill herself and Erik is terrified of losing her.
The reason she tried to kill herself is because she didn’t want to be with him, she felt bad for him and said “poor Erik” and in the book it said her mind belonged to him and her heart solely to Raoul. Raoul is kind of a wimp in the book but the phantom threatens the whole opera house with everyone inside if she doesn’t marry him.
Everything that patrick said is exactly what i was thinking about emmy aka christine. She was so intimate, so good at giving affection to both of them that you couldn't tell who she really loves more. In real life, christine cld never b with phantom even if she loves him so its good that raoul was there. Phantom lets her go so she can have a better life. His obsession became true love through his music bcoz of christine's light and her kiss healed his psyche and rauol's love gave her freedom, and christine's voice inspired raoul. Everyone was a winner! About patrick, looks like he had a crush on emmy.
My two great friends said that the phantom was a psycho and I was thinking Well Raoul isn't as good at swordfighting unlike the phantom who can actually make fire come from nowhere, compose music, be mysterious, undeniably HOT, awesome sworfighter, and so passionate all at the same time. No offense to the Raoul lovers out there
Actually, Raoul as a nobleman was highly more skilled than the Phantom as he had to be trained from a very young age, while the Phantom was more of an acrobat since he grew up in a circus with the gypsies. Also, the Phantom was the one who manipulated Christine since she was a child making her believe he was his dead father; he stalked her and terrorized her, he was obsessed with her. Besides, he was born deformed. Would you call that hot? It seems like you would...
Raoul is jealous of Eric, Phantom and Christine is True love based on soul with passion(which is doomed to suffer in this world), Raoul and Christine is mundane relationship based on established culture eg. a 'good' marriage to build a well off family.
I love the book so much that I wish they could re-make it again closer to the book. I would to see Gerard Butler as the phantom and Ramin Karimloo as the Persian. I am sure Andrew Lloyd Webber could write some songs for the character of the Persian to sing. That is the trouble of comparing movies or musicals to the book. I can see how Andrew Lloyd Webber fell in love with the book when he read it. It has that effect on you.
ALL of the leads in this production were awesome!! And Patrick Wilson? What a magnificent voice!! One of the best singers in the cast, for sure - and a very brave, very appealing Raoul!! He'd make a great Phantom on stage, for sure!
In the book Christine wears a plain gold band on her finger that Erik gave her and that makes Raoul extremely jealous. Christine constantly tells Raoul that she would leave with him but will never marry him. Christine only marries Raoul after Erik dies. And yes later she has a son and Ian's it is Erik's son.
Having complications and needs a c-section and Raoul is afraid the baby is premature and won't survive. The baby is full term and Raoul figures out I've is not the father. The baby is born perfect and looks like Eric. Raoul accepts the child as his own and never let's Christine know that he knows he is not Gustave's father. Now that is a love story. Don't get me wrong, I love Love Never Dies its a great musical. I just love that way the book ends better. The plot makes more sense.
The original book is Phantom Of The Opera by Gaston Leroux. Phantom by Susan Kay continues the story and fleshes out the characters but stays as close to the original characters as possible. At least until the last two chapters and then her story goes off the rails.
When Christine and Raoul leave she makes a promise to come back to Erik when he is dying. Raoul agrees to. Christine runs away to be with Erik and Raoul chases after her. The Persian tells him to leave things alone. When Eric dies Christine puts the gold ring on his finger and buries him and then goes back and marries Raioul.
In the book little Meg later marries and becomes a baroness and Eric , who told Christine to go with Raoul makes both promise that when Eric is dying Christime will come to stay with him till after he dies. Both promise but Raoul has no intention of ever keeping the promise. Later Christine runs away to the house on the underground lake to be with Eric. Eric, who had been poisoned numberless times is dying.. Raoul knows where she has gone and figures he will snatch her back.
Of course I am still waiting on a re-make of Nelson Algren's The Man With The Golden Arm with his original intended ending . I think I'll be waiting a long time.
I take it a lot of you have not read the book Phantom Of The Opera. The book ends completely different as for Love Never Dies its a wonderful musical but of you love the book as much as I do the plot makes no sense. Many characters in the book are not even in either the movies or the musical. The Persian for instance.
The Persian tells Raoul no, to leave things alone. Eric dies and Christine follows his instructions and puts the ring on his finger. She then goes back to Raul and they marry. Time passes and she is pregnant but having

He should really play a Disney prince. Or release an album. The best Raoul ever, imho.

The sword fight scene is not in the book. Erik and Raoul's jealousy of each other is.
He totally had a crush on Emmy Rossum, his verbiage in the beginning was obvious! Talked 1st person then mentioned the character as an afterthought 😂
Celisse Willis it’s just so awkward remembering hes 30 and she was 16 during this not saying the phantom was any better being he was 34 😂

The character Raoul fits for Patrick. He is so handsome and adorable. Not to mentioned Patrick Wilson has a good and calming voice.

If the phantom was better than him at sword fighting then how come Raoul almost killed him at Cristine's father's grave?
