One thing i do, which has helped me, is just write down what i want to accomplish every week, and then telling myself that i owe all that work to myself. For example going to the gym 5 times a week. I write which days are push, pull and leg days, and which days i do cardio, because then i will know on the day, that i owe myself that workout. It has helped a lot, because i used to say to myself on the day that i was too tired ro run after that hard workout. Now i just do it without no second thoughts.

I've been putting off a VERY important paper I should've wrote a year and a half ago. Yes, for almost two years, I've been fighting daily against this, so far I've had two deadlines which I didn't meet. I haven't even started writing it, as I'm currently writing this, I have my desk ready, my computer, I've spent the last week understanding the why's, how to overcome it and making it so easy to begin that I won't be able to find another excuse. This video wasn't everything but It sure was part of it. I'm ready to start, wish me luck :)
This vid, came in at the right time I've been feeling this so-called resistance for quite some time now. I'm currently in school and for some reason, I can't seem to find the inspiration or meaning to why I need to do the things I need to do, this has brought my grades down and it just seems harder and harder to just get things done, but listening to this made me interested in reading the war of art. It completely changed the way I look at my objectives now, I used to feel this immense pressure whenever I would think about school work for example, but now I just do it without letting resistance even have a chance to begin nagging at me. Consequently not only have my grades gone up but my self-esteem has too, I don't feel as hopeless anymore.
I... I've needed this video. So many things in my day-to-day life it felt like I had this hill of "I don't wanna" in front of me. I thought my laziness was just because I have low energy.

I think I just can't force myself to "just do it" Because it feels like that "resistance" triggers the anxiety in me and it paralyzes me until there's only like 20mins left to do the thing I'm supposed to do.
Read something recently that said that there's no way to think your way out of anxiety. Your only chance besides just waiting it out is to actually do something, anything. Been trying to do that lately and it's been helpful :)
This really speaks to me in regards to seeking mental therapy, the thought of it is scary, feel the resistance to go almost immediately as the thought passes through my mind. Knowing its something incredibly crucial to my growth and would eliminate a lot of the hurdles in my path to actually achieving more in life, even then I find myself feeling the strong pull back from following through on actually seeking help. Along with my ADHD, having executive dysfunction being one of the biggest issues I face when trying to start some sort of project or advancing on some sort of idea, i find myself constantly feeling stuck in the same place. Rejection sensitive dysphoria or the fear of failing is also one of my biggest hurdles, but i feel is unrelated to the subject in this video. I found this video to be extremely profound and motivational for me to actually push through the bullshit my mind tricks me into believeing and makes me feel more comfortable with facing the resistance head on and following through with aiding my mental health. Thank you man. I love your channel and come back to it from time to time whwn im feeling as though im not tapping into any productive behaviors. I appreciate you a lot man.

hi joey. i just wanted to thank you for this video. i never realized how much i let resistance rule my life. awareness is the first step. now i actually have to do something about it. also, much love to a fellow canadian
Actually right now i dont have any urgent work to do but i do have some homework for the week and this video helped me, now i want to do it all right now instead of procrastinating so its doing quite the opposite of making me procrastinate.
I'm procrastinating because I'm here watching the video. I'm procrastinating watching the video because I'm reading the comments while watching said video. I'm procrastinating watching the video as well as procrastinating with reading the comments because I'm replying to a comment instead. Soon I'll be procrastinating doing even that by staring at a blank wall. Sweet, sweet resistance
I was called out twice, then procrastinated more by reading the reply's to this comment, now I'm procrastinating by replying to this comment, at this point I'm calling my self out abt the fact I'm procrastinating, which in its self is procrastinating, I just fell into a loophole of procrastinating, and I'm still going on for some rsn, I prob. need to stop this, but the thing is not only am I procrastinating via writing all this, you are now procrastinating by reading this long reply, on a comment that you also procrastinated by reading, on a video that you most likely are watching while procrastinating, and the fact that you have read this long into my reply on a comment just shows how much you are procrastinating rn, honestly why are you still reading this, you know your procrastinating something rn, you could be doing that thing instead of reading a reply of someone who is procrastinating by writing this long reply, you know you should be doing it so why aren't you? the real question is why are you still reading this, at this point there's no point in convincing you to stop reading this, well I should prob. stop procrastinating and go do stuff, why are you still reading this, I've been typing for like 10min straight, which just shows maybe I'm the one who should just stop procrastinating, I mean tbh you do you, you've gotten this far so I see you have dedication, but tbh you should go do that thing your procrastinating, there's no way you have read this far and are not procrastinating lol, I'm kind of running out of things to say, well what's funny is most likely no ones gonna read this far so I kind of wasted all this time, oh well, that's kind of the point of procrastination xD, still not sure why I'm still typing, I have to insist you stop reading tho, I mean even if your gonna continue procrastinating there are better ways to do it then continue reading this long reply, well I guess your thinking I've made it this far I might as well continue, or your just curious what I'm gonna say or how am I still continuing to continue coming up with ideas of semi pointless stuff to continue talking abt while procrastinating, at this point I'm genuinely impressed that you have read this far, well all I have left to say at this point is, well, since you've made it this far, have a good time procrastinating I guess, and I'm happy that you spent the time reading my reply
Here is a highlight from the video, it might helps you to start doing, it's not better than watching the video of course :) So let's get started . The more the thing is important to your growth, the more you will procrastinate about it, this called Resistance . To hold you from doing your thing, Resistance push you to give yourself excuses and actually believe them! EX: your about to wake up at 6 Am, Resistance :its okay to sleep another one hour, it's not that bad, you still can finish the subject, you've been hustling for a long time, it's not a big deal go to sleep, It seems logical right? Well it's not! you have to know that whatever LOGICAL Reason you have for not doing that thing is just Resistance. (Also one of the reasons could be Perfectionism ) . Solution Start doing it anyway, When you start by the first step: just get up from bed, just open the book and start reading, Something magically happens, the inspiration will magically be there! So yeah, I hope this will help us with procrastination, good luck to all of you :)
Wow a year has passed so fast.. So I remembered that I wrote a comment about '' how to get out of a rut '' and here I am, using it! I've realized two things from this : 1. Help ppl whenever it's possible, it will come back to you sonner or later. 2. When I read the comment I didn't correct my grammar mistakes, or even worse I was amazed that I wrote it that good (English isn't my first language) and this is ANNOYING, cuz it means that my English isn't getting better, gotta really work on it then, wish me luck :)) I know I'll come back to this one day,, and who knows , maybe I'll learn another lesson,, Thanks for reading my comment, have a good day :)
This was precious... my stomach turned when I realized resistance has been the reason for some *terrible* decisions. Scary how powerful this resistance can get, it's like a monster with it's own intelligence. Unnerving, but great to put a name to it. Edit: gave video title advice but then remembered I'm not a TH-camr.
I love it! You just helped me, I was about to skip "IT" for today, after all I am on my way...but you helped me to sit at my desk and make it happen. When you know what's behind it's much easier to act the proper way... Many thanks for the video and the book!
bro i posted almost this exact video with almost the exact same title just 2-3 weeks ago. this is real!!! resistance is a killer, and it’s stronger than you think it is. thank you for putting this into your own words, another great video!
Rook Rose hey thank you! i seriously can’t appreciate you enough!! it’s so hard to get people to notice your videos, and i appreciate you watching mine
The moment you said "the more important something is for your growth as a human being, the more powerful the resistance will be" I felt it in my bones. I have always struggled with this and sometimes gave into thinking that maybe I'm not suited for the task or maybe I don't love it enough etc. but then again later with the alternative thinking of using it as a compass to guide to down the correct path changed everything. I haven't read the book yet and I'm a year late but thank you so much for this video. I'm sure it'll help many people & will never grow old .
@PixelLightShow I wanna say your comments a joke and I'm being r/woooshed? Wouldn't a critical thinker want to learn more and, well idk, not want to procrastinate?

Agree so so much, everything is so true.. resistance is another word for the enemy, God wants you at ur best and the Enemy doesn’t and is always against u every single day bc he wants to see ur destruction.. some of us don’t have the strength to even start to fight this but some are blessed to be able to and to the ones who can’t like me or who I was then I present u Jesus, he is here to help and get u saved and to bless u bc he loves u, consider it bc he is so good and you will change for the better like I did. I love y’all and keep it up fighting each day for the better part of life!!!

I’m supposed to be writing a paper on irony.
Michael Benson write a sentence. Ill write a sentence for my own paper...the resistance
I blew air out of my nose on this one
Michael Benson
Is there a word for this irony? Double irony maybe?
First hand research is important. What a scholar!
I should research video game addiction and write a paper on it >.>
yeah you could write that it is ironic that the more constructive a activity is, the more resistence is there.
Resistance is two things: fear or lack of motivation caused from exessive dopamine consumption.
That's way too deep. I need to read it a few times. :)
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
"lack of motivation from excessive dopamine consumption."
where did the excessive dopamine consumption come from? where was I consuming dopamine too much and then I got LESS motivated? How does that even work?
@@kevingosselin2277 You get used to dopamine. You need more to be motivated and happy the more you usually get.
This can be caused by anything, lots of social interactions, drugs, internet, games, addictions
TY, makes complete sense to me. Wow🎉👏 Ah-ha!! #HumanRace 🙏
I'm 15 and I already have this sort of trouble. I want to do something, for example, ask a girl out, but something just tells me not to do that and leave that for later, after this I regret my decision and repeat the cycle. It's very paradoxical, but it's true, and this video truly explains this, and I needed for someone to just explain my issue. I know that I'm still a boy, but I'll already start to fight off this bullshit. stay strong guys and thanks for making this video :)
When you said the thing about your perfectionism I actually laughed out loud because I literally left a long-ass comment on your “quick ways to get out of a rut” video about how my perfectionism immobilizes me and I always feel like I struggle with this more than other people/feel very alone in that struggle. Your vulnerability about your own struggles with perfectionism is so SO helpful you have no idea!

Some people buy gaming laptops just because they're extremely powerful, they retain a good resale value and can endure long high CPU sessions without overheating issue. They're great for people doing 3D rendering, mechanical engineering analysis etc. My coworker owns a gaming laptop but never played a single game on it.

Let’s be honest, we’re all procrastinating by watching this video.

“Since resistance is most powerful the more important things are, it becomes a compass” genius
I think I just can't force myself to "just do it"
Because it feels like that "resistance" triggers the anxiety in me and it paralyzes me until there's only like 20mins left to do the thing I'm supposed to do.
now imagine being pessimistic at that very moment since anxiety usually pairs with depression lmao the s u f f e r i n g

Here is a highlight from the video, it might helps you to start doing, it's not better than watching the video of course :)
So let's get started
. The more the thing is important to your growth, the more you will procrastinate about it,
this called Resistance
. To hold you from doing your thing, Resistance push you to give yourself excuses and actually believe them!
EX: your about to wake up at 6 Am, Resistance :its okay to sleep another one hour, it's not that bad, you still can finish the subject, you've been hustling for a long time, it's not a big deal go to sleep,
It seems logical right? Well it's not!
you have to know that whatever LOGICAL Reason you have for not doing that thing is just Resistance.
(Also one of the reasons could be Perfectionism )
. Solution
Start doing it anyway,
When you start by the first step: just get up from bed, just open the book and start reading,
Something magically happens, the inspiration will magically be there!
So yeah, I hope this will help us with procrastination, good luck to all of you :)
Thank you so much
