"Who are you doing this for? To prove the haters wrong? Nobody hates you."
more people need to internalize this
That’s good. I like that.
I do have a couple people I believe hate me. I’d love to prove them wrong.
@@joen8529They don't care about you. They don't think about you when you're not there.

These summaries completely remove the point of these videos. The point of the video is the explanation and the time spent reflecting on each point. When you read a list like this in 10 seconds, you won't internalize any of it. It's literally just consoooming
Someone not as lazy and $$greedy as "Better ideas" - Pity he's too lazy to even 📌 this comment!!! 😆 🤣
"Start before you are ready" really needed to hear that
Right!? Keeps being right every time I hear it. Good luck to you out there! Do it, just do it. Don’t try. Do it. Also, may the force be with you.
100%. Listening like "Ill be home from this work trip on Saturday and I'll get my sht together then. Things are too all over the place right now, but I'll be ready then". Incorrect. Start now.
Same here. 👌🏻
Probably my biggest struggle, that one was like a punch in the face to me lol
So proud of myself for signing up for college spontaneously this year and not waiting until next year, as initially planned. I'm 28. Time's passing anyway, so might as well use it
The best self-improvement advice I ever heard (possibly on this channel) was “today is the youngest you will ever be”. It has been honestly life changing and has been the kick up the backside I needed.

@@K9kfklfl8 don't hide
I"ve found that the "don't tell people" rule also plays out in the realm of creative writing. When you spill the beans on something you're working on because you're excited about it, that can have a negative effect on your motivation because your desired result (telling a story) is already fulfilled.
I just recently broke this rule and regretted it right away. Told a friend about one of my new character ideas and they immediately started chiming in with "suggestions" of changes. Even though I trust it was in good faith, just trying to help, it was still a downer especially since I knew better than to say anything about it this early into the process.
*"Who you are **_becoming_** is more important than who you've been"*
I also found out that telling people about your goals can actually attract jealousy, unfortunately not everyone wishes the best for you
people can feel attacted because they know they should also make a change but dont want to do it
it just shows who your true friends are!
It highlights their own lack of effort. And it shows you who you should spend less time around. Who you socialize with has a huge effect on your own life.
Evil eye is real!

I also find that announcing my intentions creates this vicious cycle of different announcements and a sensitivity to the response of the person, which has the ability to throw me off center. It's good to just shut up and take action. 🚀
I swear by this when it comes to kicking bad habits. Don’t announce it, just stop. Really takes the pressure off.
I’ve noticed that has been happening a lot with girls for me. I’ve been going on a lot of dates recently and I keep telling my friends ALL about them and how it went, but it just ends up in ruins and I always have to explain the downfall and next girl to them and they think I’m a whore now. So ya, don’t tell people ANYTHING

This hit hard. Time to keep my goals quiet and let the work speak for itself! 💪
If you keep quiet, and don't make the progress that you touted, you can still stay motivated . Others are quick to remind you that you're not making your goals
#2 is an incredibly important point. When I want to start doing something, I start researching "what's the most efficient way to do this" or something along those lines. I spend so much time thinking and researching about said thing that I end up not even doing it. It's like Nike's motto Just Do It
If I'm going to repair an appliance I'm definitely going to investigate the shit out of it beforehand. _Don't_ just do it.
@@melkerart1793 that's not the context of what the video or my comment meant. I highly encourage anybody to research how to fix a control panel before they start poking electrical shit with a screwdriver. The context of the video is saying if you're going to learn how to ice skate to just lace up the skates instead of looking into "how to skate". Babies don't "research" how to walk they just do it.
@@melkerart1793 This analogy doesn't make any sense, it has nothing to do with the video. We're not talking about repairing appliances, we're talkig about doing something to better ourselves.
Start immediately - but small. Like running for many people can be bad if they just do it, because they are overweight and lack the muscle, so they injure themselves. Better to start with walking.
I’ve been watching your videos for few years now while I’ve been on and off with my sobriety. Today I celebrate nearly 3 months sober from alcohol, I built a home gym, I’m getting into the best shape of my life, and literally the other day I wrote in my journal right before I went to bed “doing the right thing feels SO much better than doing the wrong thing” and hearing you touch on that exact principle is that affirmation shit I do like. Morgan Freeman narrating my life: "He watched it not having his shit together, and neither would he get his shit together after watching."
🤣
Yeah that's a good belief system (sarcasm)
Or you could yknow, actually try and follow this advice, the results may surprise you!
If people could just get their act together, they would.
Also, lots of videos like this have different advice and the aim is to get views and no help each person who stumbles across it.
Regarding to step 3: "Don't hide", I agree that is inmature. But when you feel so bad about yourself and even feel shame, it is almost innevitable to hide, going ghost mode, deleting social media, Letting the others "forget" about you so you don't feel that shame as much. And eventually coming back not like if you were some kind of perfect being but at least someone who is not ashamed about himself. Coming back like nothing bad have actually happened to you and you have most things figured out. I'm currently going through that, sadly. Knowing that is inmature I'm doing it anyways. The pain is so intense to bear. On the bright side, the last two steps helps a lot. I will definitely work on that.
i agree, but in the other hand, it works according to step 6 "do it your way" : if you feel like this it what you need, because of who you are, or where you currently are in life, then go for it
@@ugocaquais5598 From personal experience I think that advice is helpful. Reframe “immature” to “my way”-takes a judgment from anyone else to only the person’s judgment that matters. Do you want you want to do your way if it’s what you think is best for you.
Deleting social media did wonders for me.
This is too real brother . Too relatable.
I am/was in a similar situation and felt shame for myself cause i realized a lot of what i thought was 'me' and my 'status' were suddenly gone and thought hiding was the way to go because i felt intense shame and pain. Deleting social media is definitely not a bad idea because its a superficial and toxic place, but generally the thought that you feel ashamed of yourself and that therefore you have to hide is extremely unhealthy, cause saying you will come back when you have it figured out is like saying you are only worthy to be in the presence of your peers or society if you are up to a certain standard of worldly achievements, which is the wrong angle cause, as i realized, most people don't give a shit about you anyway and those who do don't care about your achievements cause that doesn't change who you fundamentally are as a person. That doesn't mean you should stop working on yourself etc., but you shouldn't take the negative thoughts of people that actually don't matter to you as your main motivation.
What really helped me letting go of a lot of these thoughts is eckhart tolle and the concept of 'Ego' and how bad it actually is to be too identified with your achievements instead of being content with yourself and going your own way at your own pace. Can only recommend some of his talks here on TH-cam on ego, gratitude and happiness. Wishing you the best, i know how painful this is.
This video popped up just as I was about to procrastinate. Thank you I’m choosing to get shit done!
I've spent all morning procrastinating; it's tired me out, so I need a lie down now for a couple of hours before I can do any more. Maybe I need to think about it for a while longer before making a decision; no use rushing things.
Did you get shit done or ended up procrastinating a bit more?

Life's been hitting with some failures after taking big risks, but to get my shit together I'm starting to think that first I want to do things to feel better about myself REGARDLESS of what reaction or result I can get from it.
I think that's step 1 when shit hits the fan. Thank you
3:38 - that Lisan al Gaib quip caught me off guard 😂
Every time I have a minor success I’m going to exclaim this.
First of all, great video. You talked about some things that I haven't heard anyone talk about before when the topic of changing and getting your shit together is metioned.
Let me bore you for a second, I'm 23, and I have been on the journey to better myself for the last 5 months. I've lost weight, I started taking care of my hair and my skin, started working out and I've never felt better. I still have days of feeling useless, fat, unattractive, days when I lack the motivation for anything. But I found myself getting more and more happy with each day, I stopped hating looking in the mirror, my stress levels have died down, my depression slowed down to the point of me being able to function normally on day to day basis. I feel like a different person all together.
The thing that helped me the most was starting off slow, I was one of the people to jump into the deep water with everything, be it weight loss or exercising. I found myself very burnt out in a week, sometimes even less. In april of this year I decided to make slow adjustments to my lifestyle, minor things like eating less sugar, less calories, trying to exercise everyday while at the same time not blaming myself if I didn't have the time or want to. I've been hearing people saying all these things about "trusting the process" and "keeping it up for a long amount of time" and that always scared me away from starting (my idea of dieting back then for example was to eat basically nothing, or like a max of 500 calories a day). It really isn't as hard as I thought It would be.
When I look back I'm not blaming my younger self for not taking the first steps, my plan is to enjoy this lifestyle and the person I am right now. I am at peace with the person I was before.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
The caffeine addiction section is exactly what I do. I've tried to quit caffeine, but as someone who rarely drinks and doesn't smoke, it's the one vice I like haha. I do the exact same thing you do and have been going to the gym 3-5 times a week the last 7 years. I feel great pretty much every day.
Maybe I'm just paying closer attention today, but WHATEVER!!! I have listened to so many 'motivational' videos on self discipline that I've lost count BUT THIS VIDEO is by FARRR the best! You nailed my personality and I had to smile at being 'found out.' 😂😂😂 What a relief!! Thank you for this and all your REAL input. I'm glad you overcame your slack lifestyle and are now helping me. You're AWESOME. 😊
You’re so right about all these things that it makes me mad how much you called me out lol

I needed this so much. I love planning, I tend to sit hours at my desk planning stuff, writing down everything, trying to consider every potential obstacle etc. The hardest part is getting into action. Sometimes, when I finally get myself to do it, I am amazed of how good it feels and how easy it is. I am wasting my time planning stuff, I should just do it.😢
0:34 That book has written in hungarian! Greetings from Hungary!
SO MANY people on social media need to see this video.
Now this is therapy
You're doing amazing my man, the videos are getting better in terms of both quality and actual content.
I've been doing very well over the past years: successfully fighting a very difficult personality disorder and completely beating the deepest depression of my life. I've been living a life I never imagined possible five years ago. But the little voice you mention in step 8 is very strong. For me, it tells me that it's still not enough, always telling me I should've done more, earlier, better. I've been working at actively being proud of my achievements, because otherwise it's very easy to slip back into bad habits.
This voice is an evil thing. It tells you you're worthless for not working out while it itself is the same thing telling you not to work out because you're worthless. Do not give it this power. It only wants to sustain itself on negativity. You actually have the power to tell it to fuck off and it works surprisingly well.
mainstream stuff about self-improvement are so overrated. The best investment you can make is in yourself. Books are the ultimate learning tool. Reading Bruce Thornwood's Unveiling your hidden potential helped me build discipline and separate my mindset from 90% of other people

I made the mistake of sharing my plans with others, only to have everyone criticize and critique them. So now, I keep my plans and changes to myself, preferring to let my work speak for itself. I was surprised that instead of offering support or encouragement, people tried to nitpick and overanalyze my changes. Eventually, I realized that they were either trying to bring me down or were upset with themselves for not trying to improve. It was a valuable lesson.

" #1 Tell No One "
I just moved to a different country and my family doesnt know where I am. This is great
All the best! 😊
I’ve told literally everyone because telling no one wasn’t working.
The Frankenstein Junior snippets made me laugh really hard. Thank you for that!
Summary:
(make sure to watch the video too)
1. Don't tell anyone.
Do this for you.
2. Start before you're ready.
The feeling of readiness will never come, atleast not without prior experience. So the only way to feel ready is to start before you feel this way. Whatever you feel (tired, insecure, etc) do the thing anyway. This is how you built confidence.
3. Don't hide in the shadows.
Insecure people tend to want to improve without anyone seeing the process and the mistakes along the way. Don't do this. Keep living your life, imperfect as you are.
4. Life is like a trainride
Every little decision is part of the big trajectory. No need for "big moments" just many little "boring" correct choices.
5. Change your environment, change your behaviour. It is that simple. Make it as easy as possible to do what's good for you.
6. What do you want and why?
Figure this out. Know yourself, know the truth. If you think about it, bad behaviour is bad because we delude ourselves and than regret it. Once you put faith in the good path, and start to see some results, you will not want to go back ever again.
7. Pay attention
Notice how much better it feels to be who you want to be. To know you're on the right track. It is the most happy life.
8. Rejoice
Take time to reflect on your behaviour and what this entails for the future. Don't listen to the little voice saying "why didn't you start earlier" this is completely useless. You had your reasons then, and you learned your lessons. You just weren't ready, but somehow, by not giving up you have become ready, and are living it now.
If you can just keep working hard in good faith, what could the years bring? Who could you be? Isn't that more interesting than hypotheticals about your past?
"The secret of change, is not fighting the old, but building the new."
- Seneca

Damn. The hiding during self improvement one hit. I let a lot of opportunity pass me the last 2-3 years because I felt like I didn’t deserve it. I wanted my improved version to participate but I struggled to get there for so long that I never got to participate. I’m in college and wasted time not going out and having experiences and living life because like I said I felt like I didn’t deserve it. Joey, right when I'm in the deepest hole since a long time, when I thought things were on their way to get better, everything feels so overwhelmingly out of control right now.
And right then, you return with not one, but two videos on the topic and I want to thank you for that and all the other gems you already provided us with. Much love from Germany. Have a great one, y'all
(Edit: nothing bad has happened to me btw. I just let myself go real bad)
Havent been watching self improvement in a while and i am so doomed i really need it and it made me feel better
I rarely comment on videos, but this is just one great video! I was watching a random fitness video from an Indian channel and had gone to pee to come back that this video played right after. I don't know if I would've otherwise clicked on this video, I rarely watch videos like this. But man as soon as I listened a few sentences, I couldn't stop and listen to the whole thing. There was so much in this video that I felt like I needed to hear. And I totally love and understand the feeling of feeling better when you're on the path that you know is good for you. I agree to everything you said in this video and oh man I'm just so grateful this video popped up on my TH-cam. Thank you so much!
