You hit the motherload. I’m sitting here in the hurricane getting the outer bands. It’s 8:45 in the evening and the hurricane is up by Tampa now, but the bands are still coming. I’m in Fort Myers. Those shark teeth are so spectacular. I can’t wait to check my creek in the weeks ahead after the water has gone down. I have a nice little collection from back there, but nothing like the ones you just found. Love your videos so much and I have learned so much about fossils. I get many fossils too and I don’t know what they are. I just have a book and try to identify them, but you two have been such a big help.

Now *there's* a place to go back to-- and just think of all the eroding Helene's going to do for you (even though you're gonna have a lot of debris to climb over/through to get back there.) Stay safe, stay in place, and keep dry; my family's weathering it out over in NW FL right now too (I'm way across the country, worrying.) The Big Bend's gonna catch the worst of Helene.

You guys find morrel mushrooms in Florida? Morrels are my favorite mushrooms to look for here in michigan. Just got back from my first fossil dig in aurora...ever. i must say, ive got the bug now. Just found some tiny teeth, but ill be back next year. 🤪 great video 👍

You called them wood ears they do look like a human ear, the flexible and meaty so I could see why they call him that and I surely hope you go back to visit that creek after the hurricane goes through because it’s only going to stir up more from the bottom. It’s going to be wonderful treasure hunting isn’t it? I’ve found several whole Gompothere tusk, teeth and jaw sections here in county Tx. They were funky looking critters with gorgeous tusk!

How do you prepare the wood ears??
I often add them into things like a stir fry! I add them in with everything else during the sautéing process. They have a great crunchy texture. 😊
