- Hey friends! Sometimes you get a wild hair and decide to drive halfway across the country to go fossil hunting somewhere you've always wanted to go. It helps that one of my very best friends moved to Maryland from Florida last year, so I had a place to stay and got to see my friend! So in this video I teamed up with another friend, David, who's from the area and has a TH-cam channel of his own. This video is two days of hunting, one in Maryland, and the other in Virginia. Enjoy!

This video should be removed. The area where the filming took place is a prohibited area. The DNR sign reads ‘CLIFFS SAFETY NOTICE:Due to the danger of landslides caused by active cliff erosion, and the serious injuries they cause, CLIMBING UPON AND WALKING BENEATH THE CLIFFS IS PROHIBITED. This area is permanently closed.it is illegal to collect fossils beneath the cliffs.
When I was a kid, an aunt lived very close to your spot now. This was back in the very early 60's. We would find so many shark teeth on the beach. The beach was backed by sandy clay cliffs, and we would dig in them and find fossiled shells that were huge. That was one of my best memories as a kid. I wanted to grow up to be a paleontologist.
Thanks David and Wildkyle!!❤❤
Thats arrowhead you found is awesome! Thanks for taking us along! 💕
YAY!!! MY TWO FAVORITE FOSSIL HUNTING TH-camRS IN MY HOME STATE!!! I LOVE MATOAKA AND CALVERT AND HAVE BEEN THERE SO MANY TIMES!!! YOU AND HOPPE HUNTING ARE THE BEST AND I WATCH YALL ALL THE TIME!!!
I've been to Matoaka too. So cool.
You local as well? Sweet!
Cheers, brother! ~HH
Maryland here also, the cliffs are permanently closed boo!
Thanks!
I love the “Be whole…Be whole!” I felt like a revival was going to break out…lol.
Nice rocks on that beach, too. The spear head is awesome!
So glad you two met! Hoppe knows the Calverts! Thank you both for wonderful hunts! The arrowheads! Wow! Very much enjoyed these outings!
Thanks for watching Julianne!
About time you made a video about calvert cliffs. I live across the street from where you are hunting at and have been walking the cliffs for years. The big teeth are hard to find. But I assure you that people find them. A truly awesome place.
Are you the guy that looks for bricks on the beach? I met a guy about a month ago and I think the name was Paul. Really tall and long hair?
How do I find the location I'd like to explore it with my wife. Thanks
@@mattsbrutebricks of what drug?😂
@@bryanyoung9482 Calvert Cliffs State Park
@@mattsbrutethat was definitely not Calvert Cliffs state park, but yes send the tourists there instead of where he really is.
You are more than welcome to come to Montana and fossil hunt with me. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing 😊
Wow. Beautiful scenery and the shell wall is amazing. And what an gorgeous finds u 2.both get arrowhead😳😍❤️
Happy birthday Kyle I hope you have a truly blessed day and many more happy years to come!!!🎉
Woooo hooo I used to live out there. I found all kinds of whale bones, croc/shark/ray teeth, rocks, but never the illusive Megalodon. Glad you mentioned the fossils are in the walls of the cliffs and end up in the Bay through erosion.
Matoaka is one of my favorite spots ! So glad you made it up this way.
My first time watching you and you are at one of my favorite places. The approximate 2 mile hike to the cliffs is also great. Maryland is a great state. I am glad you are enjoying one of its many great locations. Thanks for sharing.
Yay, so excited to see you here in Virginia!!
Exciting Kyle.Being out in nature n near water too...LOVE IT.
Crazy spot to look for fossils. Glad you guys made it out safe.
That cardinal might have been your mom saying I’m here! Always love your adventures!
WOW.Great adventure Kyle. You both were amazing.
You were so in awe Kyle, it's such an amazing site to see. I grew up with the same clay formations and balls too (In Australia). I found many a fossil over time. Those shark teeth were something else, so pristine like they fell out yesterday.
Awesome! Great to see you up north at some of the sites I've collected in!
The second I saw the thumbnail I clicked cuz I was like I know those cliffs! I also know that road he drove down. You never forget that road, those potholes are killer
Kyle, oh my goodness!! I've never seen any place like that! That is so beautiful and awesome. Thank you so much for taking us on this adventure.
That was great, love all the fossilized shells and what a cool location! 1000%
Nice finds! Loved the arrowhead, the leatherbacks and the sharks teeth. ✌🏼
Glad you got to look at a spot you have never been to.great content
I lived in MD for 2 years and while I did explore the area I never went hounding or treasure finding. Missed opportunity. Fantastic video and a new treasure finder to discover thanks!
Calvert is my main hunting ground. We actually camp at matoaka! Dont get to do it a lot but SOOO glad you got to get up there. Such an awesome location!
I wanna camp up there sometime! It's so beautiful!
Maryland and Virginia cliffs produce some of the coolest shark teeth....thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
A very nice hunt Kyle! David was great!
The location looks amazing. Great to see you with another video Kyle
Dude,! WOW! WHAT A FIND! Nice arrowhead! . 🥰
At 16:20 , you should carry a magnet, those rocks look like metor broken pieces. Knowing one huge one did land in surrounding areas. COOL DAY KYLE, THANKS....THUNDER STORM HERE. PEACEFUL MICHIGAN DAY, SO MUCH RAIN LATELY. GREAT ADVENTURE.
Aaaahhhh my first time seeing a new video all the videos I watched were from like 2 years ago. 😊
Wowzers, it's crazy the amount of fossils in those rocks! Glad you found some cool ones. :-)
Great finds, guys! Looks like a fun day.
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for this new adventure! It was beautiful and refreshing fun. ✌️💖
Hey i was just at this spot at Calvert on Memorial day weekend lol I was sifting in the water and found a little over a dozen teeth, nothing huge tho.. still on the hunt for my first Meg!
What an incredible video. Definitely a great ending. Who would have thought you would find a spearhead among ocean fossils? Beautiful finds.
What a gorgeous day!
Wow Kyle, that was insane! And the artifacts right at the end!?! What a day! What a two days! Insanity! Wow! And your hemi's are gorgeous! Tha snaggletooth is my favorite type of shark tooth! I like them even. Even better than the meg! I know, blasphemy! But it's true! And they are always the coolest tooth found! Lol! The only tooth that beats it in my opinion is maybe a cow shark tooth. But that's it! And only because cow shark teeth are so rare to find! Super cool two days; those shells were amazing! I will check out David's channel and subscribe! Thank you David for taking Kyle and his camera out to the fossil spots! Awesomeness! Thanks Kyle and David❣️
Awesome finds guys! Keep it up!
I would love to go out with you guys, you seem chill af and doing something you couldn't get me to stop doing
Awesome area for sure !! Sweet finds, and artifacts to boot 😃🙌!!!
I subbed 😎👊
Thanks WildKyle & David 😁 I'm off to check out HoppeHunting 😁
My grandparents live here and we grew up getting them from the beaches there. So happy ur close to home!
AWESOME!!
Cool finds!!!
Cool to see you hunting in my home state of Maryland. You should try coming up in fall/winter, on an early morning tide I get dozens of teeth, a lot of times a small meg too!
That's the plan for next time is to come up in the winter!
@@WILDKYLE Awesome! I’m friends with a local that lives one the cliffs and they allow me access to hunt there, PM me if you would want to meet up for a hunt!
Your M106 Adventure is totally adventurous!
Looked like a lot of fun and some nice finds. 👍
So awesome to finally see you up in my neck of the woods hunting for teeth in the Calvert formation. I always have a hard time finding teeth at the Cliffs. There are other places in the area that are better for finding teeth. Can't wait to see future Maryland videos!
Absolutely awesome! Thank you David!!!! The arrowhead was just incredible! Love you Kyle!!!!!
(Btw, you were at Jekyll recently, and, um, I live in Darien, and, um, you didn't come see me. I'm a bit sad 😢) 💜💜💜
Hey Dana! I haven't been to Jekyll in a veeeeery long time, I think you might be thinking of somewhere else? Hahaha
@@WILDKYLE I think it was just a picture on Facebook 😬
I went to this exact beach with my family in June of 2023. The weather that day was calm and crystal clear, there were barely any waves breaking on the shoreline. Crazy how different it looks with choppy weather. We found some colossal scallop and barnacle fossils and a bunch of shark teeth, ray plates, bone fragments, and petrified wood. That and we befriended some locals who got us into a private beach with even more shark teeth than this beach or the state park. 11/10 trip, would highly recommend to any fossil hunters within driving distance of Maryland
The actual cliffs are permanently closed now, I was trying to go recently. Md resident here.
Holy crap what some beautiful fines absolutely lovely fines❤❤❤
Welcome to Calvert!
Awesome
I live down the street from Calvert Cliffs, it's an amazing place. Nice finds.
Well that was fun! Not knowing Maryland, what surprised me most was bamboo grows there! That was a fun trip. Thanks for sharing with us.
The bamboo was introduced as a landscaping plant and can be invasive. However, whenever we have pandas at the Smithsonian National Zoo, the local area provides a sufficient supply of bamboo to them. For some landowners, feeding the pandas on a regular basis is a great way to keep their bamboo from taking over!
Bewholed!
Some beautiful teeth, from some very beautiful areas!
Hey Kyle - enjoyed this man! Road trips are fun :)
This was the best, what a gorgeous spot! I could sit there and dig through that sand all day!! 💚💙💜
Great video!! Really nice finds too! When you go to Calvert and some other areas around there, you will have better luck finding shark teeth if you take some sifting screens with you. I live 3 hrs north of there in PA. A bunch of us go down there a couple times a year. You will also have more luck a day after a storm.
Definitely gonna try some sifting next time! And I'm gonna go in the winter with better tides!
OH MY GOSH! Brant and I were there the weekend before you!!!!!!!!
Sooo cool! Thanks!
Great video!
Great video guys!!! I live a little North of there, always a joy to visit the cliffs. If you get a chance, visit Browns beach a little North, excellent spot for teeth.
Kyle! So close! Glad you came and hunted well in Maryland. Love that beach, fossil crab claws, amazing ecphora shells (maryland state fossil), sand dollars, moon snails, shark teeth...but def only a few shark teeth each time. hope hoppe showed you some other good Maryland spots! Travel home safely
Very nice fossils, Kyle and Dave! The speartip is absolutely amazing!!!❤
Crazy. Cool. Wow. Insane.
Wild to see something in my feed about where I grew up. I used to walk up and down these shores all the time as a kid back in the 90s. You can get to some secluded beach spots that way. I remember you used to be able to walk freely in places but then some little kids died in a collapse and a bunch of spots got closed off. Some spots are 30-40 feet high of sheer clay wall, scary to walk against knowing all that can happen. I stick to kayaking nowadays. Good to see y'all out there!
Such a cool place and so many great finds.
The Randall cliffs. I lived in Chesapeake Beach for 2 years and I'm also from Florida. A lot of crazy history up there. I had the joys of working on a crab boat out of Abner's Marina. Fun times
I found a megladon tooth on the beach at the Scientist's Cliffs' housing development in Calvert. Found a lot of whale vertebrae also. A very good place to fossil hunt.
Hey, Is that area accessible?
There's a place below Upper Marlboro along the Western Branch Patuxent where older fossils can be found but the site can only be access during drought periods by boat .
Great adventure ❤
26:51……just to the bottom right of the tiger shark tooth is the tip of another shark tooth. “Just the tip” hahahaha!! I live along the western shores of the Chesapeake, 5 minutes from Calvert Cliffs………awesome place to live and hunt!!
We love Matoaka!
Welcome to Maryland :)
800 miles wow
You went Fossil hunting at one of my favorite places in Calvert County, MD. You were moving so fast. I find more of them when I slow down and concentrate on an area. Now I really want to go down there, but I'm still receiving chemo for brain cancer. 🤕
I wish i would have known! We just went down that way about a month ago. (Its about an hour and a half drive for me since im in baltimore)
We decided to go to purse beach instead of calvert though since we never really have any luck. 🙃
I live 20 minutes from here we go to Calvert Cliff's and we go to flag ponds Park right down the street and shark teeth hunting is one of our favorite pastimes as a family. We have shark tooth hunted in South Carolina, Florida even Ocean City in Maryland on the Atlantic Ocean and honestly nothing beats right down the street!
the few times i’ve found shark teeth here i got from sifting ! also there’s another park down the road a bit from calvert called flags pond and that’s where i’ve found most of my teeth
That black one looks like a knife with the one edge curved a little, incredible finds.
Magnificent spot. Happy hunting, you two😂
I saw the thumbnail and was like ‘ is that…? Nah it can’t be…’ except it is 😂 so cool to see the Chesapeake bay cliffs talked about, I feel like they’re very underrated, tho I may be biased lol
same here nice to see home
Where did you guys drive in?? I went to the state park before but don’t remember driving on any trails and the red trail walking trail is about 2 miles which is trying with two little ones
I don't see that anyone has mentioned it, that is a knife blade that you found. Super cool!
I see you dropped in at Matoaka Beach Cabins. I’ve been there several times. Stayed in the cabins once. Never really found any big teeth. Tried the Va side once. It’s 6 hour drive for me so I’ll stick to SC Meg tooth hunting. It’s only and hour longer for me. I do want to do another Florida trip and dive again. Good luck in your next hunt. Maybe I’ll see you out somewhere again.
Good ground finds 👍
👀that arrowdead good keeper
Great admin!
Couple minutes down the road from me. People find alot of tuna bones , wahoos bones and mahi bones from when these fish used to be in the bay. Pretty cool
I was just there in May! I didn’t find much at the cottages where you guys are but Flags pond and Purse beach are two great areas to check out. And westmoreland state park in Va as you head back south.
Where I started my collection! Thousands of teeth later from up and down the East Coast Maryland will always be home even though I live in South Carolina...
Calvert is awesome. Taken my kids a few times.
Hi Kyle,and bud ,
Woo! You’re finally in my home state!!
