the chicken oil is the rendered chicken fat which is used to enhance the flavor of the bar chow (pulutan in tagalog) which are usually savory food taken with liquor. most famous pair of the chicken oil is the chicken inasal (barbecued chicken, famous in the visayas region of the philippines). the "pulutan" shown is grilled pork belly, and the one beside it is "sisig" which is sizzling mix of pig face, ears and snout.
there's a reason why many people try to sneak in rice for the pulutan because most of the time, if not all of the time, it's REALLLYYY good food like sisig, pork belly, chicharon, liempo, and all the other greasy meat stuff. it's hard not to bust out the rice from the rice cooker with those food on the table while you're drinking lol.

Yes, he's playing a character w/c they named Bogart the Explorer. PaperbugTV does a lot of comedy skits but a lot of them are informative as well. Oh, and also eating anything with rice in the Philippines is considered as a full meal. Like for example, many filipinos (especially the older generation) would consider eating burgers and fries as eating snacks; they'd only consider a meal a full one if it has rice w/ it 😅

After drinking hard liquor the 'remaining' participants (strongest of them all) has to consume beer which may vary from 3% alcohol to 6% alcohol depending on how hard the former drink was. No way! I'm a Filipino but I always have my own wine glass for my drinks. But yes that is true this kind of etiquette before the pandemic came. But lately as my observation even my closest friends they are aware to use their own shot glass😂😂😂 however some folks like from the provinces they would like to shared their shot glass lol.!

Another Drinking Ethiquite is even before pandemic, is DO NOT LEAVE you glass in the drinking table during a drinking session as it will get REFILLED. That happened to me. I had to spilt it into 2 and add a chaser (that time was soda) to mellow it down. Also there are instances in a community where there are small drinking sessions scattered and one of the person knows you, you will be "asked" to "Take a shot for the road."
the common glass is also a way to make sure that everyone takes turns with the same amount of alcohol. And the gunner or "tanggero" is responsible for checking if every member had their drink already.😂😂
Filipinos are usually used to drinking at home or around the neighborhood because there are not a lot of bars or pubs even in the cities, and usually those establishments are fancy or expensive for most Filipinos. So most of the drinking sessions 1glass/cup being rotated among drinkers has been the practice and Filipinos generally dont mind
When I was in college, when some fraternity brothers come to have a drink at home, we drink a local brand of liquor and have a cheap canned squid or sardines as pulutan ... this is how we drink when we are broke or have little money to spend. This happens only at a time when our monthly allowance has been stretched thin, usually a few days before the end of the month.

You can politely ask for a separate glass. The practice of using one glass originated in a mountainous area where even water is not readily available. And people thought that the alcohol in "gin" kills bacteria.
Here's a recipe in my hometown they call it Bagis first buy a Ground Beef,Mama sita's sinigang sa sampalok mix hot,fresh garlic,Onion and fresh chili called labuyo or jalapeno will do i almost forgot oil or coconut oil healthier than vegie oil then first diced garlic then onion the onion does'nt to be diced if you want chop chili's then put oil on wok when it's hot put garlic when it;s golden brown put onion smashed ground beef then the mix half of it then the chili's when almost cooked put the rest of the mix then eat with white rice

I think they missed a very critical aspect of a drinking session in the Philippines. And that is the presence of a karaoake machine in ALL and I mean ALL of drinking sessions.
The “pulutan” shown are the most common pulutan.. the first one is Liempo or grilled pork belly and the other one with sliced chili’s is called sisig or minced pork (face, belly, ears, or any fatty part of pork).
If ever you decide to do a second part of this. Heres a couple of more characters I believe should be added. The Maniac: This character will try to engage in sexual activities once intoxicated regardless of gender, species or objects.. The Linguist: A character that is compelled to speak English during the session. One thing to note about this individual is that he may speak other languages too regardless if it is a non existent language. The Britanica: This person who has the ability to answer every question under the sun. He is able to conjure up solutions that would would put every politician to shame. The Conspiracy theorist: A character that can validate certain unanswered theories and can validates that he or she or his close friend has experienced it.

These are the most common stereotypes in a drinking session here. There's also the Ambassador/disciple, people who speak in tongues or becomes multilingual. The drama artist that cries and talks about their exes when inebriated The comic artist/clown that leads the crowd and makes everyone laugh with their pranks. Can turn into the pest that jumps on another table and can get you in trouble There are others, but these come from the top of my head.

Most common Pulutan is Sisig or Lechon kawali. Can be Crispy pata or bbq Chicken intestines. Depends with the participants budget or of the celebrant if there's a special occasion.
"Tanggero" is like the "liquor dealer" much like in poker where you have a "card dealer". the "Tanggero" deals (pass the glass with the drink) around the people participating in the drinking session. He makes sure everyone have an equal share of the liquor being served (because in the Philippines, everyone chips-in to buying the drink to be taken the night of the drinking sessions.
the pulutan thats greasy and fatty is what we called inihaw na liempo ( grilled belly loin of pork ) and sisig ( boiled, grilled and sauted with chili and onions ) . thats the best partner for brandy ,whiskey and gin .

Here's a recipe in my hometown they call it Bagis first buy a Ground Beef,Mama sita's sinigang sa sampalok mix hot,fresh garlic,Onion and fresh chili called labuyo or jalapeno will do i almost forgot oil or coconut oil healthier than vegie oil then first diced garlic then onion the onion does'nt to be diced if you want chop chili's then put oil on wok when it's hot put garlic when it;s golden brown put onion smashed ground beef then the mix half of it then the chili's when almost cooked put the rest of the mix then eat with white rice

I think they missed a very critical aspect of a drinking session in the Philippines. And that is the presence of a karaoake machine in ALL and I mean ALL of drinking sessions.
The “pulutan” shown are the most common pulutan.. the first one is Liempo or grilled pork belly and the other one with sliced chili’s is called sisig or minced pork (face, belly, ears, or any fatty part of pork).

Most common Pulutan is Sisig or Lechon kawali. Can be Crispy pata or bbq Chicken intestines. Depends with the participants budget or of the celebrant if there's a special occasion.
"Tanggero" is like the "liquor dealer" much like in poker where you have a "card dealer". the "Tanggero" deals (pass the glass with the drink) around the people participating in the drinking session.
He makes sure everyone have an equal share of the liquor being served (because in the Philippines, everyone chips-in to buying the drink to be taken the night of the drinking sessions.
