      Fixed! Thanks to you I left it wired up and freed it all up without removing it to the bench. Perfect. Thank you very much indeed. 🍻

    Dear,
    Your video's were always helping me. Last year we had contact about changing the bearings in the IRD and gearbox of the freelander1 td4 2004.
    Did you ever change the timing chain on this engine?
    Can I do it with the engine in the car? Do I really have to take off the cilinder head to replace the timing chain?
    Looking forward to your response,
    Kind regards,
    Kris

      I’ve not done that on a td4 so sorry can’t help. Try the Haynes workshop manual or Landrover one if you can find it online. This one seems good value on CD: ebay.us/PTfiYU

      Thanks for your message! I did the work, and today I tested, all ok for now. Was little bit difficult to understand how to stick springs inside, but after close the door lock I have putted inside the 2 springs.
      Thanks you again.

    Thanks for the excellent video, serious question any other way to get the 2 torx and 2 Philips screws out or any other way to get the locking mechanism out if the door won't open at all? I've tried from the inside but can't get the locking mechanism off/out.

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers. Sometimes holding the outside handle/switch and giving the handle surround a shove /bang inwards is enough to activate it. Otherwise get to the wires to the solenoid/motor and try supplying 12v direct to it.

    • @bluchill
      @bluchill 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, tried pushing and shoving, think the last resort is the 12V to the selonoid. Thanks again.

      I guess the solenoid is not pulling enough on the lock or the solenoid has failed. You will have to try and get access to it to pull it manually.

    Looking to buy an 05 td4 in 2 days time so been watching our buying advice. Ive been told neither rear winows are work. Is the rear assembly the same as the front? Have no idea what the issue is yet as haven't viewed the car yet. If the issue is the same as this think im fairly confident in tackling it aftercwatching your vid so thanks in advance on that one 😊

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is similar to the front. Just a different shape. Good luck.

      It's me again😂 bought the damn thing and slowly been doing odd jobs. Now my boot latch has started doing this so I'm back to your videos for help. Just curious did you tap and die the rivets or just drill a hole? Looking at the prices of a replacement mechanism I want to give it a go as I really think it's the same issue as in your case. Thanks in advance again

    Could you help me please, with the microswitch? I actually left the handle itself, i want to change the microswitch, cause it seems doing nothing. What are the 3 cables for? I know that how switch work, when you cut one polarity, you turn on and the electricity continues... but i dont understand the blue wire. Can you help me with that?

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  ปีที่แล้ว

      The microswitch will be a single pole 2 way switch. The central pin switches between connecting to one pin then the other. Hence 3 wires. The reason is probably to activate the solenoid for unlock then another for running it in reverse, or for the window.

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have just done a microswitch change and should correct what I said earlier: the microswitch is only a SPST type simple momentary on/off switch. Two of the wires are actually joined together inside the switch, the two black ones. The switch just connects these over to the blue wire to open the door. Hi. How do i get the mechanism out if the door doesn't ooen?

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it is the microswitch in the handle not working then follow this video. If it’s the solenoid motor not operating the lock then you have to remove the inside panel from inside the car to get to the lock unit, which I mention briefly in the video.

      Not something anyone wants to advertise due to security risks. Watching the video will help you understand how it all works though.
