Did you manage to sort it out? I ended up replacing the mechanism after all. This intervention surely helped, but for peace of mind, I just renewed and adjusted a new part. :)
my door is jammed shut and if i put key in lock and turn it the lock barrel comes right out of casing?but will try opening from inside,hopefully i can sort it...cheers geoffrey..great video..:)
Thank you for the kind words. You should at least be able to open it by removing the door card, and manually unlocking the mechanism. Just look at which rod comes from the barrel, and flip the lever it is supposed to activate. Best of luck! Thank you for stopping by.
Any suggestions for a 1999 D2? It looks very different to yours and I can't get the door open or the interior cover off to really get in there. It looks more like the plastic white actuators I see on videos for the side doors. Thanks.

Might I suggest you search for parts diagrams, or even look for the exact replacement part on an online catalogue. You might be able to figure it out a little better... Ah. Now that's a bit of a problem isn't it? Have you tried activating the mechanism with the door open by using a screwdriver to see it it latches? If it does, the striker position may simply need adjusting. If not, maybe the mechanism needs cleaning and lubricating, or it could possibly be broken. I hope you figure it out, having the rear door swing open at any other time than with the car at a full stop would be dramatic. Best of luck.
This is a lifesaver. My discovery is doing exactly the same thing. Keys spins but door won't open.
