I was not expecting to get kinda sad in a Resident Evil game. I always liked Luis, but he died so early in original. Now you spend time with him in the remake and he tries to make amends and redeem himself only to end up dead. But before dying, he helps Leon.

I think Capcom making Luis a former Umbrella employee is one of the best changes they made to his character. It makes his relationship with Leon more significant and meaningful. This is someone that, unknowing to him, indirectly ruined Leon’s life, both because of his research for Umbrella and his research for Los Illuminados. So in Luis’ final moments, when Leon sets aside those differences and lights Luis’ cigarette for him (with an Umbrella lighter as well), it makes the scene far more impactful. Despite everything, Leon still sees him as a friend.
He was an umbrella employee in the original too, but that was only told trough text after his death, the remake luis is definitely better in every single way

I'd agree, but I don't think Luis himself was responsible for the Raccoon City incident. As far as the lore goes I think, Luis is responsible for the creation of Nemesis as he was on the same team of scientists who created him, but Nemesis isn't what caused the RC incident, it was Birkin and the rats who consumed the virus and began spreading it, and Leon never encountered Nemesis at all (Even if he had, Nemesis wouldn't care for Leon as he only targets S.T.A.R.S members unless Leon provokes him.) Leon kind of hating Luis after Hunnigan tells him that he originally worked with Umbrella didn't feel justified in my view. It would be one thing if it was Jill who met and learned about Luis' role in the Raccoon City Incident instead of Leon, but I don't think every scientist in Umbrella was intentionally evil, they just did what they were hired to do, and bear in mind that Umbrella didn't intentionally cause the Raccoon City Incident, it was an accident. Umbrella never meant for it to happen in the first place.
I really like Luis, he brought such a charm and humor to re4 remake, man it really hurts to watch him die knowing that he won't be there in future RE games. RIP Luis, eh my friend.

Yeah, the 2005 original RE4 scene of Luis' death had a cheesy Leon reaction. It went something along the lines of this: Luis?!? LUIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!!!! Then Leon stared intently into Luis' corpse on the castle floor as though he tried to call his soul back. To be fair, Leon did this exact reaction to Ada Wong in the 1998 original RE2 as well, right as she had fallen down the dark abyss above the catwalk that Leon tried to pull her back up to in the underground NEST Umbrella laboratory.

They changed Luis story and gave him such strong plot relevance as the ex Umbrella scientist who worked on Nemesis, i feel like his survival twist adds more interesting scenarios plotwise. Especially now they gave him way less deadly death where other characters survived worse in RE stories, and he died in the castle not in the island where everything blew up, so his survival twist is the easiest to do. Notice Luis passed out and cameback after the stab to save Leon despite his injury, so there can be a twist that he was just in another coma and not dead, or he could be developing some regen sample he was testing on his body which explains the suspicious scars on his left cheek and neck in close ups pics, but he never tried fatal injuries so he said what he believed would be his last words to Leon but in reality he could be just in coma while healing. There are many neat ideas they can do with Luis after they retconned his story: - A scenario where Jill would try to kill him for creating her 1st nightmare Nemesis, and Leon would stop her. - Luis can make samples to help the cast gain speed and power like Wesker but temporarily to beat BOWs, and he got the vaccines to help them go back to normal, it'd be cool to see Leon with Wesker power. - In RE4R notes Luis was planning to trick Ada to keep the plaga sample for himself to control creatures to beat Saddler, so if he survives he'd totally make Nemesis 2.0 he can fully control through the parasite to fight for the good side to help the cast beat BOWs, we get to play as the freaking Nemesis controlled by Luis who would be doing cool stuff with Red9 next to his giant companion. - Scenario where Luis just turn himself into Nemesis 2.0 through successful experiments where he can fully control himself to help the cast beat BOWs, and he can regularly transform between human/monster forms, because of his previous canon experience in developing parasites/viruses he can do literally anything.

Man I missed Luis after his death. The remainder of the game felt very empty with his absence. Krauser’s face is about to get well acquainted with my shotgun when I find him.

i didn't care about luis in the original game but they did him justice in the remake they gave us more information about him and made us spend more time with him so his death in this game is way more impactful than the original's when he died i literally couldn't play anymore i was so devastated i had to take a long break before continuing the rest of the game, in short words good job capcom 👍
