  • In this video, Alphas AIR TW Clicking Drag??? Sagisi Customs Drag Clicker Set Install and Review, I install and test out the drag clicking set from Sagisi Customs. This is a pretty easy install and can be done in about 15 minutes. Watch along as Hobie-Wan Kenobi goes step by step on how to install the drag clicker.

    A clicking drag is the only thing that was missing from the Daiwa Alphas AIR TW. Ryan from Sagisi Customs heard of everyone wishing the Alphas AIR had a clicking drag. Ryan designed and created many prototypes before coming out with this version.
    With this upgrade, I feel the Alphas AIR TW is the ultimate BFS reel. Comment below what BFS reel tops this Alphas AIR TW.
    Thanks for watching and comment below what you want to see next.

    Thank you for making this video! I saw that this also works for the 21 model of the Alphas SV TW, so I just bought one!

    Nice video, always nice to see it done before doing it. Your description of how it is smother than other clickers convinced me to order one.
    Also, while I'm in there I'm thinking of replacing the drag washer. Any idea about what size it is? Thanks

      I am glad to be the guinea pig for everyone. The clicker is a nice quality upgrade.
      Make sure to use the smallest amount of grease on the clicker. Too much grease will muffle the sound.

  • @ForYeshua1
    @ForYeshua1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's really nice. It seems smoother than my Antares. That's why I took my drag clicker out. Like your scorpion, it was choppy.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clicking drag set works. The sound did get a little louder when I kept making it buzz. Probably worked in the grease. The drag is still smooth

  • @coreygoble4766
    @coreygoble4766 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I may need to take mine apart, I definitely put more grease on the clicker than that lol. I love it though, its so smooth.

      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try holding your thumb lightly on the spool and spin your handle a bit. It will distribute that grease. If you you still have issues, just wipe some grease off.

    Nice video 👍 Great explanation but the price is a little steep considering we aren't even sure of the longevity of the product. It looks to be well made. I will be anxious to see how it works for you. Im still on the fence but like you I typically like the aid of a clicker on the water.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It feels pretty durable. I will not know for certain until I get a season with it. We never know how a new product will be though. From his work I have seen on Instagram, I think he chose his materials wisely.

      Something to consider. I dont know how long they will be available so, perhaps buy on then sell it if you dont want it? If these stay sold out for a while or, he stops making them, the used (or new in package) market should be good enough for a no/minimal loss sale.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure. I don't believe so because Sagisi Customs has a Steez AIR and he definitely would have tried fitting the clicker set in there.

      I did, the 7'1" MH Steez AGS (blue accents). It is a good rod. Very light for how much power it has.

    Hey, just bought an Alphas Air and was wanting to install this drag clicker. How has the clicker been for you? Have you experienced any issues with it?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had any issues with the drag clicker. The kit is easy to install and it also have very tight tolerances (in a good way). The clicking drag was the only issue I had with the Alphas AIR TW. The kit also fits the Alphas SV TW

  • @jeffreylenz7314
    @jeffreylenz7314 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was thinking about getting this kit for my alphas sv tw , but what happens when you have to replace the main gear, I would assume you can’t reuse this kit.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. Just soak the gear in acetone for a little bit and it will break the super glue down.

  • @joelmansson8936
    @joelmansson8936 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you think that the SV-spool for the 21 Alphas will fit the 20 Alphas air? Might be a stupid question but still curious. Cheers!

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spools are not compatible. Alphas SV is 32mm, Alphas AIR is 28mm

    • @joelmansson8936
      @joelmansson8936 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HobieWanKenobi oh I see. It doesn't help to take off the spool spacers? Since those make the alphas air spool compatible with the alphas 21? Or is it just the other way around?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically you could but, by the time you put the resources into it, it wouldn't be easy to swap spools around.

    How much do those two inserts weigh? I’m assuming the added weight is minuscule

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure. I think the clicker set as a whole reduces a little weight. I would have to weigh it to see

  • @19tomy94

    Does somebody know if the clicker fits on a Air Stream Custom too?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would assume no based on the different generation gears and the different gear ratio. The Alphas AIR TW clicker set is very close to fitting in the Alphas SV TW but, it does not. With some slight modding it may work. I would have to try the Alphas AIR TW drag clicker in my Alphas SV for the best comparison to for Air Stream Custom

    How much the max drag after you install the clicker?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems about the same. I haven't tested them side by side but, smoothness is still there and I haven't had the drag slip when I didn't want it to.

    if you take your time can anyone put in a drag clicker ive never attempted it before andwant one for my alphas but not sure weather i should attempt to do it or get a shop to install is it easy enough to do myself eventhough ive never attempted before

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting a drag clicker might not be too hard if you have the tools and time to figure it out. Nuisances like getting the clicking to drag smoothness ratio down and also engineering it to get the least affect on drag smoothness isn't a simple task.

    What bearings would you recommend for shimano SLX bfs ?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been using Roro Micro Bearings in mine with great results. Takes 2x 730 size bearings for casting. 1 in the side plate and the other will go under the where the spool tension knob is.
