A teen who bonded with her stepdad over a love of trucks was left crying with happiness when he surprised her with her first-ever vehicle for her birthday. For Kylee Fullerton, 14, and stepdad Rusty, from Bolton, Mississippi, discussing trucks had become "their thing," her mom, Lindsay, said. For more than a year and a half, Kylee and Rusty, 43, had been talking trucks and sending photos back and forth to each other, opining on what they liked and didn't like about each one. So with Kylee's 14th birthday coming up, Lindsay and Rusty spoke about surprising her with her first vehicle - and by purchasing an old truck, Kylee and Rusty could spend the next year working on the vehicle as a project before she could legally drive. Over the weeks leading up to the celebrations, Rusty sent Kylee hundreds of different photos of trucks, each time receiving his stepdaughter’s opinion. Having sourced a 1986 square body Chevrolet Silverado, Rusty and Lindsay waited for Kylee to return from school, while Lindsay kept her daughter distracted as Rusty pulled the truck onto the driveway. Kylee then unwrapped what she thought was her main present - a purse she wanted - before she was encouraged to look inside. At first, she took a second to process what the keys she was holding might be for, before everything clicked, and she sprinted outside to see what awaited her. As soon as the teen set eyes on her new truck, she immediately dropped to the floor with emotion, fighting back tears and giving Rusty a big hug.

My first was six weeks old when I met her and she was a huge reason that I asked my wife to marry me. Now 24 years later we have four daughters and that baby I met when she was six weeks old is a college graduate and a teacher. Her footprint was the first one I got tattooed on my arm. There’s no step in my daughter!

Now a days, the younger generation, can't even change or fix a flat tire. That was the first thing I learned went I was old enough to drive the family car. From the video, she's been doing that since she was three years old. I'm happy for her.

As a step-dad myself I never introduce my daughter as my "step" daughter . She is my kid , I couldn't love her more if she were my own .

It makes my day hearing about a kid who chooses to go old school whether its a car, truck or their music interests. Definitely a super kid and a super dad. The clip of her working the ratchet as a little girl just floored me. She knew what she wanted at a very early age.

Dating a woman with kids comes with a strong caveat which is they all are a package deal. There are no individuals she isn’t much of a woman if she chooses you over her kids. I am 70 . My girlfriend was four years younger than me. She had adopted two brothers three years apart from birth. We had almost seven years when she past of covid. The boys were 6 and 9 when we met. 13 and 16 . When she left us . They are now almost 17 and 20 . Best years of my life..

@@JimVeit-ul8ux I was never a stepdad. As the child of a stepdad, I was not the emotional priority of my mother. My stepdad was the main priority of my mother after over 40 years of marriage. Therefore, while I agree with your perspective in some ways, my life as a stepchild would have suffered greatly without the living guidance of my stepdad. Clearly, my mother did not select wisely when she initial married my birth father. But my mother learned from her mistakes, and my sister and I were the beneficiary of her improved judgement. Life will always remain a messy experience with no guarantees. More often than not, we all have to make sacrifices if we to be love or loved. My mother was clearly successful in her 40-year marriage to my stepdad. Me, not so much. Peace and blessings to you.

Obviously something was right about them since they were made from 1973 to 1987 with one major face lift in the front clip. I've had several and wouldn't mind having one again.

I have twin daughters now in their twenties whom I have never met due to a nasty divorce. Honestly I was crying, and not out of envy but was celebrating with them. I live alone but I got a t-shirt that says, STill plays with trucks. I too am a tinkerer. I designed and made my own toneau cover because mine kept ripping. I designed and welded together my own plow. I bake my own bread, pies, chili, beans etc. I believe we are all missing out on special moments like this one. WAY to go Step dad who stepped it up for the rest of em. Pride and lack of forgiveness is killing our country
