“Coach, I’ve played against walk-ons; that is no walk-on.”
Brandon is the reason he was no longer a walk-on. He earned his place on that team with his discipline (losing 50+ lbs, getting up every morning at 5:15am, exercising), perseverance through failure when lesser men would have given up, and enthusiastic dedication to learning the proper techniques (“remember your steps”). It’s a good life lesson for all of us.

This man ran a 4.88 at the combine. That’s INCREDIBLY fast for someone his size. What a remarkable story he had(s).
^Quick story to back this up^
We were playing pickup one day at our local school’s field. I was thrown the rock and had nothing but crappy half-green turf in front of me to the end zone. I saw my life flash before my eyes as a MASSIVE, FAT varsity lineman tackled my ass from nowhere.
Lessons learned: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE LINEMEN! They are fast!

All about vision and self belief, despite what others might say. Nearly everyone laughed at him and said no way he can do this. Brandon thought he could do it the whole time and kept the faith and head held high at all times. He stayed true and became an all time great man and story- will never forget this film.

Based on a true story, Brandon Vaughn Burlsworth was an offensive lineman for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team from 1995 to 1998. He joined the team as a walk-on and eventually became an All-American and was going to marry television host Heather Nichols but died in a car accident offseason from a head on collision on his was to Chruch ..RIP Brandon 🕊

As Notre Dame die-hard, Rudy is my favorite football movie, my favorite underdog story, and one of my 3 favorite movies of all time. Yes, it took some creative liberties, but it still brings tears to my eyes.
With that said, I absolutely love this movie. From what I understand, it doesn't take too many creative alterations; it's pretty much the real and amazing story of Brandon Burlsworth.
He is a true inspiration to anyone who was ever told, "You can't do it."
The world needs more Brandon Burlsworths. RIP to a great football player and a better man.

Lived this, except for the car wreck at the end. Went from 300 down to 230 in high school. Got my 40's down to 5.3. Went on to start in D2 as a sophomore because at 6'3" 260, I could run in the mid 5's while ever other OL in the league was turning 6's and 7's at 300+ . Eating right and running about 6 miles a week along with weight room training.
