I walked on to my college football team after all the practices work outs 110 yd sprints coach called me to his office and awarded me my scholarship.......my position coach came by and congratulated me. I walked out of there on cloud nine the first person I called was my mama holding back tears she was so happy for me. It was one of the proudest days of my life to achieve my dream. I'm proud of these guys.
This boi lyin his arse off... Even if it was a "small college" guess what... small colleges dont generally give athletic scholarships anyways... Kinda depressing the things people do to feel better about themselves
French Doge looked up his name, dude put up 1400 yds and 23 td as a running back and 60 tackles and 2 forced fumbles as a defensive player and committed to south Alabama, which is a D1 school so they do give scholarships so very possible he’s telling the truth
afe laid Oh definitely. But it was a job that walk-ons were doing for free before. I was just noting that some younger people who don't understand how freakishly expensive college is may not understand why it is so emotional.
Damian Lillard 2.0 Well, that depends on the car. A "new car" could be anywhere from $19k up to $100k and more. I would say $19k - $100k per year is about the value of a year of university through a scholarship, and most are going to be closer to the lower-end of that scale. Yes, some colleges get close to $100k or more in tuition, but the very expensive schools either don't have sports or they do not offer full-ride scholarships. An example would be Harvard. Yes, they have a football team but no they do not offer full-ride scholarships, just like all of the other Ivy League schools.
Coach:well your not a walk on anymore Nate: Omg thank you so much for this opportunity and scholarship Coach: oh I meant your kicked off the team and the school
I was a walk on for New Mexico State for my Junior and Senior year. Although i never got to experience earning a scholarship like these men, In just 2 years as a walk on, i earned a spot on the travel team, earned playing time in every game, and left my senior year a bowl champion. Still a dream come true. Congratulations to these players though, huge huge accomplishment
I almost had that scholarship moment but I was hospitalized and lost everything. I hope these kids and future kids appreciate it and much love and luck to these kids. Congrats
2 of my friends walked on D1 they were so happy when they got scholarships. hard workers these kids are, full classes and sports every day. Not easy at all.
The last one really got me. Bringing his mom in on it and when she said I was going to the bank that day to put my car up as collateral. I felt that so deep. ❤️❤️
I love these videos so much! Not only is it beyond heartwarming to see the player and their family’s reaction, but to see how genuinely excited their teammates are for them just make my heart so happy!!!
I never cry before from a video, but that last whew man touched my heart a lot... reminded me about how much my football coached cared about each one of us athletes in a special way.
I remember when I got mine, and it’s hard to put it into words. You’re on a team where most of the guys already have a ‘ship, and don’t have the perspective of how important each day is. Each practice, each workout, each meeting. Life of a walk-on is impossible to understand unless you’ve lived it.
Its crazy how walk ons be some of the best players. All it takes its recognition. Being an Auburn fan, seeing Will Hastings walk on as a onside kicker, and now he's one of the best receivers coming back in the SEC.
This made me tear up with happy tears for these young men whose dreams came true.. God bless these young men. Hope this journey takes them where they want to go.
Ive been through tough times and know poor as good as anyone. I decided that i wanted better and i just turned 18 and started college and am BLESSED with my grandma and aunt that support me where i can play football and pursue my career. Happy for these guys
man that made me cry.,.,, i dont do sports but when i got my academic scholarship awarded it was amazing, and i already knew i would get it. i can’t imagine the amount of stress taken off their shoulders.
Never got a scholarship for sports or anything like that, but I did get a full academic scholarship my senior year of college. When I saw that email I could not even comprehend what had happened to me. I was in such disbelief I reloaded the email probably a dozen time. I'm just thankful for my incredibly supportive mom and sister as well as my great group of friends. I'm forever grateful of the opportunities awarded to me by my institution
man watching this just brought joy to me idk why i was given a full ride to EMU (eastern michigan) for a Linebacker this year and i was freaking out glad to start playing in a week ;)
So true... baseball players are out there getting 1/4 scholarships and because of title IX there are wemons feild hockey players that get more scholarship money for a borderline club sport...
the last one hit home for me. i was a highly scouted prospect my jr/sr year before i tore both acl's in one game. the kids earned the scholarships for sure!
I was 5ft 9 and 165 lbs in high school. Ran a 5.0 40yrd dash. But playing football was the best thing I ever did in this life. I started at offensive gaurd and I was good. If I was just a few inches taller I would have walked on some D-3 team. Love this video. Im 62 now and I love the sport still.
My nephew gave up his scholarship when he transferred to a special category of player at the University of Alabama. That next year they won the National championship. He had a blast there learning from the best college coach and now he has graduated and he’s working as a college football scout. He got the best training ever for his profession, and he will have his championship ring forever. Great decision.
I’m a walk in at a division III school and had to play guard at 220lbs, even though there are no athletic scholarships at the D3 level, after a year of playing guard I got to move to linebacker which is nice
Anyone can get a full ride scholarship and get paid on top of it. It’s called serving your country. Spend 4 years in the military any branch any job and leave with a 4 year scholarship with the GI bill. I used it. It’s a phenomenal program.
bro thas heartwarming when the coaches surpise u wit a scholly thas what i call it but its truly hard to get a scholarship from a university you have to do all this just to play im ready to prove after highschool always did always will mamba mentality over here
Totally and completely magically. It is one thing to be a part of a team on this level. I walked on The University of Oklahoma, and it was special while it lasted. I had a health condition sideline me. But it must be a special feeling to get that scholarship! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I was a walk-on for Syracuse from 81-84. I didn’t need a scholarship, as both my parents were full-tenure professors, thus myself and my 6 siblings all qualified for a full-tuition employee scholarship. This video nonetheless resonates in so many ways, as there are so many that, as shown in this video, are in this for the love of the game. Juxtaposed to that are the full-ride athletic scholarship players that take it for granted and don’t even complete their degree program.... and one last note - another term for a walk-on to a football team, is “Human Tackling Dummy”, b/c chances are you’ll end up on the “Demo team”, essentially being an actor emulating the game behaviors and play selections that the coming week’s opponent will likely use
Unfortunately this video did not mention Patrick Laird at Cal. Laird is now our featured running back. In the Big Game against Stanford last year Laird had 20 carries for 168 yards and one TD. Stanford's Bryce Love, who is a serious Heisman candidate this year, had 14 carries for 101 yards and one TD in the same game. Patrick Laird also started a summer reading program for elementary school kids. He celebrates his touchdowns by doing a pantomime of reading a book.
I can watch these videos all day because these young men and women have to give 110% of themselves. I went to a big football college and it makes me sick the players are not allowed to profit from their likeness, name, or number being used to generate millions of dollars for the college. I think P.J. Fleck is a class act and wished he coached at my college.
Lauren It means you weren’t offered a scholarship by the school, so you went there to that school on your own money, and tried out for the team and made it. Them getting put on scholarship means that the team decided they were good enough to use an athletic scholarship on, which they only have so many to use per NCAA rules.

Ik I'm late af but how did it go after that
@Mr. Scoot Scooter It could've been a small college so it wouldn't matter anyway
@Mr. Scoot Scooter Yeah you're probably right lol.
This boi lyin his arse off... Even if it was a "small college" guess what... small colleges dont generally give athletic scholarships anyways... Kinda depressing the things people do to feel better about themselves

A lot of the younger viewers may not realize this, but getting on scholarship is basically like being given a new car, value-wise. Each year.

My son was blessed to get a scholarship right out of high school. These walk-ons definitely deserve it. Congrats young men
I love how the team rally’s around their peers , such heart ❤️ warming
I love watching these. I had to work my way thru college and it took longer than 4 years, but to see these guys get their scholarships is pure joy.

"Hey coach I need to work to afford to go to school"
"You'r off the team kid".
Nice.
This kind of took me out of it a bit. How can you expect that of a guy when he doesn't even play every Saturday. It's insane
I think the coach already had his mind made up about giving him a scholarship before that conversation so he was probably just messing with him
@@brendancarter3453 I think so too, but what of the kid was just like "okay, bet I quit" lmaooo
Nothing more gratifying to me .
Is hard work paying off .
Its crazy how walk ons be some of the best players. All it takes its recognition. Being an Auburn fan, seeing Will Hastings walk on as a onside kicker, and now he's one of the best receivers coming back in the SEC.
Kiante's mother's reaction brings me to tears every time.
Would have been nice if he had gone on to make the NFL....Sadly he was a bust and is probably working at McDonalds.
greg d he still has a college degree so probably doing something better than that
Tia Chapman is a real great mother and person.
Im a walk on here at UNC and man I hope my day comes

With love from east Africa,uganda
i'd be salty af if a back up kicker got a scholarship over me
james Jones 3rd string kicker
If you are the starter and you don’t have a Scholarship you shouldn’t be playing.
Cody Collins not enough money to go around on some schools
#kickersarepeopletoo But I would be too
Every team needs a kicker. Every. Single. One.

It so nice to see a video of good kids getting their dreams.
Walk on to scholly is the one of the biggest achievements one can make in college sports. Nothing but sheer effort and hard work.
This is cool and all for football, but real talk, baseball needs more than just 11 full rides for a 40 man roster
