@Wylie Wildt Rude Awakening is in my top 3 Prong albums. I like Beg To Differ and Prove You Wrong more. I got into the band when Beg To Differ came out and Prove You Wrong made me an even bigger fan. Never liked Cleansing as much, but Rude Awakening was so solid. A good mix between the newer style (more industrial) and old hooks (especially in the choruses).

Quite a bit of 90s metalcore was very groove metal influenced. Earth Crisis - Gommorah's Season Ends, Vision of Disorder and One King Down had a big groove metal influence on the riffing. Also Turmoil, though they were a bit more rhythmically complex. Lots of the heavier hardcore from the era gets overlooked and it was great

You have a good wife Ola , it's awesome how Louise nods along to your playing and is into metal. My wife is a good wife also and puts up with a lot of my crap , but she absolutely hates metal and hates me playing guitar. We have nothing in common music wise , she listens to some pop crap on corporate radio or nothing at all. When we're driving in the car together she complains non stop even when the volume is at it's lowest level possible , which you know sucks when you're listening to metal. It takes the enjoyment out of it. I tell her it's not meant to be listened to at low volumes , that defeats the purpose! Rock on bro!!!\m/

I was so in the moment when i go to recall how I felt in certain moments during the show its all just a haze. most of the other major artists i've seen tour regularly and thankfully mid florida gets hit relatively frequently, so its less of a dire situation. but I'm pretty sure that it was THE last tour they hit florida before they disbanded. My band went on to open for thrash gods Havok 4 days later all of it was a blur. one of the best weeks of my life.

cool, you mention the band Prong: so underrated but i think i can give a lot of credits about them.
i remember on 1994. i listened the song called "No question" by prong. I was impressed of those pinch harmonics. i remember i thought. What the hell this guy is doing? How we can do that? They inspire me to do the first picking harmonics on the guitar.

Fear factory is another big one for me. They definitely have a lot of songs I’d consider groove

Sepultura is still the best Groove/Death metal band in my opinion. What they did in Chaos AD and Roots is something no other band ever did in the history of metal.

Missed chance at the end to put the massively under known band Byzantine from West Virginia, those guys are around since 2004 doing a weird mix of groove metal with elements of prog and thrash and sometimes death metal. They are, for me, one of the greatest examples of modern groove metal.

    Man!
I was waiting for you to mention Annihilator.
They're such an underrated band. Jeff Waters is a riff monster, his riffs have soooo much groove man dude. COME ON!

Grip Inc was criminally underrated. I've listened to them since 1995, but of all the people I know into metal, I've only run into one other person who ever heard of them. All their albums were great, but my favorite is the power of inner strength. That one is a banger all the way through. One of my favorite bands ever, along with Pro-Pain and Obituary
