    Nice first impression. Did you happen to ask the Reps from Honda the purpose of relocating the horn and indicator buttons? It is opposite from from most bikes.
    Here in the states half of the car drivers are texting while driving so in traffic I ride with my thumb covering the horn button. Having the horn on the bottom makes that much more natural and comfortable.

    How does the engine and acceleration compare with bikes like the MT-07/SV650 and the MT-09/GSX-S750?

    • @MakTheSank
      @MakTheSank 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Maybe a bit faster than the mt07 but so much heavier and more expensive. The MT09 has less weight than the cb650r and at least 20 more horsepower for just 1k more. It is really a no brainer. The Honda looks amazing and unique for sure, but having ridden the old 650 model, with the very simillar engine, is really boring compared to the 3 cylinder crossplane Yamaha. Get the XSR 900 if you want retro looks. But if you are in a tight budget and you looking for the MT07 it will be a hard battle. Less horsepower, but that two cylinder on the MT saves some cost on fuel and services.
      Maybe i am a bit biased since i own the MT09 SP , but its fantastic, Ultra light and flickable in town, very fun on corners, and i even toured 3.000km with it, and planning on doing it again this summer. Seriously Yamaha is one of the few Japanese manufacturers that made new engines, instead of "redisigning" old ones. (gsx-s 1000/honda cb1000 took engines from 2005-2008).

    • @MakTheSank
      @MakTheSank 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But this bike for sure seems better than the old CB650 F/R. Upside down forks and a bit more power in the engine plus new screen with gear indicator. Really an improvement, just not enough in my opinion.

      Of course numbers dont tell the real story. Bought a Honda CB500f for my 2nd bike because it was the most horsepower in the A2 license class. Big mistake. Heavy soulless machine. So glad i switched to the MT-09. My father owns a S1000R which is way faster and more technically advanced but its really not my cup of tea. I'm divided between this and a Guzzi V7III for daily commute. What's your input when comparing both of them? Obviously not about the specs or riding position, as this is a much more evolved motorcycle and a different style, but on an emotional and man/machine level. I need something fun, interesting, that feels good to ride and with which you can connect instead of just going fast.
    Tried the Guzzi last week and absolutely loved both it's qualities and its defects (which can be categorized as character, for the most part).

      Well in this situation I would probably go for the Honda. I can admit it gets plus points also because it is new model just arriving to showrooms. I think it is brilliant, versatile, very balanced bike, which you can enjoy in small speeds, in commuting but also ride quite fast and sporty when it sometimes comes to play.
      I would go for Guzzi, but in my situation I was riding retro bikes for last 5 years very often (I did 40 000 km on Triumph Scrambler and I own several old Hondas) and now I am looking maybe a bit for something modern.

The only complaint is about the front suspension which are too soft if you want to go a little faster.btw both are great bikes so the choice depends mostly on your personal taste about aesthetics and engine behavior

      That's ufnortunately not true. I spend the whole day with the engineers who designed this bike now in Spain. The CB650R/CBR650R are direct successors of CB650F and CBR650F. For example engine is the same just with a minor tweaks (different intake, slight changes on the ehxaust pipes, slightly increased compression ratio, +1000 RPM etc.). There are changes on almost all parts on the bike, but still it is not a purely new bike.

There are so many nooks and crannies to catch and hold soiling that will be arduous to clean. Otherwise, I do like the overall looks of the machine especially a it's having a flatter seat contour and an actual rear fender.
