      They should make it with a slipon.
      I know sound emissions is a big subject in many countries.
      I know that the underbelly exhaust need to be changed.
      I have a 2021 cb650r and i paired it with a Miiv complete exhaust, but i just wanted more sound, and keep the Euro5 emissions.

    Had a CB125R, CB500F, Cb650R, I need to try the Thou’.
    Great bikes, one of best headlights I reckon, very effective and noticeable when you see it oncoming.
    The CB650R bodywork around radiator held rain water until tipped, was prone to gathering mud and water in the rear storage (2022).
    Very easy beginner bikes, great fun!

    Being an ex owner of an original Honda CB600FS Hornet of 20 years, I think I am qualified to say that the CB650R should be the natural successor to the original Hornet and not a bloody twin cylinder 750. Back in the day, Honda made a CB250RS single. The new 750 should be called an RS and not a Hornet. It's a bloody insult to the Hornets great name in my opinion.
    Great vlog though Kev, although you do sound like someones got you by the goolies......

    One of Honda s best looking bikes, the whole cafe racer line looks great from the 300 to the 1000(black edition)! But, with the new hornet coming in at 8 grand the cb650r seems a bit pricey, plus the hornet has updated electronics. The Hornet still not officially available. I guess you really gotta want a 4. Those exhaust headers are gorgeous! More color options would definitely be nice. Well done video Kevin

      Well, I left out the part where at least in my state of Louisiana, Honda dealers won’t even let you take them out for a test drive. Seems the UK and the rest of Europe doesn’t have a problem. Just walk into a dealership and say “Hey, let me borrow a bike for a test run.” And they fall all over themselves getting it to you with mods and a smile. I love the 650 retro headlight and four banger, and would probably not mind the grand more it costs over the Hornet…..but the 650 has been out a long time and has by comparison to the Hornet, a shitty display.

    I started riding street bikes in 1967 realized I needed "adjustment" (fork springs and oil, rear shocks in 1972). Of 26 street bikes owned at least 20? I think benefited from adjustments and changes. Motorcycles come one size fits all and a best guess profile for roads, riding style and temperatures. Back in the day half the motorcycles were sold in California, which explained a lot if you lived somewhere else.
    One sport bike dialed in perfectly but it was the only"pure" sport bike I owned.
    One with a reworked fork and shock (spring changes) worked fantastically well.
    A couple never could get "right" for me.

    Honda CB650R VS CB750 Hornet... Which would you buy?
    American Honda hasn't released the CB750 Hornet yet so we don't have "official" pricing but around the world, the CB750 comes in at approximately $900 less than the CB650R. So... would you save the $900 and go with a lighter package but lose the four-cylinder engine?
    Personally, I'd go the CB650R based off the engine alone but... I really need to ride the Hornet before I could make that decision, just to see if that twin can change my mind. I don't see that happening but I'd be open to having my mind changed if Honda wants to ship one over to me lol! Curious to hear what you guys think though and the split between the two models...

      If round headlight and I4 engine is a game changer then go for cb650r. On the other hand hornet has more torque, is lighter, rear tire is narrower (drawback for racetrack) resulting in a nimble package. Optional accessories are better with this model making it more universal bike (it is even possible to mount full size side cases from HB). Some people say "why oh, oh why new hornet doesn't have 4 cylinder engine and round headlight like original" Few reasons: emissions, there is such bike in lineup so making another with 100cc bigger engine makes little sense and also main rivals for cb750 are NOT 4 cyl retro styled bikes (mt07, gsx-s8, trident, z650). If you compare this bike to competition and give it a go you may be positively surprised. I am moving from FJR1300 and was looking for some nimble motorcycle to ride around the city and some short trips. After checking all the possible options cb650r looked like a no brainer for me but in the end I have chosen hornet which is more universal, lighter and with up to date electronics. For a second bike for fun cb650r may be still a better option.

      @@m4ci3j88 I get your point, and I'm far from typeing whitch bike is better. Just wat to say that honda made wrong decision with name of their bikes. Cb650r is natural evolution from previous hornet bikes , and that is how it should be named. New Hornet is nothing like previous Hornets, and it shoul be named CB.

    I had a 2017 cb650f which is practically the same bike and the bike is great except for 1 glaring fault - a humongous hole in the middle of the torque curve. The motor actually has decent stomp right at the bottom (2-5k rpm) for punting around town, and she absolutely screams from 8.5k rpm to the redline, but when you whack open the throttle anywhere in the midrange, you better have plenty of patience because feels like it takes forever to climb back to it's happy place above 8.5k.
    I ended up wishing I'd got an MT07 instead - we've all read about the instant grunt through the mid range on that cp2 motor.

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strange, I've heard about that dip in the torque curve on the R versions but not on the 650F. I have a 2018 cb650f since new and do not have a dip in torque in the mid range, or anywhere. For the last year I've had a Booster plug installed, along with a K&N air filter. That enhanced the performance and throttle response.

    Nice vid as always. Firstly Honda needs to realize that for $600 dollars more. Consumers can buy a street triple r which has more hp, same linear torque curve, low end and somewhat top end, steel braided brake lines, a better display, brembos front and rear, a IMU, the USB charger they took out. I love Honda but being the only 4 cylinder in their class isn’t enough anymore, it barely was then. They’re a great company that makes ok bikes that can easily be great to phenomenal bikes. They feel very Harley Davidson these days. Playing everything so safe that even when everyone else is doing it, it still feels risky to them.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      lol you nailed it there, if they're going to give us only one - it better be one of the best! I do like the blacked out version though, the "mini-me" of the CB1000R Black Edition but... that can grow old pretty quick and the way this matte gray metallic looks so different depending on the lighting, it'd be hard to get tired of looking at it. I would like to see them sprinkle some more of that paint on the rest of the bike though to see how it would look in place of some of the contrasting colors they use on this platform.
      Sadly, American Honda has yet to make it "official" for the Hornet. It's going to be interesting to see what the Hornet does to the CB650R sales, being cheaper and bringing more to the table - minus a couple of cylinders of course. I'm on the fence when it comes to looks between the two, from some angles I think the Hornet looks better but it's vice versa from some other angles. I really want to ride that thing though to see if that engine in that package sways me away from my love for a four-banger and the sound of it at full tilt as normally I would sacrifice a lot - just for the sound. American Honda needs to hurry up though, I wanna ride this thing... like yesterday lol!

    I have the need to buy a Honda CB650R before Honda stop manufacturing 4 cylinder motorbikes.
    I am lucky that I live in Thailand where they are manufactured and available in all colours.
    The CB650R is cheaper than the Honda CB750 Hornet in Thailand. On paper the Hornet makes more sense but one has to have to have the CB650R for the smooth 4 cylinders.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yessir, as the years go by - it's clear as day that our four-cylinders are on the chopping block. Sadly...
      Ahhh, you are one of the lucky ones lol! It blows my mind how we only end up with one color on sooooo many different models that have multiple options overseas. Our sales here in the US can't be that slow to where they're like "yeah, these guys don't buy this bike so we'll only give them one color" when compared against the rest of the world. Another one of the million reasons I'd love to be a fly on the wall for these discussions or sit down with the people pulling the strings and learn more about why they do this or that and their logic behind it all. It'd have to be super interesting.
      You hit the nail on the head there bud! On paper, the Hornet is cheaper and makes more sense to most people but... that scream of a four banger and the smoothness, is something that's hard to beat and can't be compared by just spec sheet shopping between the two. It's going to be interesting to see what the CB750 does to CB650R sales over the next year or two, that's for sure...
      Side note, have you always been in Thailand or did you move there etc? It's on my bucket list to go ride there some day and experience not only the scenery but also what looks like a wild 2-wheel scene over from both the modification side of things but also the madness of what looks like 10,000,000 bikes in a city block trying to ride lol.
      Thanks for watching and jumping in the conversation etc to help support all of this John, much appreciated ;)

      @@HondaProKevin I have been going to Thailand for 10 years. I am from the London - UK. I had an office/condo in central Bangkok and the fastest convenient method of transport was on my Honda Wave 125. That is when I went back to riding a motorbike at 49 years old. My first and only motor bike was a Yamaha RD400 (2 stroke) when I was 17. My Thai secretary moved back to her village to look after her mother who died of cancer and had to stay to look after her two kids. I decided to build a house in her village and keep buying Honda motorbikes. I bought my secretary a Honda Scoopy 110c, Honda Rebel 500, a Honda Monkey 125. In September 2022 I bought the 2022 Honda CB300R for my secretary's son to use at university and to be able to ride back to see his mum (100 miles) on long weekends. Honda CB300R is considered a big motorbike in Thailand and the Rebel 500 is the biggest motorbike the 5' secretary can ride safely. A CB500X or F is the best selling big bike in Thailand. A Honda CB650R and CBR650R are like "super bikes" in Thailand. A Honda CB650R or a Kawasaki Z900RS retro will probably be my next purchase. Honda have 72% of the Thai market and nearly all Hondas up to 750cc (including Alpine and Hornet) are manufactured in Thailand for the world market. The really big motorbikes are mainly owned and ridden by westerners living in Thailand. Royal Enfield now has an assembly plant in Thailand. Ducati, BMW, Triumph and HD all have factories in Thailand. 80% of Thai families own at least one motorbike (they are more like an SUV here). You definitely need to make a long vacation to Thailand. Great roads and weather for riding a motorbike and great food and women. You can hire a Honda 125cc for 200 baht ( US$6 ) per day.

      Yeah buddy, I'm with you there! I'm genuinely surprised we haven't seen that happen yet with ALL of the other CB-F models making the transition to the CB-R with the Neo Sports Cafe styling. Unless their goal is to keep the CB500F and CB750 Hornet looking somewhat similar to each other with that naked bike styling and leave the Neo Sports Cafe styling for the others so you've got two different "styles" of naked motorcycles to offer up at the end of the day. Which kinda makes sense as not everyone prefers one specific style but still, I'd like to see a CB500R with this styling lol!

    IMO Honda did its middleweight backwards. They should have made a 4-cylinder 750-900cc and a 2-cylinder 650-700cc. Should have been a CB650R (naked), CB750 Hornet (naked) and CBR750 with fairing (maybe call it an Interceptor, but not as fat as the old Interceptor), maybe a CBR650R (faired) as well. All of them should have been very street oriented, the only difference between naked and faired would be the fairing, no power difference, no drive line difference, and minimal if any ergonomic difference. I know it's too late for them to reverse this now, it'll be at least 5, probably 10 years before they could implement my idea even if they wanted.

    It needs ride by wire throttle with up and down quick shifter. That’s the main and only thing I want really. Up shift quick shifter is great but downshift is super handy too and that inline four will sing with an auto blipper. Basically they should just take all of the electronics from the CB750 and put it on the CB650R. Unfortunately the styling updates for 2024 have been a bit of a downgrade in my opinion. The new tail is too sleek, the old one was staunch and strong looking, same with the new headlight, it looks too “flowy” whereas the old one was a strong look. Also why are the new intake vents half silver and half black? It looks dumb. I think the designer was fresh out of uni.

      But then again, finding anything new from Honda nowadays is difficult with all of these empty showrooms everywhere lol! Here's to hoping we see some normalcy soon on that front so the used market will also start to settle and get back to being "normal" instead of all these used bikes priced at what a new one sells for - craziness!

    The CB650R is only available in a restricted learner approved version in New Zealand. What a pity!! I have asked my local dealer about derestriction to regain the full power of 94hp. Dealer wasn't really helpful. If I want to derestrict the bike I'll need to get it done by a 3rd party. (Airbox tubes, ECU flash with a power commander). This will void my warranty. I am finding myself between a rock and a hard place. I am not interested in alternative bikes like the 600cc hyper sport bikes. At my age I only want a more upright riding position, a nice singing 4 cylinder engine, raw power and top speed is at bottom of my list.
