Sardinia is a pretty unfair start compared to the others because of the silver mine special building. Laith's starting area is pretty bad for his strategy. Hills don't have very profitable buildings, which is his whole strat.

I don't know if abducting is the best way to make money with intrigue, I think the old 'fabricate hook'/'golden obligation' is much better, easier too.
you have to pay gold to fabricate hooks. So this limits the strategy. On the other hand, golden obligation alone can be profitable by sending your spymaster fish for existing secrets.
@@dasmole4804 while building its good but afterwards i would go back to more tax. The development you get while building will be max 1 or 2 levels. Thqt means 1 % more tax in this county
the challenge is set up for Laith to lose, its a short term game so his investments dont have much time to bear fruit and the challenge invlves gold at character death rather than total made over a lifetime so investing becomes even worse
For money, Laith's tactic IS the best. It has some shortcomings though. Time. Playing tall has a really long start period. What makes it so good is that your income can be passive after like 3 generations. Then after you build up a few generations, you can focus on other things. My favorite Duchy for this is Cornwall, just because you can have your own culture and if the average devellopment in your counties is high, you can almost speedrun innovations (I played a 1066-1453 game where I conquered all of France, Germany and the Isles by having a comically powerfull army). In one generation, the winning strategy will be one that gives a lot of money quickly. That's not what with high stewardship does.

Always playing as a genius child, especially now that I can just do meet peers every two years and stack a bunch of bonuses. (As of Jan 2024, this is no longer possible, not sure why but I cannot do meet peers on a created character, their children yes, not the first person though. 😭)

The actual best way; especially early game is to turn all your vassels into theocratic vassals. they give 55% of their levies and taxes at full devotion.
