    You have RCA outputs on the mixer, you don't need the 1/4" to RCA adapters. You might also invest in a cheap tripod for your camera.

    You had the perfect item to connect the mixer to the laptop but didn't use it. The USB interface connects the laptop to the mixer using stereo RCA to RCA jacks (white for left channel and red for right). The output on the interface goes into the input on the mixer, then the output on the mixer goes into the input on the interface, then any sound from the mixer or sound from your laptop can both be recorded.

    Just a heads up, a camera stand greatly improves the quality of a video. When you record with one hand it's harder to see what your doing with the other hand coz you have to focus on both recording and setting up the mixer.

    Appreciate you but it's not safe to connect a line level output to a mic input unless the mic input port is designed to support both mic level and line level signals.

    I think if you're plugging into the MIC jack on your laptop you're going to be getting the audio in mono. 2-channel out from mixer gets transformed into 1-channel audio.

    The disadvantage of connecting your mixer to the mic in of the laptop is uta in mono or probably some distorted sounds.. u need something like usb sound card with line-in in it

  • @ClaytonDelaney

    If a PC or laptop doesn't have line-in it won't recognize the mic when you connect it via y-audio cable... You should have mentioned that you need a line-in adapter in that case.

      @ John: Connecting via the RCA "2-Track" connectors on the mixer may introduce latency to the current audio signal, which is bothersome if you're trying to lay down a multi-track recording while monitoring the current and previous tracks through a headphone connected to the laptop. I have a 2x 1/4" mono to 3.5mm stereo adapter enroute in an attempt to resolve the issue by similarly connecting the 1/4" Main Outs on my mixer to the Line In on the laptop. Will update once I try it.

    Hey Dan, I'm having a really tough time with this mixer. I've been trouble shooting for a week now. My setup is I have 2 PCs : One gaming PC and one Streaming/encoding PC for twitch.tv.
    I bought this mixer to connect my gaming PC audio to my other Streaming PC. This mixer will allow my streaming PC to hear everything playing on my gaming PC.
    My problem is that once connected to the mixer, all i hear is loud static. It doesn't even show to be a connected device in the devices and printers section on either PCs. The program that i'm using to run my streaming is called OBS. (studio version). In the audio settings on OBS i have my Line IN as one of my aux audio devices, so that should pick up my gaming PC audio, but all that it is picking up is what sounds like static. I DONT have a static remover connected to the mixer because i thought that it would only be necessary for low amounts of static in the audio. I don't know if NOT having a static remover will make my audio completely distorted, or if the static remover is designed to help treat already comprehensible audio signals.
    My connections are as follows:
    Gaming PC Line out to LINE IN on the mixer. (RCA to 1/4" connection)
    LINE OUT on mixer to my Streaming PC LINE IN. (RCA to 1/4" connection)
    These are the correct connections for a dual PC setup, but the audio never gets through. I turned down my levels on my mixer, disabled all sound effects on my LINE IN settings under audio devices manager, but all i'm getting is static sound.
    *Is a Ground loop/Ground eliminator necessary to get any audio in my situation?
    *Is my behinger 502 faulty? The Power light is orange, but no levels are being shown (Green or yellow light indicators)
    *Are my devices not selected properly?
    *Do I need a dedicated sound card for this setup? (currently using motherboard sound interface)
    *On Amazon (place of my purchase) I have read reviews on the power supply being faulty. Would this contribute to my distorted signal?
    I'm a complete audio novice and would appreciate a reply. Please, I really want this to work for my streaming setup on Twitch.tv.
    Thank you!

      I'm at work right now, I'll read your comment thru after work, that'll be in about 10 hours.

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Sorry for the delay on my reply. So if I get this right, it's a normal mixer right? No USB Interface so it connects directly to the streaming PC via LINE IN.
      So, In the sound options Menu, you should be able to set on the streaming PC the Line in as your default recording Device. If you go to further and double click on the Line in settings, you should be able to see 4 Tabs, General, Listen, Levels, and Advanced. Go to level and set it to about 70%. Go to advanced and set the Default Format to 1 Channel, 16bit, 48000hz and disable everything down in exclusive mode. If you have any other tabs there like Equalizer options, I would recommend to disable everything also, like Gain Control or Noise reduction.
      Now, if you're done with that, you should be able to try recording some tracks first. Plug in something that can play music like your phone or an ipod and play it, while recording some tracks in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) or even Audacity and check if it's recording any levels. Be sure to set the Main Slider to 0 (0 doesn't mean mute, but it's a level indicator for decibels). Now, slowly increase the level of the Audio Source and see if there's any output going into the Recording Software. I would recommend plugging into a channel without GAIN and / or compressors.
      If you've recorded audio successfully, there would be no problem then recording from your gaming PC. Be sure to set the main output on your gaming PC to speaker outs, which is usually the Green output at the Back of the PC. I would suggest not turning the Volume on PC to max, but at about 80%.
      General Tip, when recording, make sure the Levels on the mixer peak at 0 Levels so you will get good audio volume.
      I hope this helps, you can get back to me if you have any more problems.

    Hello! First of all - very nice, brief and simple tutorial. I have a quick question: If I buy the analog Behringer XENYX 1002 (little bigger than yours) and the Behringer UCA 222 U-Control (same as yours) and to the mixer stereo inputs I plug in 3 synthensizers, am I going to be able to record them all (as one track obviously) on my Mac in Ableton without any latency?

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you should be able to. You could also buy the QX1002 USB that already has a built in Audio Interface, so you won't have the need to buy a UCA 222 Control anymore.. I have an unboxing of that one on my Channel.

    • @jantrecha2021
      @jantrecha2021 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your answer! I have noticed you made an unboxing video on that one and checked it out. However I saw a video in which the guy said it is only able to record one stereo or 2 mono channels through the USB/audio interface. Not sure if it is the same for Macs (or PCs with better audio cards). I'm a complete newbie at this stuff, so confusion is on daily basis.

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can do it. You have those knobs right? There's a PAN knob or BAL knob so you can choose where to route them - either LEFT or RIGHT Channel, so you create 2 mono channels choosing left as your first channel and right as your 2nd channel. That's 2 channels right there to record.

      The mixer has tape out thru RCA why use adapters and introduce another 1-3db of signal loss in the first place? XD

    • @rogeliolopez2190
      @rogeliolopez2190 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Metal Monkey The advantage to using the adapters is that you can adjust the master volume on the mixer and be able to lower down the gain on the computer to get less noise. The tape outputs would be fine but they don't get affected ( on just about every mixer) by the master volume so you have to use the microphone volume. Now that wouldn't be bad since you can turn up the mic volume but the tape out has a -10'db attenuation so instead of losing 1-3 db of signal with adapters you loose 10 and you can't even adjust the master ( this is again standard for all mixers ). however If your recorder pre amps ( which would be the computers)produced little to no noise this wouldn't be a problem but computer pre amps are GARBAGE and make a lot of noise.

    Hi Dan,
    Thanks for your video. It was quite informative. I have a small question. Right now I have a mixer and want to use my phone output for recording. Is this possible.? I am using a small mixer for a Karaoke setup at home. I am currently outputting my Main Out to my Receiver to hear it in the speaker and want to record simultaneously. Unfortunately I don't have a USB Output in my mixer. What are your suggestions?

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! If I get it correctly, you want to use your phone to record what you input into your mixer? Or do you want to play songs from the phone and record it on a Computer?

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you want to play to 2 outputs - 1. is the Receiver and 2. would be a computer to record. That is possible because some mixers have multiple outputs. You can use the main outputs for the Receiver, and then REC OUT or TAPE OUT to go to the computer. You don't need to have a USB connection / interface to connect it to the computer. just follow this video, you just need a chinch cable to 3.5mm / RCA to 3.5mm. Connect the L and R RCA to the REC OUT / Tape OUT and the 3.5mm into the LINE IN of your computer.

    • @cvprasanthkumar
      @cvprasanthkumar 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I tried googling for a 'chinch cable to 3.5mm' but that seemed to have 2 pins and my mixer has only the phone output which can accommodate just pin. (I am not sure how to explain. Hope you have understood). So I think what I need is a 1/4 to 3.5 mm cable if one such exists.

      Sorry mate, can't help you out here. I have no idea on how you would be able to control a laser projector with a mixing console, unless you are able to control the inputs of the laser with the lines of the mixer - that is - if the inputs are like 1/4 inch sockets, then you can just prolly plug them into each channel on the mixer. But really, that's just a guess.

    I see problem with that set up? So your audio datas get sophisticated through the mixer but ended up going into a laptop soundcard? which mostly are built into the mother board and inferior than desktop? it better to skipped laptop soundcard and go to USB or more room for sound data? problem is programming and instruct the USB and laptop?

      +UnitedPebbles This is just a simple method. Most of the people who are interested in recording will probably buy a mixer and mic and they will skip the audio interface entirely. • @rogeliolopez2190

      Maybe it is if you use a condenser microphone. Now it is a myth that a condenser mic will sound awful in an untreated room. This however is only true if your room isn't too echoey. If your room that you record has as much reverb as an a tunnel road then every bit of it will get picked up. If your room isn't very echoey this wouldn't be a problem.
      It could also be if you are too far away from the Mic and you turned up the gain so you can heard. You will be heard but, so will the reverb in the room( this applies to any type of mic not just condensers).
      Or you also just have a reverb or Hall effect on the mixer. I use a similar behringer Eurodesk mixer ( similar to yours but just bigger) You can choose 2 effects at a time ( there are a lot of effects of course) and control the volume of the effects on every channel. If you want to mute the effects on a channel just turn down the effects volume dial on the channel your microphone is ( for behringer mixers it is usually an orange dial)
      Hope this helped!

    Bought a Fender Acoustasonic 15W Guitar Combo Amp...the guitar Amp says Channel 1 & 2, Input 1 and 2.
    One is made only for XLR and the other for the 1/4 inch jack. It does not say what to use for either Inputs.
    Acoustic/Electric OR Solid body Guitar works in both - via the XLR one (with the Adaptor) and also directly in the
    1/4 inch jack.
    - somehow the JVC 600 ohms Mic., Shure etc. Mic with a 1/4 inch jack, only works via the XLR Adaptor and not Directly with the 1/4 inch jack? Why?
    Guitar works Directly and also when plugged in the XLR via the XLR Adapter?
    The Adaptor is a Male XLR to a Female 1/4 inch Input.

    The 502 isn't even worth considering due mostly to fact they do not provide +48v phantom power. The first Behringer mixer model anybody should even consider is the Q802 and you should just avoid all of the type of nonsense in this video by getting a mixer with USB. Honestly by the time you buy a bunch of cables and adapters you could almost just buy a damned USB model mixer instead.

When I use the "phones" jack on the mixer I can hear my own mic really well but not any sound from the computer. • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cars&Politics do you have all connectors on the uca control connected to the mixer? the output on the uca control go into the 2track in/tape in on the 502 and the 2track out/tape in go into the input of the uca control. make sure the switch is set to ON on the uca control where it says "monitor". Then on the 502 mixer, press the button down that says "2 track / tape to phones" and the other one "main mix to phones" should be up. now, set your windows volume to about 80% and now you can probably hear what windows is putting out. if not, you need to set the behringer uca control as your default audio playback device as well as your default recording device. go to sound settings in windows - usually on the bot right corner of the taskbar - sound icon (looks like a speaker) - right click then recording devices. you should be able to see your behringer uca control there listed as usb audio or something. right click that and make it your default recording device and default communication device. then go to the playback tab. set it also as your default playback device.

    hello! how are you? im thinking to buy exacly this mixer and connect exacly in the way you explained for doing amateur recordings of guitar and voice... but you talk about some noise in the beggining of the video if we connect like that without the other interface? how much is this noise? and can i plug the guitar direct in one of the mixer chanels? thank you for the video :)

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ricardo Neves the noise isn't that much of a deal if you're using a good quality cable. Just make sure you plug it in into the line in rather than mic in and dont use any gain control in software. Yes, you can plug in your guitar directly but it's not advisable. You should get an active direct box for it, if it's an electric guitar you're using.

    • @rjsnows
      @rjsnows 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      and if its an acoustic guitar? why is not advisable? can destroy the device? what is a active direct box? thanks

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ricardo Neves does your acoustic guitar have a built in pre amp? Or is just a passive acoustic guitar?
      Plugging in an electric guitar directly leads you to setting the gain very high and can cause distortion and noise.
      Di boxes are boxes that balance the incoming inputs, like if the signal is too strong, it reduces it a bit, and vice versa. Active and passive DI boxes. DI stands for direct inject

    • @Noelli88
      @Noelli88  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Realtek is the manufacturer of the chip that runs your audio. So it's also basically a Driver. You don't see the External mic as "Condenser Mic" in the sound options, because it's all connected to the Mixer. So, everything you plug into the mixer, will output into a single output, which is usually the motherboard's LINE IN or MIC IN, unless you're using a USB Audio Interface. Plug in your mixer outputs into the LINE IN into your computer.

    • @modir23
      @modir23 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      correct. I have connected the mixer to the laptop. So now my main problem is that the whole thing records my voice and I am able to change the gain/level etc with the mixer but all is recorded with low quality. Basically same quality as the built in mic. any thoughts why that is??

      You won't be able to see the mic directly, it works over the Mixer itself. Have you connected. the Mixer to the PC via usb? You should be able to see it under audio devices and set it as your primary recording device. Then you'll be able to use the Mic via the mixer for recording.

      It is connected to PC via USB, yes. When the TRS cables are in Line Out I get only a MGXU Line In on Recording Devices but I can't use it.
      When I connect the cables to Line Out I get the Microphone to show up as Realtek High Def Mic but I still can't use it. Testing in Discord and in Windows Voice Recognition etc :/
