    I love Zinnias, they make nice in home arraignment in a vase to enjoy, they last awhile on the kitchen table. Waving from VA 🙂

    I’m 22 days away from being able to focus 100% on growing my flower business. I’m planting daffodils today; snaps and stock are in the ground already. Sunflower and celosia seeds are currently stored in the freezer.
    This video could not have been more timely.
    My anxieties are about not knowing enough and making costly mistakes. Thank you for the gentle reminder that my heart being in the right place means more than immediate success. I’m grateful for the lessons I have yet to learn.
    ❤️
    And how awesome that your little one is being mentored by her momma.

    My favorite arrangement from my garden was the first one I picked this year. I had some beautiful dahlias that were pink with a darker edge, almost purple, and I arranged them with stalks from my Origano lavender plant and my purple basil. Stunning!

    I dream of having an area for cut flowers one day. Right now we are trying to build up our garden for food to be more sustainable so we are not to the point of having an area for cut flowers yet. Love seeing your flowers and advice!

      Sprinkle flowers amongst your veggies. They’ll draw in the pollinators and add beauty to your garden… it’s the best of both worlds.

    You’ve inspired me to grow zinnias this year, and they are so beautiful! I hate the thought of cutting them, bc they look so pretty, but I did not know they would just go to seed if I don’t cut them, so tomorrow is the day. Thank you for all of your encouragement and great tips!

    Sometimes I think my kids are way too needy and take too much of my time. How can you do all this with 3 kids. I do homeschool though so that's a big hit. I really need my kids to be understanding. Maybe a video of the kids talking about garden parents. 🤔

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not easy with kids being home. We make sure they have plenty of crafts and activities to keep them busy while I work

    • @Kristin8275

      I also have 3 kids (and am 7 months pregnant with our 4th) and homeschool. I grow a decent amount of our summer produce and lots of cut flowers, though I don’t sell anything- yet 😉. We have a big backyard, but fenced an area behind the house and that’s where I keep most of my annuals. The fence really helps contain the kids. Also turning on the sprinkler or setting out the baby pool, using outdoor toys (especially a bubble machine for my 2 year old). Another thing is breaking it down into smaller work periods, like a few minutes whenever you can get them in throughout the day. And I have had to learn to accept imperfections when working with kids. We’re a couple years in to more intensive home gardening and my kids mostly enjoy it. They have their own little garden plots and I make sure to include fruits and veggies they live in my area and to let them eat freely from them while they play. It’s far from perfect, but the satisfaction I get from seeing them run barefoot through the garden with a mouthful of kale is worth it. Good luck!

    Do you succession sow zinnias since they are cut and come again? I'm thinking no.

    How large is your sunflower area? Im trying to get into the hang of rotation planting with sunflowers but im feeling like I’m running out of room.
    Do you have a week gap between harvesting?

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We start seeds every week. We are currently growing on a 20'x40' area spacing about 6" apart

    I don’t understand when you talk about knowing the market. Who exactly buys cut flowers and for what reason? I would like to get more into this if possible.

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flower shops, restaurants, hotels, small grocery chains, doctors offices, and lots of businesses with waiting rooms etc all buy flowers. A quick Google search of your town will give you lots of potential customers
