Oh Jill, your children are sooooooo lucky to have a mother and father who see it how you do. You are a shining example of how I would be as a mother if I could be. I just love who you are growing into. I've watched you since the beginning, pregnant with Ivy June.....sitting in your greenhouse planting seeds. . . . . . . . . and NOW....here you are........ GOD BLESS YOU! You are my biggest inspiration and I thank you for sharing your life with all of us.
Jill, I remember when you said you couldn't cook a thing .. which, we know you could cook but, look at you now. You have grown so much in the kitchen. I love this
@@WhisperingWillowFarm Cooking is my calling. I have Bipolar Kitchen on Instagram. Working on that now. You inspire me everyday. I'm so glad you love to cook now. It is so much fun.
Your are offering the best for those girls , don’t listen to the negative noise ❤ they will talk about all of these amazing experiences you are sharing with them for the rest of their lives 🥰
Just started making homemade marshmallows and they are to die for!! Also my son got his first deer this weekend and we had venison for dinner last night and it brought me to tears because it reminded me so much of my grandma making venison and mashed potatoes when i was a kid! Your girls will do the same i have no doubt!❤
I had the same experience with my grandparents and I still pass it down with my children and grandchildren. I believe that this is so important especially in the times we are living in.
I was overwhelmed this week. My husband is a farmer and has been gone most evenings over the past month. The minute I get off work, I run here, there, and everywhere. At 7pm, I finally get to make supper for my family. While making supper, I thought to myself how easy it would've been to just pick up fast-food. Nutrition is very important to us, so I will continue cooking for my family, even in the hard seasons, because convenience is killing all of us.
I told my best friend I had decided no more gifts but, experiences instead. Birthday, Christmas..etc. When my best friends daughter was at my house today and wanted something to drink she had the Blackberry Cider and when she realized it was the same Cider we picked out when my husband and I took her and her sister to Huber's Farm for Pumpkins her little face lit up and she was so excited. She started recalling the experience of everyone picking out there item they were going to get. That drink brought back the MEMORY of the day we spent together. That is the gift I told them I will be giving them from now on.. THE EXPERIENCE!
Loved your video so much! I made cranberry walnut cookies for my son’s scout ceremony this evening-they were delicious, but next time I’m going to bake WITH him. It may take longer and require more patience, but it’ll be worth it. 💗
Great video Jill! I taught my son and daughter how to cook when they were young. When I think back to all the messes in the kitchen, I just smile. We have a lot of great memories. They cook better than me now.
It is so refreshing to hear this. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Yes, it is so important to spend time with our children in the kitchen/home. Teaching them about God and Jesus and loving each other. The world is full of people who are missing out big time. God bless you and your precious family....Sherri-Idaho
how in the heck can anyone look and be that fit after having a baby. You are rocking this motherhood thing. I have been playing xmas tunes non stop for a week and we are not even in November yet. lol anddddd I have up one of my two trees. Cant help it love the season although I also love the fall, the best of both seasons.
I agree with you. For our family convenience has a time and place and it’s few and far between. When mama is burnt out or not feeling good I give myself grace and buy a few convenience food items to just get through whatever I’m going through. This happened this week and it saved my mental energy. But it also taught me that I need to get back into making freezer meals and having things like muffins in the freezer. Because man that stuff is expensive let alone not nourishing to your body well.
Amen! My goodness, I felt this deep within my soul. Thank you so much. Those core memories are the simple, intentional moments and they mean everything. ❤
Enjoyed this episode, so true, glad you are doing this and sharing it with us. We are all about getting it quickly. I ordered your book and can’t wait for it to come, I’m old school and like the printed copy. I enjoy baking and for some reason it just tastes so much better homemade. You are doing a wonderful job!!! ❤❤❤ You are teaching your girls a great skill. 😊
Oh preacher girl you’re so right no time for family no time for nothing! So precious time with your girls ! Hears a gift idea for your girl Buy them Little House on the Prairie book an apron and the cookbook they have a cookbook that’s a little house and a Little House on the Prairie dress and bonnet . My girls loved it for Christmas last year!
your mini me is going to be taller than momma me thinks. You are an amazing role model and teacher for your offspring. Blessings. I also do a detox once a month. I am a firm believer in the gut microbiome and keeping it fit as it has literally saved me from the door of illness in so very many ways and years.
I think its also really important to realize not everyone lives in an area where owning a home and being able to stay home is a remote possibility. Where I am in Canada small homes with zero land are well over a million dollars, the average person my age will never own a home, we can barely scrape by with a couple working 40hours a week at a well paying job - I WISH I had the time and space to enjoy life and make things from scratch, but If i want food on my table and a roof over my head I get home, eat, sleep and work just to make rent. I don't know anyone my age who ever sees themselves having kids not because they don't wan't them, but because it is financially impossible.
Very true! We also live 30 minutes from the nearest city to be able to afford our home with land. Sometimes you have to get away from the cities to find what you want
@@WhisperingWillowFarm Unfortunatley there isnt anywhere in my entire province with prices under 600k unless you have the privilege of working remotely with no nearby schools, public services, good hospitals (not an option since I am chronically ill) etc. There are also no areas with jobs that have affordable housing. 30 minutes from a city, houses are still in the millions. Land basically doesn't exist at those distances either, just a very different situation. Y'all are very very lucky. I HATE the city, if i could get away without losing my job and starving to death, I totally would. America is an affordable paradise compared to Canada these days, wish I could join ya, but it never is that simple.
All blessings to you Nathan and Jill for raising your kids right! Your girls will know what it is to be a great mom and what to look for and see in a future husband. Good job my friends in Christ!
You are so right, God bless you and your family. I watch you all the time, such a great person, teacher, mom,and wife you are. Keep doing what your doing it's so refreshing to watch your videos❤
My momma passed in March of this year. It’s getting hard with holidays coming up. So many memories around the holidays . To much fancy stuff nowadays. Memories is what counts !
Great video! You're making such wonderful memories with the girls. The marshmallows must turn out great by watching the girls' facial expressions when they tried it.
Youre an AHHHMAZING MOM, JILLIE GIRL!!! MAKING AND GROWING MEMORIES, YESSSS!! I can still see my daughter at 2 years old, standing on a chair, 'helping' in the kitchen. She would always giggle when I told her to always measure everything very carefully, then I would proceed to shut my eyes and sprinkle stuff into the bowl. She is 50, now, and is still a wonderful cook, enjoying experimenting with various country's cuisines. She's not afraid to try any and all spices and herbs, and 'strange' ingredients. Her friends love being her guinea pigs, with her latest dish experiments. Her son has also picked up her foodie loves, and is getting to be quite a good Chef, at just 20 years old. You are helping build generational skills and memories!! ❤❤🥰🥰😘😘🙏🙏 P.S. Ziggy is growing so, and it wont be long til he's finding his place in the kitchen!! LOVE Y'ALL!!!
You’re a fantastic momma! My mom never let me “help” because she hated messes….I learned to cook after I got married….my poor husband…He loves my cooking now…..where there’s a will, there’s a way!❤❤❤
I feel the exact same way, I make 80% of my food from scratch for my family. It’s hard for me to talk about this topic with family members because everyone has an excuse why they can’t make healthier choices. Btw I also see I’m not the only preparing for the holidays, I made gingerbread men cookie dough and froze it ❤
Preach it Jill! I've been taking small steps here and there to cut out the junk and learn to make these things myself. I've stopped buying the cookies, boxed junk, etc. and have been making my own. It all started with Jess' video on growing in a bag of soil a few years back. Gardening got me into cooking more and learning about food and wanting to do better. Then I got into making my own yeast bread. Last year I made my own sourdough starter and have been making sourdough bread more this year. I mostly buy ingredients from the store now instead of convenience like I used to and make things myself. I haven't had marshmallows in years because of the terrible ingredients in them. I've always wanted to make my own. Maybe I will before the end of the year? Thank you for sharing. God bless you guys.
Absolutely! I was recently talking to a friend about making homemade biscuits and gravy. She buys premade biscuits and gravy packets. I said when I moved out of the house to go to college and was on my own I bought those things too. I noticed the food just didn’t taste the same. Then it clicked with me that I KNOW how to make homemade gravy and just easily enough biscuits too. (Thanks mom!) Now with my daughters I know that it’s important to show them the process and as adults they can chose whether they buy premade or use the skills they were taught to make their own. Also we have all the ingredients in the house to make those things. It’s not even something you need to waste time running to the store for. ❤this video!
A lot of those convenience things can actually be made from scratch. I make instant hot cocoa mix from basic ingredients. I plan on premixing baking mixes and vacuum sealing them. The key is balance. My son is going to help me assemble them. The point is spending those times with loved ones.
We dont do Halloween either. We have way too much fun with xmas. 6 of our children are girls and they love to bake so it can get crazy pretty quickly. 4 of them can bake on their own. We just might be able to crank out more goodies than ever 😳 I might need to walk some extra laps this season but its worth it 🥰
Watching you do all those things with your children makes me wish I did things so differently than I did. My children are all grown. My “baby” is 30 now. I have definitely been striving to make so many more things from scratch because I know it’s so much better for us. Things are crazy right now because we just bought a house and we are in the process of moving and selling our old home. Sometimes Ive had to eat other things that I’d prefer not to. I’ll be so glad when the moving is all over. So glad you can enjoy that time with your children!!
I would love to get the book but like all ways by the time I will have the money to get the printed version of the book it will no longer be available to buy 😭
Loved this video! Question! For your bone broth hot cocoa, are you making your own bone broth? That part intimidates me, but I'm pretty sure store bought bone broth has additives unneeeded for the nutritious version of hot cocoa. 😂

Are you grinding your coffee too fine? I usually overgrind the beans and end up with grounds in the end, but my husband is good at getting the courser grind and we don't get as much grit when he makes it lol
