    Thank you. This was soooo helpful. I have a Makins extuder and purchased a heart disc from Etsy only to discover it is too large to fit my Makins. You have done the research I will now base my purchase on. I was all over the place trying to figure this out. Keep up the good work. I also viewed your video on Soap Math. That too was easy to understand and helpful. Bravo!

      Glad this was helpful for you! The disc sizes can definitely be confusing! Thanks so much for watching!

    Thank you for sharing this information. My question is (your addendum answered part of my question 🤣) but I would still like to see the different sizes the extruder shapes are in a bar of soap.

      It really depends on the discs/disc set. The 18/23 if it's just a single shape generally the size of a dime/nickel...but if you're building something it's going to vary. I try and show a bar soap with the design on all my listings so the size is there.

    Thank you! I have the I Dream in Soap extruder. Just got a 3D printer, and wanted to make a smaller one. NONE of them list the size of the disk on Amazon. I thought it was 18 mm, and now I understand why/how the 24 mm comes in to play. Side note: the jerky extruder link takes you to the sold out Fimo. :)

      Ahhh yeah I might have linked the wrong one. I can check. The Fimo is sold out every where now and I don't think is being made anymore!

    What can i do? I am finding it difficult to locate the Walnut Hollow adapter. for the Makins. It is said they are no longer making the 2 piece adjustment. Being that I purchased a heart disc measuring 24mm. Can you suggest any device that will accommodate a disc this size? Am i out of luck? Thanks again for all your help.

    • @TheSoapArtist
      @TheSoapArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the Adaptor piece hasn't been available in forever and I'm doubting they're going to make it again. I have made an adaptor disc for the Jerky Gun that you can put the 24mm pieces in. I haven't listed them yet, because I'm not 100% in love with how they work. They don't work well for small openings/designs and you can't fill the jerky gun with soap you need to just put maybe a quarter or less of soap in the gun otherwise I find it becomes too much pressure to extrude. I thin the adaptor piece would work ok with the heart it's a simple opening. I don't have it listed, but you can email me if you're interested in it and I can create a custom invoice for you.

    Thanks for the great info. The link for the jerky gun is going to the Fimo Amazon page. Do you have the jerky gun link?

    • @TheSoapArtist
      @TheSoapArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can search and any jerky gun should work. Here’s the one I have: www.amazon.com/WILDDIGIT-Professional-Stainless-Shooter-Cleaning/dp/B096X2XRSB/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=Q20GI56DE4FE&keywords=jerky+gun&qid=1647735310&sprefix=jerky+gun%2Caps%2C74&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE4VE1ENENMR0NBRkomZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAxNDIzNjZLRDE0TDQwODNJMTAmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDMyMjcxMzJXMksxNlBCM1FMMFomd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== (I’ll fix the link. Didn’t realize it was going to the wrong one).

      You're welcome! And yeah I haven't been able to find a Fimo one in ages. The extender piece for the Makin works pretty well, but the makin tube is still smaller so you do have to refill more often!

    Thank you for your video, I am going to try making embeds with the extruder. I ordered some discs. When I click on your link for the jerky gun, it takes you to the smaller one that is sold out. Could you please give me the link or the exact brand you bought so I can get one that works well. It’s Prime Day so I was going to try to get it ordered. Thank you again for your inspiration!😊

      This is the Makin that holds 18mm Discswww.amazon.com/Makins-USA-35055-Professional-Ultimate/dp/B0018BOXWQ/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1L3PQTRKGMMP5&keywords=makin+extruder&qid=1689030562&sprefix=makin+extruder%2Caps%2C96&sr=8-3
      The adaptor piece that goes ON THE MAKIN extruder. That will hold the 24mm discs.www.etsy.com/listing/1361027691/extruder-enlarger-for-24mm-discs?click_key=8e965fc8c657709fe6b3c41d5baf6f98d54b81bc%3A1361027691&click_sum=ea23cdfd&external_collection=&frs=1&sts=1
      The large 57mm discs need a clay extruder or a jerky gun. You can search Jerky Gun on Amazon and a slew of options will come up. This is the one I recommend: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MQBZZLZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

      HI! You use soap dough with the extruder tools. I have a video on Soap Dough on my channel that talks about soap dough and how to make it if you're interested.

      There are so many suppliers and they're always changing. If you search Makin Extruder you'll find a lot of extruders will come up. The name brand Makin is around $25. You can buy knock offs from $8 and up. I find they all generally work. Both of these are Jerky Guns I like best that hold 57mm disc: www.amazon.com/dp/B08CQ2T15M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details or www.amazon.com/dp/B07MQBZZLZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

    Is this the makin 35055?

    • @TheSoapArtist
      @TheSoapArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a Makin (green). Not sure of the number. There is a heavy duty Makin extruder, but this one is just the $24 one (there are knock offs for cheaper).

    Thank you, that was helpful, especially the addendum, where you show the disks. I want to try to make some myself. What type of plastic would you recommend for that? I tried a transparent acrylic material but it seems to be too brittle.

    • @TheSoapArtist
      @TheSoapArtist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use PLA. I can't comment on other materials as I've never used them, but the PLA works well and is pretty durable. :D

      @@TheSoapArtist Thank you very much, I will try that! I'm sorry, I didn't see your answer earlier. I like how much care you put into details.
