Troubleshooting Ender 3v2 Print Quality: Common Issues and How to Fix Them

First, I tried changing the filament, but that didn't help. Then, I swapped the nozzle in case of a clog, but still no improvement. Finally, I decided to upgrade to a new aluminum extruder kit with a new extruder gear, and voila! My print quality was back to normal.

Another good thing to check is the tip of your PTFE tube, where it meets the nozzle/heatbrake. I got similar signs of underextrusion, took the tube out and it was clearly deformed. Chopped it straight with a razor and the issue was resolved
I never thought to check the extruder gear, one of my enders has had some mild underextrusion issues lately, going to check that after work! Thanks.

@@PrintPractical make sure to insert it while the heat block is heated up otherwise you will have a gap between the end of the tube and the insides of the nozzle. It makes it prone to small clogs/unclogs that show up as big dimples in the print.

This might be the problem I'm having with under extrusion, I first made the screw more tighter for the spring on the extruder motor and it seemed to work for a little while. Then I ran into an issue with under extrusion, again, which the issues look similar to what you are having with print quality.
I additionally have issue with my warped bed and I plan to install the latest version of Marlin to go with Manual Mesh Bed Leveling. I don't want to spend any more than I need to, so an auto leveler like a BLTouch would be later down the line for my purchases. Installing new firmware is rather new to me and I did see your video on it, though I'm still left with confusion in some areas despite how through you were with your video. For the most part, where I have confusion, mostly resides in the areas where you have glossed over certain details as you may of thought it was common knowledge on how to obtain certain information about the 3D printer.
Since I yet to go through with compiling and installing the firmware, I think I just have to go through the process to single out where I may lack information on how to complete the task.

Love seeing a real fix with a definitive root cause. I’m surprised the filament wears a brass gear like that…. Or was it slipping for a long time due to the cracked lever?

Yeah, I think the gear wore do to lack of pressure, it’s been slowly slipping worse and worse overtime. I’ve been printing with this crappy quality for a little while on this printer, but finally had to dig in and find out why.
