So to explain the first leak its not that a team member that made the game the one that sold the game, it was someone that broke the embargo of the truck with copies of the game and sold it off in ebay.

@@ChicagoReacts it was more than likely a store which has stock of the hard copy, ready for release. Needless to say game stores need to stock up on games before they are released so that they have the stock ready.
The Award they won right after Release was for Technical Inovation. The whole game was basicly a Full Galaxy in 9 Gigabytes. Everything was Generated in Realtime. Nothing like this has ever been done before.
It really is amazing. I decided to reinstall the game after not having played for years, and was expecting to spend the next several hours waiting for all the new updates to download. Nope, it only took 13 minutes. It’s insane.
@rival Thoughts same just finished a 100 hour permadeath run where I basically blitzed all the achievements. And then decided to start over in normal mode for a more relaxing version.
Amazing how much it improved since the last time I picked it up, which was when this video originally dropped, not to mention since day 1.
Yeah. Although the game wasn't finish, the base of the game, the randomly generated everything was done and working. Although it didn't have too many details to work with that time, little differences.
Sky owns the rights to EVERYTHING that uses the word sky in any form of digital media, pretty much. Its insane.

it kept getting updated even after that internet historian video, it received like 10 more large free updates on top of the ones internet historian described, in fact the latest one dropped TODAY, with a new type of starship, corrupted planets, improvements to the virtual reality version (which is free with the base game), new enemies, new technologies, sentinel capital ships to fight huge ships and more... The game doesn't have anything you can purchase to support the developpers aside from the base game, all of these updates keep on comming for free

@@ChicagoReacts Not just 10 more, but 17 new big updates after the ones on this video! Even more if you count some of the smaller ones. The last big update, "interceptor", came out a few days ago.
Back in 2020 No Man's Sky won the award for "Best Ongoing Game" at the Game Awards, basically the video game equivalent of the Oscars. I remember this specifically because Sean was so much expecting not to win that he was mid drink of his soda when they announced the winner and he almost choked when he heard it.
The "kid" in the erotic fanfic recreation is Pyrocynical, a big youtuber, and don't worry, he may look like it, but he's not a kid.
more reactions to internet historian? yes please. The engoodening of no mans sky is one of his best ones, along with the fall of 76 and cost of concordia IMO.

My man, have you *been* on the internet? People will send you death threats just for *existing* in a space they don't want you to be. For some people, the ability to anonymously direct vitriol and hatred is like 90% of the appeal for being on the internet in the first place.
Anonymity is also a necessity to not get cancelled for just having a normal opinion by a twitter or reddit hate mob that will call your boss and get you fired via harassment campaigns.
To further display Hello Games' devotion to NMS, a new update was released TODAY.
Timely that this reaction is posted on the same day as the No Man's Sky: Interceptor expansion trailer.
For reference, the last expansion in this video was Synthesis, which was the 8th one. Interceptor is number 24 (if I'm doing my math right).
The person in the fan fiction at the end is Pyrocynical, another famous youtuber that’s been in one or two of IHs videos. He is a full grown adult, but he often points out and laughs at the fact that he still looks like he’s 16
And just to add to this. Since this video Hello Games and No Man's Sky have released for FREE an additional 16 major updates to the game. Many are full expansion pack levels of content.
No Man's Sky just released a new update today.
IH said that some STORES broke embargo and sold the game early to someone who then put it up on ebay for a large sum. Nothing insidious there, just someone wanting to make a quick buck and crap stores that break embargo all the time not just for this game.
to put any awkwardness to rest, the person used as a stand in for the reader in the fan fiction section of the video is very much an adult and also a colleague of Internet Historian. He used to do a lot of commentary videos on crazy stuff happening online but now I think he's gone into streaming and video essays. Funny guy, name's Pyrocynical.
As far is the innovation award they won, while yes the game was terrible, the procedural generation applied to the game to create billions upon billions of planets was actually very innovative for the time

The "child" image that was used for the interviewer in the fanfiction is Pyrocynical, he is a content creator, he is not a child but the fact that so many people who react to this video think so is kind of hilarious in its own right.

Hell just last week they released a major content update… “interceptor” adding a new hostile enemy, biome, ship, jet pack, elements and so on, and they don’t plan on stopping
The reason they got the Innovation Award is because the core gameplay was still something very new and impressive at the time, and was done by a super small team. The 'game breaking' bugs were fixed pretty quickly. Within the first week. So once the game was actually playing properly, people were able to see the huge potential in the game. It just had nothing to do. It still is a very impressive game engine even 7 years later. No other developers that I'm aware of have been able to recreate a procedural game engine on the same scale as Hello Games.

They kept the day/night cycles. They got rid of the orbiting aspect though. And as cool as it is. If it's confusing players, probably best to not have it. Maybe they could of kept it as an optional feature or something.

this game is wayyyyyyyy much better that by the time that video was posted! They launch a major update every 3 to 5 weeks FOR FREE! The last one was launched about 2 months ago and the one before that, was lauched in april this year, and the one before in december 2022 I guess. Now the game has so much more things that what was firstly promissed and is available in pretty much any platform including mac, windows, linux (I guess), nintendo switch, playstation 4 and 5, xbox, and others. I've ordered it on pre-sale, I watched every Sean's interviews by the time they were posted, I've been following them since before release and I still follow them on twitter to be aware of the next updates by the time they launches them. It's the best game for PSVR2 by far (see for yourself, make a simple youtube search)
They have released another trailer for a major patch 10 hours ago and the comments are filled with excited people so they seem to be still going at it in 2023

Things like this can, and often DO arrive at stores a week or more in advance
Usually with stickers and tape saying not to put it out for sale until [specified date] and it is incumbent on the stores, and their employees to keep it in the back, or if important enough, lock it up until the time is right
So it could have EASILY have been some random minimum wage employee grabbing a copy from the back room and selling it to a reporter, or more likely, themselves and THEN to a reporter marked up a few 1000%
NMS still gets FREE major updates to this very day, it's an amazing display of what can be achieved when you don't give up & do the right thing.
Edit-Yes you are 100% correct it is just a f******** video game, threats and such are unacceptable & this is coming from someone that has gamed all my life & is my absolute favourite hobby.

I was SO hyped early doors, but the second the Sony deal was announced I knew it was all over. The fact they've gone and mostly fixed it after the fact is proof that the pressure from Sony did what I expected. I guess they needed the money, but there was an inevitability to it, I never pre-ordered and was maximum smug face on release. Shame really. But it's a great comeback story in the end which is always nice - everybody loves a comeback story.
I'm not sure why you thought it was a developer, its a boxed copy of the game, its not like they press and package the games at hello games and someone on the office can just slip one in their backpack and sneak it out.

Okay you need to slow down your opinion like there's maybe 4 different times in this video you Changed your opinion like just reserve judgement till the end of the video or are you too busy trying to please everyone? Have your own opinion but don't make up how you feel especially since you didn't even know this existed till literally watching this video
Regarding No Man's Sky, I never got the praise. I played it for 300 hours, after most recent updates as well. What the game has is *content* but it is completely disjointed and doesn't flow together at all. The game has ended up with multiple, overly shallow gameplay loops that don't mix with one-another at all. It is *not* a nitpick that their updates feel more like ticking boxes than properly designed and implemented systems.
Now, don't let this detract from the fact that they actually sat down and worked like mad on the game, and followed EXCELLENT practices, that's pretty much unique in the industry and they deserve the praise, awards and chances for that. The game on the other hand... yeah, mid at best.
