I'm just happy to see some form of media acknowledging that putting the fate of the world on a single kid's shoulders is going to have some negative consequences.
Aang wasn’t sleeping during the Appa vs Momo fight, he was hallucinating the whole thing 😂 That’s what typically happens when you stay awake for 3 some days with VERY little sleep; you start having day dreams and eventually you trip out and have some crazy hallucinations. I don’t recommend trying it lol
Made it five days with severe help. I wasn't stressed with the fate of the world and the hallucinations started at about 60 hours.
Im shocked his hallucinations even made sense.

I specifically remember being on the couch in the middle of the afternoon at like 13/14 years old, moms in the kitchen
Looked down at the tv, then literally turned my head to look at the kitchen 2 seconds later and suddenly there were like… 5? 5 ephemeral rocket ships no bigger than quarters like, lazily circling all around me. And I actually recognized them too lol it was the SS Dolphin from Pikmin, which is the reason why I was awake for 3 days to begin with hahaha

Appa and Momo have the same voice actor! English + animal sounds, so impressive!!! He also voices other characters in the show but some are spoilers so I won't list out the others. :)
There are no characters he does in that they haven't seen in ATLA. he does Chong, the singing nomad from S2E2.

The second dream is a reference to Naruto. It’s DBZ and Naruto, the two big shonen giants. The face covering, the headband, the piercings… he looks just like an Akatsuki member, specifically Pain
It’s also possible Appa’s 3 sword is a reference to OP, and the final dream with a single sword is a Bleach reference, but those are iffy at best

this whole episode is an acid trip. one of the few episodes that's "filler" but also feels extremely necessary when you consider a 12 y/o in this situation.
It’s because it’s not filler. It shows Aang panicking about confronting the Fire Lord and Zuko learns critical info from the war meeting. The only true filler episode to me is The Painted Lady. There was no plot, new character development, or world building at all.

Aang's 3rd dream - the dark one - is so so good. It flows exactly like a real dream and totally evokes deep fear. I think it happens so fast, unlike the other dreams & hallucinations, so each image doesn't quite sink in consciously. The reversed role of Aang under the ice and Zuko standing on top of him (Zuko was trapped under the ice momentarily at the North Pole) is perfect dream distortion expressing a deep fear. And then the comet coming in and delivering what is essentially a nuclear blast - something that shows up periodically in the show in various forms (mushroom clouds, Aang's destruction of the Earth Benders' arena while in the Avatar state). Meant to signal terrifying destructive potential.

When it came to the bloodbending (yeah that was last episode, but you guys were recapping it) I was thinking of a technique that was used in Zack Snyder's Justice League where one of the Atlantians used their ability to pull the fluids from the villian INCLUDING BLOOD.

I would improve this episode by not being high on cactus juice like the writers. Zuko’s plot line with Mai and Azula should have been the A plot and Team Avatar the B plot like we had in the Beach episode. Mai is the best because she’s improving to calm him down and she probably waited until the meeting was over because she knew what happened last time. Mai changes her tune in an attempt to help him, and this is one of the few times Zuko actually talks to someone about his duel with Ozai. She’s saddened for him. She’s trying to get him to let things go with reasoned facts. Mai is supporting when she’s in a position she actually can be. Appa and Momo is my least favorite fight because it leaned into *way too much ridiculousness* side. And Aang’s side of the episode could have been cut or at least have some planning because they don’t know that Azula already knew about the invasion thanks to King Kuei telling them last season. The humor was a miss for me. And this is why this episode is my least favorite in the series.
