  • 1 min tip of the day, video series contains small, around 1-min videos where small hacks & tips learned by 35 year experience, are shared with you. This one is about removing in a proper way the bolt that holds the bar weight and the hand guards. This is necessary in order to avoid twisting the inner component which has the threads & in turn avoiding to try to fish that component out or have a difficulty in reinstalling the hand guard back

Using the crash pin (weight?) as a slide hammer is a very good tip. The billet of aluminum on the bar end is just a hand protection piece to protect the throttle & hand if you go down when the bike goes down on it's side.

Thanks Dr V Strom. This is a mysterious part design from Suzuki!

Yes and if you completely remove the bolt without pulling as i saw, the rubber metal threaded part remains deep inside and it is easy to shift it when you try to reinstall the bolt. Thanks and Ride safe.

It's almost certainly to make it fast to assemble in the factory. The parts are assembled off the bike, then slid in and tightened to lock in place.

@@DrVstrom this is what happened to me. I have a 2007 650 though and it has a longer screw. I got the rubber and washer out but it wasn't easy!

What are the use for the handlebar weights? I know these can help hold the handguards but why make them so heavy? would it be about the motorcycle dynamic behavior?

    • @DrVstrom

Well certain types of engines have more vibrations than others. If you rode for long time these vibrations on the handlebars are annoying and sometimes move to your hands and your hands get numb. The Motorcycle bar ends or handlebar weights are making this negative effect cancel out or hey help stop the felt vibration.
