    Thanks for the test. An amp like this may put out some substantial numbers but will never put out the dynamics simply due to lack of capacitance. To use an example, it's like a head unit that makes 25w rms per channel (optimistic) vs. an external 25x4 amp. The external amp will have substantially better volume, dynamics and depth due to so much more power supply headroom (despite same rms power) where in the real world you are dealing with harmonics, rather than reproducing a single frequency.

    • @casey360360
      @casey360360 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good luck explaining this to people though. I've even pulled a head unit and a 4 channel apart to show people the difference, head unit didn't have any capacitors on the output circuit, they just scratched their head and still told me I was wrong.

    4:00 Ace ace ace! Been looking for a video coving this for ages! And came across one by Jacob Virol. I’m asking you as you have an amp dyno and could see if my thinking is correct. Ok….here is my question:
    If you have 4x50w amp and you only use 2 of the 4 channels, does this mean you have slightly more power on the used channels given the decreased stress on the power supply??
    The reason I ask is, in AV, they rate the multichannel amps with only 2 channels driven because when all channels are driven the output of each is significantly reduced. So, by contrast, if you only used 2 of 4 channels on a multi channel amp, do you get a bit more power from the amp??
    This is not a question about bridging the amp, just about leaving 2 channels unconnected like when using an AV amp in stereo. If you were to test a 4 channel amp but *without* the dummy loads on the 2 untested channels, would the output for the used channels increase?

    • @wal
      @wal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I believe this is true as it would be less stress/load on the power supply

    Thank you for the retest. While it's interesting to see someone make an unconventional amp I still believe it's not much more than a cheap chip amp. Being able to push bigger power at a higher frequency proves that IMO. Still, I think it's great that you owned up to the mistake and did a retest. BigDWiz FTW!

    I've just recently heard of these. While I have no intention of using one to power a subwoofer, I wonder how it would sound powering a pair of 4ohm 6x9 speakers rated at 90W RMS. The compact size has me very curious, as it would leave plenty or room for airflow and heat dissipation for the sake of longevity.

    I've already used this amplifier, the frequency cut for subwoofer mode has a gain of 15 db at 45 Hz, it creates an absurd bass latency for the rest of the frequencies. I never use it for a subwoofer ever again, in Brazil Soundigital is a brand of excellence and Taramps right behind in terms of quality, Stetsom is known for making affordable products with lower quality.

No wattage dyno but i suppose monitoring the input current will give at least some idea. I also have a hilarious "100 watt" chip type amp that's actually rated 22WRMS per channel due to the chip. So if I understand everything right this would be a good little lamp to run for six and a half speakers in my wife's car.

    I once played my test tone cd with our cat in my room when i was a kid, at 15 kHz she looked very strange with the volume knob at 12 o'clock.

    Not for nothing, but being that this amp is labeled backwards for bridged mode compared to most amps, makes it a bit confusing. Lol. Still though, it should be labeled as 50 × 4 @ 4 ohms instead of overating it. I wouldn't even bother with this amp with all the better choices out there for the price. Great video brother!! 👌

    Wouldn't this amp be more likely used for running your highs than your subs? Probably should have tried this dyno @ 1kh instead of 40h..... Im betting it would have made over rated @ 1kh......

    If only Big D or people like Meade do more dyno test of some seriously powerful 4-6-8 channel amps like the Crunch PD 4000.4, Stetsom HL 2000.4,Taramps st2000.4, Boston Acoustics GT4100, Rockford Fosgate T-1000.4AD, Crescendo 1100.4 and 2000.4, Arc Audio SE4200, Wetsounds SDX-6, Zapco z-150.6 ap and Zapco z-150.6ii, JL Audio XD800/8v2, and Lanzar Heritage HTG 888. You won't hardly see anyone go near these types of multi channel amps for dyno test in videos.
