this is one reason why I love the old school amps they are bigger and heavy but they do what they are made for. we thank you for sharing this with us. keep it up . thumps up!
Each TO220 FET (the large package) can roughly handle 75A. The moment voltage starts dropping the current has to go up to keep the same wattage up. Concurrently, efficiency starts dropping as well. The Brazilian amps are pushed to the limits in regards to the current pushed through these things. It's for this reason, and no joke, when people say that Brazilian amps can handle voltage drop. Even when the voltage is in spec, the FETs are pushed to their theoretical limits. The small chassis with no heat-sinking doesn't help either. To compare Fosgate on the BDCP Power lineup also uses large package TO220 but they use more of them, have a well designed protection circuit, very heavy sinks, and push sensible power numbers (the BDCP 1500 does ~2000W RMS / 3000W burst).
If you ask me this is the exact reason why you should but a fuse in between the battery and the amp power wire. If the wire had a fuse rated properly for the amp with wire the correct gauge you would never have that problem. The fuse would just blow before it goes over the current pull that would blow the amp.
yea lol. im tryping to buy subs right now and the way i find decent companies and gauge weather theyre good or not is by looking up their amps. if they do their rated power than i might buy from them, if not well...

Fire extinguisher tip: Get A CO2 extinguisher for the lab. When you use this, it puts out CO2 and puts the fire out and doesn't leave a mess. Carbon Dioxide is commonly used around electrical and electronic equipment due to it being so clean, just don't use it on wood or paper fires.

This is a great example of "you get what you pay for". Crazy they would sell something like this without a warning of any kind. Just imagine this in someone's trunk and this happening. The owner wouldn't be able to hear or smell it until the trunk was up in flames. A lot of people keep flammable items in the trunk, from clothes and blankets to gas cans. Thx for the video.
Jose Hcca Luna The RCA input voltage shouldn’t affect the power supply section. My guess is that it’s not truly 1 ohm stable by design. Or it may not like a 1ohm resistive load.

In the video the amp starts at 15.23 volts dynos then dynos again at 15.01 that's the equivalent of burping twice in a row. This will cause most amps to blow or protect. I ran Brazilian amps similar fine at 14.8 15 volts plus will cause them to blow. Start at 14.8 see what happens

Big D saves the day again! I actually found their amps via their speakers and had my reservations about a rebadged Brazil made amplifier and it turns out my gut was right! Timpano, used to be Tempesta in Italy and all they made were speakers. Good speakers...VERY good speakers for the commercial audio market. PRV bought them (Probably for the speaker tech) and decided to make the name more "Latino" and into a full line brand. They probably should have gone to Taramps or PowerUs instead. Lost opportunity. These videos are a service to consumers. Its completely irresponsible for whoever makes and/or distributes these amps to put people at risk by not having basic electrical safeguards built into them. Boss’s thievery of overstating output ratings is a minor offense compared to this. The target buyers for these amps are the ones who would be hurt the most by a fire started by one of them. This company deserves whatever comes of this. Keep them coming Big D.
Wish I could find the Fbook post where I got berated for making a comment about not wanting to park next to a car with Brazilian amps due to fire hazard. New rule all Brazilian amps get tested with the covers off. 👍

In the Stetom manual for the EX3000 it states this; important use a 150 amp fuse 30 cm from the battery as a safety precaution. Hope this helps everyone to understand never allowed too many amps to hit the amplifier.
Man, I'm sure glad that you do what you do. Not that I would buy one of these anyway, because I don't run that much power on my subs, but that's pretty bad that it blew up like it did.
Great video as always. I would give a double thumbs up if I could. I did buy one of the screwdriver kits you recommended. Sorry about the $220 that went up in smoke.
That Alpine head unit is rated at 5 volts in its RCA output; did this contribute to the breakdown of the amp? I'm not saying this amp is reliable just if it added to the problem.
I have ran these for a while now I have yet to have one fail on me..... I fallow Brazilian amp rules..... Wire above rated by half an ohm..... Don't feed with more than 14.8 volts..... Don't feed with more than 1.5 volts of rca signal.... Don't get up to clipping..... Tune to the cleanest signal possible.... And if you want 2500 watts buy 5k

From an end user perspective and obe who is making 2 car payments a month along with a mortgage... We thank you for these videos! The vehicle and house are the 2 most expensive investments in life. I don't want something like this in any of my family's or customers vehicles. Safety has to always come first. If this were in someone's trunk and quit while they were in traffic or on the turnpike where they couldn't get off the road and actually caught something on fire... Now everyone has a major problem
This is the exact reason I won't bother with Brazilian full bridge amps. I know there are some more reliable brands, but from what I've seen and heard, they all end up blowing at some point. Thanks for informing the community, Big D. You might have saved a car or two from burning to the ground.
Fuses are designed to snap at around 1.5x to 2x the current the fuse is rated for. This way the fuse won't snap every time you hit 60 amps on an amp with 2x30a fuses, but it will snap when you short and send 120amps + to the fuse.
I've seen this on other equipment as well. It is usually the traces on the circuit board that are not heavy enough to carry the current. The original circuit boards may have been made with two ounce or heavier copper. Then someone in production uses one ounce copper boards because they are much cheaper. On Chinese stuff that gets copied, the copies may be using thin copper because they don't know what they're doing, or care for that matter.
Hey, from down under. Did you say you had similar problems with Stetsoms? I own a 4K5EV which is fused at 200amp X 2 (twin 0ga positive and negatives), is this too high? I will have to watch it during comps. Thanks for quality videos, keep it up.

I have a U.S Alt 250 amp and two XSpower d7500’s with dual runs of zero gauge power and grounds and dual power and grounds running to the amp. I basically have my gain almost maxed and the bass level since it’s set at 45hz at -7 levels go from -10 to +10 I no longer get the clip light to even flicker let alone come on so I know I’m good. This is different technology and I couldn’t find anything for tuning them so I just kept playing around till I got what I wanted out of the amp now it SHLUMPS! I like to play in that 28-18 hz with Authority! And now I can all day. Just be careful some slowed or rebased stuff isn’t recorded cleanly and could have distorted signals in it. My subs now run cool to kinda warm. My amp runs Luke warm to barley warm. Dj dropn dj deep Bassotronics ALL DAY!

Timpano amp: Iight, Imma head out
this is one reason why I love the old school amps they are bigger and heavy but they do what they are made for. we thank you for sharing this with us. keep it up .
5 dislikes must be between people that run these amps & the people that sell them. Lol BOOM BOOM POW 😔
OMG you are funny hahahhahahaha
yea lol. im tryping to buy subs right now and the way i find decent companies and gauge weather theyre good or not is by looking up their amps. if they do their rated power than i might buy from them, if not well...
@Westsidesnooker 2020 still running it buddy and it's been almost 2 yrs and it still works. Nothing against big d wiz but he always tends to push these kind of amps past their limits so of course they burn up instantly and makes them seem like they are nothing but junk. I've never burned an amp from overpowering or under powering so to each his own. Also what do you expect for 200 bucks
@@jeroenschuuring6060 yea, its called up grading my cars electrical and making sure my in line fuses are up to par or underfuse so I don't get those spikes in current and if I do get them, those inline fuses safe me from burning up. I went to school for Electrician so I'm well versed when it comes to electricity but thanks for your 2 cents. Maybe You could ve put me in my place 15 yrs ago but not today sir. Have a good day.
@@jeroenschuuring6060 I'm running stock 120 amp alt and I don't see anything over 100 amps considering im only running 1 15. I'm not competing and Its called a daily driver for a reason. I do have a oscilloscope and multimeter so I think I know how much current my amps and and alt are pulling. You got some nerve trying to tell someone how to live their lives. Where's your High current sound system at. I would like to see what your working with since you talk a big game.
"Quality you can trust"
I didn’t go there, but that is ironic
Haha. How ironic.
Same company as Stetsom & PRV
I was seriously looking at buying this amp, but you had not tested it yet so I waited. Now I’m glad that I did wait! Thank you sir for all of these tests that you do!!!!!!!
Good things come to those who wait 😬
Test the Stetson with the case off! 😂
What's your rca input voltage ?
I know some Brazilian amps will go up in smoke if rca voltage is more than 2v
Jose Hcca Luna The RCA input voltage shouldn’t affect the power supply section. My guess is that it’s not truly 1 ohm stable by design. Or it may not like a 1ohm resistive load.
DAMN it blew up , big time ... Great video Big D , Thanks for the honesty . Now we know what there made of , no caps or protect ...WHAT ??!! Not an amp for subs ..... Keep them coming ...
Amp install under the seats for the seat heater!
I'm so glad I bought that Skar amp. It's been great at pushing two 15's to tracks like "just bass" and "slo rolla"
They should pay you for finding the fault of the amp and recall it and fix the issue.
... What aboutt profit. Psht
Wow....All I can say is thanks for taking the time to test and check the amps that you do...👍🏾..You’re videos are really helpful..Thanks again 🙏🏾
Was looking at the Stetsom Export line amps for my build. Really glad I decided against it now. They've gone down hill fast...
I have stetsom 8K 1ohm no issues (13.6V system) and bunch of my friends are using stetsom amps on their huge builds
@@iam-lagger2115 They don't put out nowhere near what they promise. That's why i sold mine. Same with Taramps. When it comes to compact Brazilian amps only brand i would trust is Sound digital.
@@Rentta well we tested stetsom 8k and it gave rated power
@@iam-lagger2115 Someone's a little butt hurt.
@@unclejohn5012 facts my dude
In the video the amp starts at 15.23 volts dynos then dynos again at 15.01 that's the equivalent of burping twice in a row. This will cause most amps to blow or protect. I ran Brazilian amps similar fine at 14.8 15 volts plus will cause them to blow. Start at 14.8 see what happens
Was that you doing the table top air out on the BMX in the intro?! If so that’s really sweet I ride BMX and am into car audio.
Yessir! About 4ft above the ramp. 8ft y’all by 8ft wide. This was in 1986 and I was riding a 1986 Haro FST in green with Peregrine 48’s
Williston Audio Labs never knew you were into BMX too! That is an impressive air! There is no better feeling than airing out and floating a nice table!
Thanks for saving me a few hundred bucks BigD...you ain't no "big dummy"!
Edit cause I'm a big dummy and can't spell.
I would never touch this brand
Stetsom is same company, and world record holder.
Version 2 should be better it’s not hard to get a hold of full bridge tech
I was going to order those amps cuz I remember a while back I asked you to review those amp and I am glad that you did I would not be buying those apps. Thank you once again
Imagine if you actually had 4g wire on it, that could have been a much bigger problem, always have an inline fuse in case your power lead melts from over current
Really appreciate your honesty. Know you could lie through your teeth, and probably get paid well to do so. One of my favorite channels on You tube! Keep it up.
you put like satetson Brazil, but not Stetson this amplifier and a copy
This is why I only use brand-name amps for subwoofers. Fosgate, kicker, DC audio. I know there’s others but these guys actually answer the phone and take returns and fix problems
That’s important
From what I have been told by a authorized dealer this made by PVR.Dont know how true that is but I have been told that many of times over.
Stetsom, PRV, Timpano
in my eyes im glad you do the testing that you do and i wouldn't feel bad at all about calling out anyone on there equipment that amp should do what it says and it can't with out blowing up so call em out big d you got my support
Big D I really like you bro!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is one reason you have a large, and trusting audience, cause we know your tests are legit. You don't abuse the equipment trying to get it to fail, you run the equipment recommended and if not ALWAYS state, "don't try this at home" all the disclaimer anyone should need
Haha the protect light flashing while it's popping is hilarious for some reason
Yeah man it’s a double edged sword for sure
These videos are a service to consumers. Its completely irresponsible for whoever makes and/or distributes these amps to put people at risk by not having basic electrical safeguards built into them. Boss’s thievery of overstating output ratings is a minor offense compared to this. The target buyers for these amps are the ones who would be hurt the most by a fire started by one of them. This company deserves whatever comes of this. Keep them coming Big D.
Point taken 👌
Wish I could find the Fbook post where I got berated for making a comment about not wanting to park next to a car with Brazilian amps due to fire hazard.
New rule all Brazilian amps get tested with the covers off. 👍
I hate Brazil amps cause they just shotty products over all.
Screw them Big D! If their amp is cheap trash and it goes up in smoke then, it’s a wake up call to improve their product! I love your videos and the honesty. Don’t change a thing!! 👍👍😎
9:43 AAAAAND SHE GONE
EDIT holy shit, far better timestamp, multiple angles ftw!!!!
In the Stetom manual for the EX3000 it states this; important use a 150 amp fuse 30 cm from the battery as a safety precaution.
Hope this helps everyone to understand never allowed too many amps to hit the amplifier.
They should change the name to ignite audio..
I see even audiopipe are getting into full bridge.. $240 3k
Which aoudiopipe amp?
@@jameshooper1382 aphd-3000
They have 2 ohm and 1 ohm
Man, I'm sure glad that you do what you do. Not that I would buy one of these anyway, because I don't run that much power on my subs, but that's pretty bad that it blew up like it did.
"I love the smell of burnt electronics in the morning."

Great video as always. I would give a double thumbs up if I could. I did buy one of the screwdriver kits you recommended. Sorry about the $220 that went up in smoke.
If the company is knowingly selling crap. Then too bad.
Don't apologize for saving us from burning our cars up!
True
Dont want that in my car without full coverage lol
Wow I ordered the stetsom ex3000 it’s coming in tonight 😂 thanks for saving my m3 from burning down you da man ! 💪🏼💪🏼 I owe you a beer mate thanks
Feeding the algorithm. People need to see this
That Alpine head unit is rated at 5 volts in its RCA output; did this contribute to the breakdown of the amp? I'm not saying this amp is reliable just if it added to the problem.
I’ll let Timpano reply to that question...
Dont recommend a smaller fuse, just recommend ppl dont buy them. lol
Well there’s that...
No need to explain your self to any manufacture you are doing the consumer justice. If they go out of business for deception or sub par performance I call it justice!
We the informed or uninformed consumer know and appreciate the much needed service you provide. Please continue to be unbiased and call it as it is....
Dang I just bought 2 of these to run each of my 2 sundown x 18" for xmas....jk bahaha 🤣🤣🤣 get this crap off the market and go out of biz. Bahaha great review bahaha are you sure that wasn't a blowville bahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Damn that sucks. Maybe youd actually be loud if you ran then 😂
I can's help to notice that the protection light is blinking AFTER the amplifier went BANG! That BANG was almost worthy of Big Clive's youtube channel!
Yeah it notices there is a problem a bit too late
Hey Big D. The high current displayed when the amp blew was the power supply fets shorting. Big thumbs up 👍 for you and what you do.
And I was thinking about buying a Stetsom amp! Well, not now! Thanks for the video!
Keep doin the great work this is why I watch your videos before I buy anything. And I certainly wouldn't want that buring my trucks down. You are doing a good service pointing them out to us thank you
From an end user perspective and obe who is making 2 car payments a month along with a mortgage...
Sounds like a smoking good deal. I might buy one of these amps
Smokin’ jokin’ keep yo ears open..
Yes, not just me though, others who have tried the Stetsom based amps on Dyno’s have seen them go poof! Just be careful brother
Read this im guessing you hurt'em good job big D appreciate all the vids:
The power rating data is based on equipment from the PRV Audio Group laboratory. Rated power tested with 100Hz to 1KHz sinusoidal signal and THD
UPDATE-I have the 6k 2ohm running 2 15’s first I had custom Hcca’s now I have custom Adire audio 3000kh’s from a sub builder [5-8 audio]. Had trouble tuning but just recently I learned if you want to get really low like 28hz-18 hz first make sure you have a upgraded Alternator do the big 3 and at least 2 batteries and your box tuned right.
Thanks for the test Big D. Love the great testing procedures you are doing, one of the best out there. Good or bad Big D shows how it is. # 1 stop before purchasing any Amp is right here!
