Same here. I went and bought a 2000xj sport for 1300. I've spent 4 times that since I bought it lol. Haven't driven it more than 5 miles since December. But the suspension was so bad when I got it you couldn't drive it. So I added a 5in lift and been upgrading everything else needed. Last round of parts on the way right now and then it's off for the alignment then it's maiden voyage time

For me, this series was a great intro to rock crawling. What's impressive is seeing full hobbyist rigs and fancy components along side your own build. The two budget rigs and separate drivers seemed closely comparable to my eyes (sorry? haha) and it was often wheelbase and tread that seemed the deciding factors among all the vehicles... so maybe there is no such thing as a perfect rock crawler. But it looked like tons of fun.
As someone who shops at thrift stores and harbor fright😱, I know there are some things to dish out the money on and others where knock-offs and make-dos fare just fine. Great to see budget builds that would do anything an enthusiast would try.

I totally agree. I still think the XJ won but, Matt was clearly the better driver. So, the ZJ is a Grand Cherokee? No one actually said. It also required a lot more modification to even come close to the XJ. But, I think the XJ's length had a lot to do with the win.

I think that it is really neat that with all the fun you are having wheeling this canyon, you still show an interest in the surrounding scenery. I have lived in Utah for forty years and I LOVE it. Without realizing what I was getting into, I went DOWN Pritchett canyon in the dark driving a stock Kawasawki Teryx. I did not enjoy it at all, but I will NEVER forget it. The Kawsawki came out without anything worse that some scratches. I was saved from ending up wheels up by what you say, "When in doubt, throttle out". I will never never never forget it. Thanks for letting me see what I missed in the dark.

Best part of this whole series has been following along as you build these jeeps into something that isn't unobtainable for a lot of us working on a budget, and then seeing them do almost everything that dedicated built crawlers can do. Just goes to show you don't need 40's and tons to get out and have a great time. Makes me excited to finish building my xj and get it out to Moab to hit these trails. Awesome series. Hope to see more like it in the future

The time in Tennessee, not crazy about the judges. Loved the videos in Moab. The best thing was watching it with my son and giving him the encouragement to build a cheap rig and be able to accomplish the same as any built rig. A little perseverance goes a long way. Ths was a great life lesson. Especially when you tore out your exhaust and Matt busted his welded locker, but kept going

My first trip to Moab I had never heard of Pritchertt Canyon and it showed on my map as just another dirt road... I went down the canyon backwards (not in reverse, just going the untraditional direction), in the dark of night alone in a fully stock 2018 Kawasawki Teryx LE. By the time I arrived at what you called the final obstacle, (the beginning for me) it was sundown and everything that followed was in darkness. My headlights would light directly in front of me but I had to find the best way through using the only flashlight I had which was a cellphone light. I started on what I thought was going to be a nice day ride at 9:30 AM and I got back to camp at 10:30 PM. My Kawasawki has a lot of scratches and a few dents that it didn't used to have but nothing broke and unless you crawl under it you would never know what I had done. I did have a winch, and about 50 feet of extra cable, without which I would still be somewhere in the canyon. I met up with some rock crawlers from Denver and they pulled me up the final obstacle which was the start for you and everyone who goes on that trail in the right direction. I was never so happy to get off a trail in my life. Several times I thought I would die but I felt like I had no choice but to go on. I felt I had come over things that I could not go back over so I pressed on. Someone was looking out for me that day but I am in no hurry to return to Moab. I will be much more careful about the trails I pick in the future. Pritchertt Canyon is NOT FOR BEGINNERS !!!!! This was a great video so please keep them coming.

I love the fact you 2 decided to do this i have been building my wrangler i found in a farmers feild and its the most fun i have had in a long time for $750 i might have $1500 into it even with a blown t case Blacksheep still pushes through. Thank you once again for doing this and proving even the cheapest of them can still wheel with the stupid expensive ones.

Dana 30 FTW!! Seriously amazing footage. I’m in awe. Cheap Jeeps are the shizz. ZJ has a better interior and comfort. XJ looks way better on the outside and seem easier to modify. But both are hard core, value and function winners.
Please do more videos like this series. So cool!
