  • The Toyota Camry 2019 has a 2.5 litre Naturally Aspirated engine. Is 181 PS and 235 Nm of torque enough? YS Khong takes the Camry up to the mountains to check out the driving and handling - the big surprise is the new suspension set up, built on Toyota's New Global Architecture platform.

    Hi YS. I found your reviews on the Toyota Camry extremely informative, you are by far the best reviewer I've come across. I've been doing a lot of research on what car to buy next. I have taken out the 2.5L Camry with the 6-speed transmission as tested and I agree, its suspension is brilliant. Power is enough for me as I have nowhere near the driving prowess you have, so I've now ordered one. I love the drive you take up the Genting hills, looks beautiful and I can't wait to visit your wonderful country. I am your latest fan, thank you so much for your reviews and stay safe in these unusual times

      Hi, Mark Howard. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the Channel. Good to know we have positively influenced you, and thanks from R your kind words.
      Do come visit, and we will try to get you a s guest on a special drive up this road. It's the access road to Genting Casino, and is about 40 km on the eastern outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.
      Which country are you from? I would guess OZ or ANZ

My wife is from HK and lived in KL for a couple of years before we met and she keeps telling me how wonderful Malaysia is so we are definitely going to visit when we can. Would love to drive up that fantastic road, will let you know when we're coming to visit :-)

    Toyota is famous for its durability but not innovation. My Altis is 10 years old n still drive like new. May upgrade to Camry after watching this. Well done. Could not wait for Part 2.

      My parents have Altis 2010 pre facelift and it drives like new despite some irritating sounds which we overlook. Thus far, no major or minor issue. Expenses are low just normal maintenance. I agree that Toyota sucks at innovation but I don't mind as the Altis engine has sufficient tech

      But it consumes a lot of petrol. Around 8 to 10 kml city drive and 12 to 15 kml highway. That is the only drawback but I think it's kinda worth the power

      Hi Kahuna, interesting subject you brought up. However, each car is different, and different people have different priorities. The cars are all very close, and personal taste would play a role, in addition to relationships, like past pleasant sales or ownership experiences etc etc. Most people never use all the horsepower anyway, so even power comparison is futile. The Camry I tested has one of the best rides I have ever encountered for a car in this category, and that alone is worth something to some people. However in terms of outright horsepower, it is a little under, but good enough for Mr Average Joe who can afford a car in this price range.

    YS, have you tested the 2018 Passat 2.0? If you have, which one is better/value for money in your opinion?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In terms of power the 2.0 l Passat is very good. I drove it in Langkawi and it handles quite well too. No two cars are the same, so it is a tough choice. I heard Mazda6 is also good, bit have to wait for the new model. At this moment, the Camry is more fresh, since it is newly launched. Such is the automotive industry - fresh always has an advantage.
