- In today's video, we embark on a journey to visit the iconic Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia. We had heard so much about the beauty of Angkor Wat at sunrise, so we decided to wake up early and experience it for ourselves. But what we discovered was not what we expected.
As we arrived at the temple, the sky was still dark, and we were surrounded by the sounds of nature. As the sun began to rise, we were amazed to see the temple slowly coming to life with the golden light of dawn. The intricate carvings and architecture of Angkor Wat were breathtaking, and we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder.
But what surprised us the most was the number of visitors that had arrived to witness the sunrise. We had expected a peaceful and quiet experience, but instead, we were surrounded by a large crowd of tourists. However, despite the crowds, the magic of Angkor Wat at sunrise was not lost on us.
We also learned about the rich history of Angkor Wat, which was built in the 12th century as a Hindu temple and later converted to a Buddhist temple. The temple complex is vast, and it takes at least three days to fully explore all the temples, each with its unique charm and beauty.
Overall, we recommend getting a three-day pass to Angkor Wat to fully appreciate its splendor and history. Despite the crowds, witnessing Angkor Wat at sunrise was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we'll never forget. Join us on our journey to Angkor Wat and discover its magic for yourself!

The sunrise at Angkor Wat felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but next time we visit we'll probably get the 3-day pass in order to explore more of it because the complex is HUGE!!! Do you have any other temples or hidden spots that we or others should check out? Let us know below!!
Your sunrise pictures are really gorgeous! At Angkor Wat, did you see the only one apsara (out of almost 2 000 at Angkor Wat) who shows her teeth? I love those giant trees! My fave temples: Preah Khan, Ta Som, Banteay Kei, Ta Keo, Neak Pean (for its wooden bridge over swamp) and the other small temples like Thommanon.
I like Hanna’s temple pants. LOL. They looked very light and comfortable in such tropical climate, plus keeping the mosquitoes off the skin compared to wearing shorts.

@@mikewhocheeseharry5292 No, the reason remains a mystery. One guide said maybe it was a mistake. IMO, the maker wanted something different. Actually, they are all different in details (costumes, jewelry, hairstyle, gesture...) and are mostly smiling without showing teeth, so... :)
@@lirazel2001 fascinating. It’s hard to believe they would’ve made a mistake considering everything else was built with mathematical precision. If they carved the stones before it fully hardens, then they would had been able to fix it. I can’t wait to actually go see it. Hopefully soon.

Wow! Beautiful video. When I was living in Thailand I wanted to go and visit Angkor Wat but it was against recommendations for Americans to go there at that time due to unrest in that country, so thanks to you guys, I was still able to see this wonderful place. Can hardly wait for your next video, they are the best!

This video SO different from our normal stuff & to say we were nervous about it is an understatement🤣 It was such a fun day of filming but man it made for a challenging edit LOL. Cambodia's seriously one of the coolest places we've been though. We have a couple of exploring videos as well as a video (similar to this one) on the Cambodian Killing Fields. It'll also be very different & similar to the Auschwitz video as well, but they're such important stories that need to be told ya know? I think you should come to visit Cambodia as we are open and friendly to all. Cambodians are humble and gentle. Though we are not the top safe country in the world, safety here can be guaranteed for tourists. It is even better than some other countries in the region as we don’t have mafia, drug lords and people don’t have guns.
So impressive - can't wait to visit next year. But, NO way to the cobras for me, and Brian is with Trey as usual on the whole heights thing. You both do such a fantastic job with all the history and info - Nice work!

You can walk if you want, but it's REALLY hot & the temples aren't really that close to each other. We loved Cambodia!
The best time to visit Angkor is between December to February but then you have to deal with the tour crowds. Angkor complexes are spreading in huge area and you can also visit butterfly garden, Silk Farm, or War Museum in the city. If you have more time to visit outside the city, you can visit Koh Kor and the Kulen Hill Waterfalls to see a largest recliner Buddha and a thousand linga along the waterfalls. Happy travels 🎉
Oh man we tried to get to Butterfly Gardens but it was closed the day we filmed (I believe it was Saturday). Those are great recs though. I remember when we first arrived I was doing research of things to do in Siem Reap I almost felt overwhelmed. Obviously you could spend SO much time in Angkor Wat, but man there's a whole heap of awesome things to experience throughout the area. We can't wait to get back there & explore more of it!! We are here during the "rainy season " beautiful days only rained one late afternoon...very low crowds that's what we like..oh and lower hotel prices plus FREE room up grades :) so much for the best time to visit 😅😊

Thank you for nice information. Just note that it was HIndu temple originally and then Buddhism came to Cambodia and they converted Hindu temples into Buddhist temples. Few places the information given by you is not correct like 6:05 onwards.

Based on your experience, do you think it's worth to get the tickets to get into the temples, and what's the average cost for the tickets, and where would you suggest them? Reason being, I just realised it's pretty expensive and everything is in USD. Any other places of interest you think is worth visiting? Do you think it's safer to get a guide or just wing it? Some of the best Khmer temples are outside of the Angkor capital. I personally love Beng Melea and Koh Ker if you can do add it to your next trip. It is less touristy and not to mention these are still massive temples.
That's something we'd heard as well!!! We always kinda thought there'd be more there than just Angkor Wat, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time to dive more into the area. Next time we visit we plan to allocate around a week in Siem Reap, as well as get down to Battambang. Cambodia's got SO much to see. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch our video!!!

I totally agree!!😂 The heights are an obvious no-go, but we found ourselves moving “with purpose” any time we found a roof above us inside the temples. It’s such an incredible place though. Just like how you can break down the English word “Perfect” into two Latin words “Per” and “Facere” and decode it to meaning “The Primal Creator” implying the first human king, you can actually break down the words Angkor Wat and trace it to not only Indo-European but also Egyptian shared Kingdom words such as “Ank and Woden” which together comes out to the “One Wood” or “One Uniquest Wood” implying the Bodhi Tree or Christmas Tree that represents the first sovereign human God-King on Earth. Hence the word Angkor Thom, which is the entrance having the angels and demons battling each other for supremacy can be broken down into two shared Indo-European and Afro-Asiatic words, “Ank and Thomas/Dominus”. Thus when interpreting the two Kingdom words together, they read out as “the Uniquest of Two Dominates” implying One Twin. Which makes sense since the entrance depicts a battle between Good and Evil.

Hi there! Could I ask how yall travelled around inside Angkor? My family and I don't really want to hire a guided tour nor do we want a tuk tuk driver that follows the small/big circuit route. We have our own planned route so like were there any tuktuk drivers inside Angkor that would take you just to one temple like just for 1 trip wherever we ask?
This is a great question! We did see some tuktuk's inside of Angkor Wat that could offer rides for people not on tours, but a majority of them are rented for the day. One option would be to rent a tuktuk for a day and just tell them that you have a route instead of following a tour. Some of the temples are close to one another, but the complex is massive and I don't recommend walking. We did see some folks on bikes which we thought would have been a really cool experience on a nice day, but also a workout since the complex is quite large and the weather can be humid/hot. Going without a rented tuktuk or a bike of some kind is an option but you run the risk of not finding a tuktuk and needing a ride to your next spot if you don't rent one for the day. You talking about the Vietnamese was just an inserted into Angkor era history. Angkor Thom was under the reign of Jayaverman VII. During his time the Vietnamese was in its infancy and in political turmoil. At the same time, the Song Emperor was just executed a popular general name Yue Fei, about three decades before Javavarman VII become King of the Khmer empire. His devotion to Mahayana Buddhist was so much similar to the kingdom of Dali rulers and he spent most of his life south of Dali before becoming a Khmer king. Jayavarman (Jay Yah Varpamen) have meaning and whoever written in Khmer in Wikipedia was completely wrong. The Wikipedia writer was just simply translated the Romanized Jayavarman back to Khmer. The name Jaya (Jay Yah) mean Victory over the Ogre and Varman (Varpaman) was suppose to translate as dissemination. Khmer share Yah word (the giant ogre) with Laotian and maybe Thai too. Succession of Angkor era king built temples mountain to defense and fight a victorious war again the Yah. Many of the King name were related to domination over the Yah, such as Yasovarman (Yah Soar Varpaman) mean lock the Yah up and disseminating. Similar to Jack in the Beanstalk, the Yah also live above in the cloud or on the heaven. They live above like the god but they were in constant battle with the god.

Angkor is a symbol of power and wealth. That's why Cambodia was at one time bigger than Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam because a large part of the land was stolen by the Thai government years ago.

It got bigger as the Khmer Empire became weaker, just like all other empires that failed. The Thais, which used to be called Siams, were captured during the war and became slaves. Also, the Thai military committed genocide against Cambodian refugees around 1979 by killing about 300 of them near the Thai-Cambodian border. It was an evil act that most people don't know about.
