      It begins in the family and schools. I still remember how a fight would break between North east people and other when the latter used to instigate the fight all the time by calling them names like "Chinkis, Chinese" . The worst part was looking back I feel the teachers were very less supportive of the North East people and racism was just passed off as a "casual fight" and both parties used to be blamed equally when the instigator was always the person calling them names. The worst stereotype was that NE people aspire to sell momos and do nothing in life and I have heard these very words from the mouth of a teacher in school. Years later it fills me with disgust how normalized it was made with almost zero consequences.

      @@navaneetbaruah9411 i wonder y u wonder there r bengalis in NE. Ppl who r living for generations cannot just leave one day and settle elsewhere bcoz of some atrocities. Ppl living in war areas of Irag or syria or afghanistan do not leave their places of origin just like that until its a life threat. U assamese guys haven't face any kind of threats or atrocities in ur own places( living or working) bcoz ur areas didn't got divided during partition. To understand my point of view u shud ask some punjabi, or others who faced such things in punjab, rajasthan, gujrat, j & k. U hav no idea what it feels to know one morning that u can no longer live in ur house/home and moreover ur country. One good thing that happen with ppl coming to punjab, gujrat, rajasthan and delhi is that they were welcome by the ppl there wholeheartedly but we weren't so lucky. Assamese ppl hate us bcoz u guys have that language inferiority with us. But still we r living and thriving better than u so called indigenious NE ppl bcoz we know the art of how to "live and let live", in harmony.

      @navaneetbaruah9411 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@rahulpaul8761 No we do not have language inferiority but it's because you have shown your true colours where you want to establish your language and culture in the state. 1837 and the 1970s are just a few examples where you have shown your true intentions. There is another state called west bengal where you could have lived, but instead more and more of you are settling here and want to make it a majority. Not to mention your "chalo paltai schemes". People like Garga chatterjee openly writing racist articles about Assamese people and our historical figures, denigrating our history, that all goes to show your malafide intent towards us. And you are not thriving because of your belief in " live and let live", it's because you have perfected the art of usurping things that rightfully belongs to others. During partition and during Bangladesh war no other state had given you asylum except Assam and Tripura, and how do you repay that gesture of humanity and kindness.

    I had a friend in my last school and she was from Tripura. She didn't understand Bengali language too well and people in my class would always mock her and treat her the worst way. I remember I was her only good friend in the class. There was another friend of hers in a different section. No one else considered her as one of us and always mistreated her. She's always quiet, funny, creative and very nice and respectful

I don't understand, & still wondering when will our people country change . Our own brothers from north east are fighting alongside Indian soldiers in the Indo China border..... A strict law should be imposed for the ignorant people . This is not acceptable. Much appreciated for bringing up the issue in the public forum . Hoping for better India .

    I'm to proud to Indian..i also get goosebumps when our country wins any award or when i watch cricket but because this sort of discrimination i have never fully considered myself as an Indian...while leaving in delhi our landowners treat us as if we r staying there for free..they rise rents abruptly..just imagine i was compelled to sleep in my rented house for around one month without fan evn though i told my house owner to fix it he didn't pay heed...we r charged extra for grocery items,auto fare..i do sometime quarrel with them for all these problem but how long we keep complaining right..there is a limit to everything..we may be backward in terms of infrastructure but not mentally...i left my job last year as an engineer...i promised myself that i will never return to this city again...I'm not saying that northeast people r not racist ...kabhi kabhi hum log ka jaga main bhi hota hai but there people around to help the person who is facing discrimination...its easy to say for a main landers to say that discrimination r everywhere but i don't agree with that..everyday is a struggle...i have no job right now and I'm really depressed but i will find a job somewhere but i all never go out of NE,never ever in my life......

"DAKAR", "BONGAL" ,"BIHARI (in a offending manner) , "Paya" are few adjectives used here .. So yes, the Racial Discrimination what they feel in Mainland India is almost similar to what few of them offer to people from Mainland Indians.
